argon007 Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 (edited) To Ryan,When I install your pack to my windows xp, Windows Update still have one update to want me to install.KB885884<{POST_SNAPBACK}>@argon007KB885884 is just a contextual update , only for the Office XP funs . so not everybody need it .<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Yeah, i know. it is for Office XP only. However, I recommended this hotfix to be added to RyanVM's Pack. Edited June 26, 2005 by argon007
Yzöwl Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 @ argon007So are you saying that, because you recommended an update for a non-post sp2 windows xp hotfix to Ryans post sp2 hotfix pack, that there is a problem. Not everyone with Windows XP uses MS Office, and those who do, will not necessarily be running that particular version. You could always check with Ryan why he didn't implement this hotfix into his pack on his dedicated Forum.Whilst you're at it, see if he can add my antivirus definition files too
RyanVM Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 (edited) To Ryan,When I install your pack to my windows xp, Windows Update still have one update to want me to install.KB885884<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Because it's an update for OfficeXP, not Windows XP. Read the KB article, the file being updated doesn't even exist on the XP CD. Edited June 26, 2005 by RyanVM
Astalavista Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Astalavista, yes you can remove them because they have been replaced with newer hotfixes. Do you know ryanvm`s post sp2 update pack? he has a list of all updates that have been suppressed by new updates. LinkOn the left, the old hotfix, on the right, the hotfix that has replaced it.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>thank you... do i need to remove anything else?
dziubek Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 (edited) This update installs a permanent copy of Package Installer for Windows to enable software updates to have a significantly smaller download size. The Package Installer facilitates the install of software updates for Microsoft Windows operating systems and other Microsoft products. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computerKB 898461Download Size: 477 KBDate Published: 6/27/2005 download Edited June 28, 2005 by dziubek
Xable Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 do i need to remove anything else?don`t think so... but i could of missed somthing.are you aiming to include all sp2 hotfixes or just the ones you need?
Astalavista Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 (edited) A Big Thank you to Neanderthal for informing me of what hotfixes are no longer needed. Neanderthal, I have updated the hotfixes.Post SP2 Hotfixes, With IcemanND's integration tool. 30MBDownload Herethe beauty of icemanNd's tool is that it can integrate what the other packagecannot integrate properly. And if your company does not allow third partyhotfix installers this is a really nice script. It is so easy to use. Just editthe target location of your xp source file on your hard drive.KB873339KB883939KB885222KB885626KB885835KB885836KB886677KB887742KB887797KB888113KB888240KB888302KB890046KB890175KB890859KB890923KB891781KB893066KB893086KB893803v2KB896358KB896422KB896428 Edited June 30, 2005 by Astalavista
xenithon Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 Hi there,I was busy getting the update earlier today (the old, 40MB one) when it was deleted from the server and the download failed. Now I get this error:"Your IP-address *********** is already downloading a file. You have to wait until it is finished."But I am not downloading anything. Is there any way I can get the package? Will this error maybe clear itself in an hour or so?Thanks,X
