NoelC Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Thanks for that info, Andre,I should get some time to experiment myself soon, but if you have a moment I'd like to ask a few questions (assuming you have already experimented)...Does killing that thread once after login keep it gone? Or does it come back under some situations?Does it save a lot of resources to kill it?Does killing it cause errors in the event logs?-Noel
MagicAndre1981 Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 it doesn't come back (maybe Ms added now a restart, I only found it out during accident in the Release Preview). When you reboot it is back.I can't remember if there are error in the eventlog.
dencorso Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Google and download FxxkMetro.exe this tool kills the windows.immersiveshell.serviceprovider.dll!CImmersiveShellController::s_ImmersiveShellComponentsThreadProc thread. So you can use ProcExp and kill this and the modern is gone. Which tool are you referring to Andre? Win7Exp4Win8 or FxxkMetro?
MagicAndre1981 Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 I refer to FxxkMetro. It kills this thread.

Nzyme Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Tihiy: I understand that this program does not work with Win 8.1 but can you please update this program to provide support for 8.1 as well? This is much wanted due to the low memory usage as Metro is not loaded in memory. Request you to please think about it. Is there a way to completely disable Metro so that Metro apps are not loaded in memory? Thanks! 1
MagicAndre1981 Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 have you tried the tool FxxkMetro from PCBeta?
Mountain Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) will Ex7forW8 working on windos8? Edited September 15, 2014 by Mountain
jaclaz Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 will Ex7forW8 working on windos8? No, of course, it needs Windows 8: Windows 7 explorer.exe for Windows 8 (Ex7forW8)Long story short, i made a wrapper to Windows 7 explorer.exe to run on Windows 8. You can try it now in order to have native Windows 7 desktop experience, without immersive shell bits enabled, saving RAM. New Windows Explorer features like ribbon and file copying are present. WHAT is the actual question? jaclaz
