We are keeping a list of Start Button/Menu replacements here.

The question came up whether we should de-list Windows 7 Explorer for Windows 8, since Tihiy is now focusing on StartIsBack. I had removed it, but it was suggested to check with him if we should remove it.

Let me know -- and Tihiy, keep up the great work. :thumbup

@Tihiy: You didn't answer JorgeA's question. Is "Windows 7 explorer for Windows 8" still ongoing, or has it been fully superceded by StartIsBack?

It's done and gone with 8.1. You can drop it from the list.

But that topic talks about Windows 8, not Windows 8.1. This explorer7 still works fine on W8 in general, right?

Never think time passes by so fast. You made this thread almost a year ago, Tihiy!

too bad i cant stand the metro its just dont fit to desktop user

directing it to apps make it slightly better but still not comfort

Square object and no/barley reaction to hovering make it cheap looking

and every single metro app need account to work what for ?

Microsoft just applying their agenda on us

i will stick to this and windows 8 for now

Aviv,

If you don't like using the applications on the Start Screen at all then I think you have got the best choice of this explorer7.

That sucks bro I really want to disable metro on 8.1 :(

How much are you willing to pay for this privilege?

Do you think that US$ 2.99 is too much for this?

Start is really back!

The missing Windows 8 start menu is back. Get the most useful and authentic start menu for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.

Or possibly for free (but a donation would be appreciated):

Your missing my point what I want is to completely disable metro just like this software!

Just like vinifera said:

I don't mind paying, if it's worth it.

this tool kills the windows.immersiveshell.serviceprovider.dll!CImmersiveShellController::s_ImmersiveShellComponentsThreadProc thread. So you can use ProcExp and kill this and the modern is gone.
