Hello everyone and happy new year! Now I have transfer my Windows XP VM to Hyper-V, but MU and U don't work. I have intalled all the necessary updates and replaced waueng.dll. After I reinstalled all the programs on the client and server, it didin't work either. It returns me 0x80072F78. What should I do? (Firewall method have been tested)

Windows Update V6 (when I'm writing this post) is even more broken than it was before. The old tricks no longer work (at least for me), and the site sometimes partially loads using g_sconsumersite. Maybe that's not big news, but I'm reporting it anyway for everyone to be aware of that.

I've simulated this and Microsoft Update opened fine. Try my installer (https://1drv.ms/u/s!AsVjtW11rJfA3FQANrgg_QXRMgfx?e=7q2PhN).

2025.01.21 Update :  It seems that it no longer works

Also there is a weird phenomenon : if you enter the mu site , IE itself will stuck for minutes then become normal again

No problems here to access Microsoft Update under Windows XP from Germany when using the patch + proxy method.

Maybe, your location is the problem due to any restrictions. :dubbio: If you need to check for system updates, try Legacy Update as it is easy to install.

Maybe TLS 1.1 or 1.2 is still needed?

Which method are you referring to? :dubbio: The patch + proxy method uses the TLS 1.2 or TLS 1.3 ProxHTTPSProxy which is needed to connect to MU via Internet Explorer. The service Legacy Update provides their own client software which means no additional proxy is needed. Here is my report from August 2024 when testing the Legacy Update service:
https://msfn.org/board/topic/183498-general-and-specific-solutions-for-problems-regarding-auwumu-in-windows-xp/?do=findComment&comment=1270925
One thing is clear. Today, most connections require at least the TLS 1.2 protocol. Please, first read about the methods before asking! All is described in detail.

Since you replied to @ItCoder, I assume that you are using his proxy server method for restoring MU/AU. Your image shows the error code 0x8024400A which is listed as SUS_E_PT_SOAPCLIENT_PARSEfailed in parsing response. This error can also be found in your uploaded WindowsUpdate.log. A very short research led to the following:

The error 0x8024400A often occurs in connection with a Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). The reason for this may be that the WSUS configuration was not carried out correctly or the settings were not distributed correctly via the global group policy. Check the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate

Additionally, you can use the WSUSClientDiagTool tool for checking your WSUS settings. BTW, I personally have never been using @ItCoder's proxy server method. Therefore, I can't say more about it.

I'm sorry to say that I can no more afford hosting a proxy server. That can be the error cause. You have to host your own following my instructions (Windows 10/11 works fine for it) and add proxy IP and CA on every client (the installer should do the rest). Anyway, WSUS should not be enabled if you're using my method.

well maybe there should be a inofficial SP4 (including all of these upgrades also the posready ones) for all languages

in a older past there was a ugly solution

someone collected all these upgrades. and then run them via createprocess() function , that took 4 hours or something

a better way would be to set the files and registry entrys manually via registry and file functions

that 4 hours method just runs each update.exe (for every kb upgrade) over and over - until it has the 190 upgrades or something

I am the creator UpdatePacks.
But don't know how to make SP4 of harkaz. It's hard.
Can't make it. I want someone who is better than me to develop it instead.
SP4 of harkaz also has some missing updates and is not complete.

SP4 of harkaz also caused problems with Windows Explorer
and it crashed all the time when left click
when Office 2010 is installed on the machine

x64 should have its own SP3 as it has all the updates.
Who can make it will give all Source Files.
