With ProxHTTPSProxy, it gets further, but gives this error when searching for updates.

Can you give me the program?

I have now activated all ciphers. Despite this, no longer appears on SSLLabs.

Thank you ... I'm going to examine those ciphers and disable anything below tls1.0, but I wonder *what* would be using them on my system. I don't use IE (yes, I know its still woven into the explorer) and I've don't want mysterious things connecting as I've sttripped this down to almost noting related to ms now ... or at least I though so before this. I'm approaching this from another angel, I'm hoping my system will not be able to connet to anything.

Hope that made sense.

Thanks very much! It works! Updates can also be obtained!

Can you send a screenshot? For me it gives a 80072f8f error when searching, saying the date and time is incorrect.

Sorry been away for a while.
To answer the earlier questions, yes I do use ProxHTTPSProxy.
I also use heinoganda's root certificates updater.
I do indeed have Chrome Frame installed in IE8, but it was of course disabled when I did the tests.

Did you make any other modifications to your system? This is what mine says.

No, actually not. I tested it on another PC and I get the same error. I'm looking for the cause

It seems you have some extra root certificates on your desktop. Maybe it will work if I install them?
