  2. Hello @someguy25 KB2467173 would install v10.0.30319.415 of the redistributable; however, this is not the latest version; KB2565063 is, which installs (hopefully) v10.0.40219.325 ... To install KB2565063, you first have to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) (v10.0.40219.1); that one will appear, after having been installed, as a separate entry inside your "Add/Remove Programs" Control Panel section... 3. I inadvertently found out that Internet Explorer 9 is again, as of late, able to play back youtube videos, so it appears Google (the owner of youtube) have patched their scripts to cater to IE9; this surely comes as a (nice ) surprise, but the reason behind such a move seems inexplicable to me... Perhaps was to support WS 2008 SP2 (officially supported until Jan 2020), on which IE9 is the only version of the native Microsoft browser to run, but I'm not convinced... For whatever reason, youtube now has been restored to its previous state in IE9, serving standalone MP4 encodes over HTML5 (usually only in 360p quality variant - some videos with more relaxed copyright also come with an additional (HD) 720p variant). As before, there's no way to go full screen: The MP4 decoding relies on system h.264/aac decoders (Windows Media Foundation), which means you need installed both SP2 + Platform Update Supplement for Vista... OT: Notice in the top blue ribbon how Google are eager to push their own (spyware of a) browser, even on a currently unsupported platform (i.e. Vista)...

  4. @someguy25 This requires at least KB4316682 for IE8 dated 05/30/2018 or more recent Cumulative Update for IE8! To enable TLS 1.1 and 1.2 in Internet Explorer 8, run the following code for a reg file: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AdvancedOptions\CRYPTO\TLS1.2] "OSVersion"=- [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AdvancedOptions\CRYPTO\TLS1.1] "OSVersion"=- [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings] "SecureProtocols"=dword:00000a80 "ShowPunycode"=dword:00000000 "EnablePunycode"=dword:00000001 "DisableIDNPrompt"=dword:00000000 "CertificateRevocation"=dword:00000000 "WarnOnPostRedirect"=dword:00000001 "WarnonBadCertRecving"=dword:00000001 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Protocols\Mailto] "UTF8Encoding"=dword:00000000 For deactivate Unsecure Ciphers, run the following code for a reg file: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Ciphers\RC4 128/128] "Enabled"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Ciphers\Triple DES 168/168] "Enabled"=dword:00000000

  5. But it fails Occam's Razor test (besides having less information available than SwiftSearch or *any other* $MFT parsing based program). There is already a good, fast, surely updated in real-time or near real-time, solid database of all files on a volume, with all the information about a file, which is the $MFT. Creating a new database with the names only is not IMHO that much an advantage, see also old discussion here: jaclaz

  7. Indexing is too much last millenium! On NTFS, no indexing and no Windows Search is ever needed. Try SwiftSearch instead:

  8. I never really liked Windows Search 4.0, for the reasons you mentioned. It was one of those Microsoft products that, yeah, was better in some ways; for example, it lets you search the body of emails in Windows Live Mail. But it's worse in other ways, and for me at least, it's harder to use. Why can't Microsoft just add new functionality without taking something away at the same time? I had it on my old XP system but regretted installing it. When I got a new Win 7 system, I downloaded & installed XP mode, but I hid Windows Search on Microsoft update just so I could keep the classic search.

  9. Thanks for your comments For me, it is important that integrated drivers are compatible. Are existing PCI-e Official Windows 2000 compatible? I have written all motherboards manufacturers. It strikes me that many do not have a pre-sale information service. Most manufacturers respond wondering what model I have already bought. I will make another post to collect official hardware support windows 2000. These are the manufacturers that I have written and their answers: Advantech, Albatron, Aopen, ASUS, AsRock, Biostar, Chaintech, Dell, DFI, ECS EliteGroup, FIC, Foxconn, Gigabyte Technology, iBase, iEi, Intel, MSI, Pc Chips, Sapphire Technology, Super Micro, Tyan, VIA, XFX, Zotac. Hello, I want to buy two ATX motherboards. One has to be compatible with Windows 2000 and other Windows XP. Which is the best model available with minimal drivers for windows 2000 (video, sound, LAN) and which is the best model available with drivers for Windows XP? The Windows 2000 if an ISA slot even better, but if any PCI with a very superior performance dispense with the ISA. A greeting. Advantech: OK The following 4 motherboards accept Windows 2000 (version Pro) AND Windows XP. AIMB-762 AIMB-763 AIMB-764 AIMB-766 For windows XP, if you don’t find something suitable, there is also other options. For Windows 2000 there is no other model. None of them have ISA, but all have PCI. Tell me if you want a quotation on any of those. I will stay available for any further question or inquiry. Albatron: No asked, only micro ATX Aopen: No asked, only mini PC Asus: only telf AsRock: Unable to write pre-sale Biostar: unanswered Chaintech: unanswered Dell: No asked, only PC box DFI: unanswered ECS EliteGroup: unanswered FIC: No asked, no longer manufactured ATX motherboard http://www.fic.com.tw/download/motherboards.aspx Foxconn: how else to respond! As for your enquiry, I suggest you to contact the local reseller or distributor who sell motherboard and PC. They could provide you with a good advice. Thanks in advance! Gigabyte:The recommendation does not have windows 2000 drivers Thank you for your kindly mail and inquiry. Since every one has their own preference, it is hard to define the best motherboard. But we suggest you can consider GA-990FXA-UD5 (rev. 3.0) which supports both Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Since the availability may vary by region, we suggest you to contact the local computer shops or our distributor for further help. Thank you. iBase: unanswered iEi: unanswered Intel: They respond in spanish saying I look in this compatibility list http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-008326.htm and then check here http://ark.intel.com/ if the motherboard is ATX. They say no current motherboards for Windows 2000 / XP. MSI: unaswered PCIchips: unaswered Sapphire: unaswered in foro https://www.sapphireforum.com/showthread.php?33696-motherboard-compatible-windows-2000-XP&p=277950#post277950 Supermicro: In this link we can verify compatibility with windows 2000 server I highly suggest our C2SBC-Q if using with Windows XP. Our lab has not verified it with 2000 though. Please check our OS compatibility list for additional motherboards. http://www.supermicro.com/support/resources/OS/C2.cfm Please note that many of these boards are EOL but might still be available from our vendors. Tyan: There’s no Tyan motherboard can support Windows 2000 and XP now. The ISA slot also phase out for years. May be you may consider to install virtual machine to meet your requirement. VIA: No asked, only embedded motherboard Zotac: Thank you for emailing Zotac. Unfortunately, with our current line motherboards the xp/windows 2000 is not supported.
