My Browser Builds (Part 3)

Recommended Posts

@roytam1

Another interesting thing: high probability of crash when changing a page (clicking on a link) while still loading a page. Probably all javascripts needs to be processed first. (Observed cca. half year before, but by the time it is getting worse - may be due the excessive javascript usage on modern web pages.)

Scripting is getting so heavy, sometimes, I click on something and walk away for a little while. I usually user Serpent, but, sadly, it no exemption.

However, for me, I've found:

Version     52.9.0 (32-bit)
Build ID     20220701004211

To be much better than the previous and successor. Serpent 55 still fails for me as of course ff52.9.1. I plan to stick by Serpent. I will admit I've been curious to ask ... seems:

The main application has not changed since..

Serpent 4.8.4.8147

2022 04 22 013422

So since its no longer, I presume updates (or patches) are to this application and that won't change. I'm asking as I don't know.

Thank you for your patience - I'm sure at times I (Mister Blobfish) have tested some on here ;)

Package filename:
palemoon-27.10.0.win32-git-20220730-93f97225b6-xpmod.7z

New Moon 27
Version: 27.10.0 (32-bit) (2022-07-29)
BuildID=20220729155323

The whole application crashes :realmad: when loading "about:support":

ibaOWJU.jpg

In my case, I had "Troubleshooting Information" as a pinned tab and Session Restore enabled, thus the browser was crashing as soon as the session was being restored :angry: :( ... Took me a while to figure out what was going on... :(

The "Inspect Element" bug doesn't seem to be fully rectified - while the Inspector (DevTools) might eventually open (after causing the browser to "freeze" for some secs), its behaviour depends on the page inspected - an MSFN test page worked OK, but a GitHub test page soon provoked the infamous appcrash...
Whatever upstream are doing with Developer Tools, they're starting to break my favourite NM27 dark theme (FT DeepDark 9.5.4); not their fault, I know, since that complete theme was targeting originally Firefox 27 - and even had to be modified slightly to accommodate official Pale Moon 27.9.4 - but just saying this as an observation :whistle:...

In Deviantart.com the main culprit for it being so sloooowwwwwwww is something called "static.parastorage.com." Problem is, without it the site acts as if on an older browser. You cannot Comment, Reply, the site is a weird mess, etc.

I contacted the Deviantart staff about the fact Notes are not working. They said I'm using an outdated browser. I told them I was using Firefox 100. The reply to that? Firefox 100 is indeed outdated as now it's...Firefox 102. Ooooo, didn't know my version was so ancient.

I'm convinced. There really is a weird conspiracy to make the Internet a miserable frustrating experience. Or maybe it's "Idiocracy," which in turn was based on a 1951 short story called "The Marching Morons." I honestly don't know any longer, but the Internet did work much better in 2010 than now.

Yeah, likely both especially the latter. Chrome 104 ( I guess now, don't usually keep up on that ) and FF 102, or, yes, we jump thought hoops. Feels like that to me as well.
