November 16, 200520 yr Latest MSN is just too bloated and slow. So am looking for an alternative MSN Messenger.Which alternative do U recommend'Heard GAIM was OK. What do thing?
November 16, 200520 yr Author but BUGED like s***. Recived so many crashes with her that I can't even count
November 16, 200520 yr The base Miranda is pretty stable. It's all the plugins that cause it to crash a lot... You can just use the A-patch to remove all the crap from MSN. Gaim is a pretty good alternative. Not really meant for Windows, but it works. Trillian is another possibility, but the fact that it doesn't use standard Windows just p***es me off...
November 16, 200520 yr Author what about Easy Message?Latest version is dated 2004?btw. My MSN 7 on WIn2k just sitting with no contacting talking to takes 8MB RAM and 16MB SWAP.Now that's to much for my poor laptop
November 16, 200520 yr I guess it's a love/hate relationship with any IM client. I use Trillian. I edited the config so it starts up instantly and disabled everything but the MSN plugin.
November 18, 200520 yr I've used gaim since the original version for windows. It used to pretty much suck but now it stable and supports a lot of clients in one IM window. I recommend it!
November 18, 200520 yr gaim is my default IM client 3 accounts at the same time with less requirements than msngr7 and many more functions ...
December 3, 200520 yr I've always been bugged about how my messenger hogs upto 16MB of ram....but I see the interface prety cool ^_^...maybe triallian is a better alternative!?
December 4, 200520 yr If Skype supported MSN, I'd switch to that. Some things about Trillian really bug me now.
December 25, 200520 yr I am also using the lastest Miranda Build.Disabled and deleted everything except MSN. I now have a LITE IM with under 1Mb of disk space taken. However, Im thinking of adding a few plugins. That thing is REALLY REALLY lite! Edited December 25, 200520 yr by Gouki
