In IIS create the web page download.windowsupdate.com which contains the folder v9. Test if you can download http://download.windowsupdate.com/v9/1/windowsupdate/redir/muv4wuredir.cab in Xp. Open WUv5. Now there should be a constant redirect, you can hear it clicking and the "Review installation history" button should be blue. Keep the browser window open and now rename splash.aspx to splash0.aspx and splash1.aspx to splash.aspx. Click on "Home" in Xp then you should be able to check for updates. Unfortunately you have to rename the files every time you go to the page. IMPORTANT! you must have the sha-2 patch and IE6 installed! Not IE7 or 8. also use ProxhttpsProxy v1.3. Try WUv6 first at http://fe2.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx?&g_sconsumersite before testing WUv5. There will eventually be a version adapted by me. xpandvistafan Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Can someone try this on Windows 2000 RTM? It unofficially supported it apparently. V6 supported only 2000 SP3 or later.
WULover Posted June 21, 2022 Author Posted June 21, 2022 @xpandvistafan I tried on Windows 2000 RTM, for me, it's not working. Microsoft Internet Explorer get stuck. I found a trick to get Windows Update working without changing the files each time you use Windows Update v5. I made a really quick video for that (using pictures, it would have been too long): https://download.overrender.com/content/software/other/mysoft/wu/tuto_wuv5.mp4

maile3241 Posted June 26, 2022 Posted June 26, 2022 Hello everyone, I have customized WUv4 to use WUv5 files and still access iuctl.dll instead of wuweb.dll. Now you can see that WUv4 gives an error code, which never happened before. Does anyone know what the error code means?
