Internet Archive is back online again!

Logins are still disabled for now, though.

Why no screenshot, then?

It's not online, it even got worse. It now blocked the innocent third party site checker.

I am very sorry, but I wouldn't rely on such checkers to know the websites' status. They can be misleading very often. That checker didn't even update some domains to reflect the new ones. For example, X is still shown there as twitter.com, and incorrectly detected as being down, even though I can access it fine. Other websites like WhatsApp (whatsapp.com) and Reddit (reddit.com) are also incorrectly detected as being down, even though I can access both websites fine.

Checking the websites' status (when they post status updates) on their social media in fact is enough, and also has up to date information, instead of relying on a checker online.

And here's a screenshot of being able to access archive.org normally without any issues, taken today.

As of lately, it's on and off. I'd suggest to wait while it settles down.

Nah, I don't think so, this is completely false. It has been on for several days now.

Everything seems back to normal but you still can't log in. So that means that some things :ph34r: can't be downloaded.

Of course there may be another part of the site I don't know about that is offline. I mainly use it for the website archive and the file search and both of those were working fine. However, I will note that some of their file hosting servers may not be fully running. Of the two things I downloaded a 600 MB file took 7 minutes but a 800 MB file took 2 hours. Or maybe it has always been like that.

ZIP downloads now ramp up to over 6 MB/s. The browser might have a smaller receive window (socket buffer). I remember not long ago the normal speed was 400 kB/s, which was of course better than nothing, and at most you needed a 1 meg old driver file or something like that. And very slow to initialize, as if they had to spin up a disk in the headquarters.

Young members of Reddit suddenly couldn't download Windows because Archive Org was the only place they were willing to go. It was hillarious. As if the Cloud had dissipated.

I remember not long ago the normal speed was about 1400 kB/s, it's through a download manager, not browser.

I'm just glad that internet archive was not the next website to be plunged into the blackhole of history just yet

Logins are back again, which means you can now login normally there, and download some things normally.

@we3fan

I mainly use Google account to register. I can't log in right now. I have to deal with some uploaded files related to OS.
I want to cry.
