Haven't tested them yet but you should be actually able to slipstream them with HFSLIP directly without making any changes 

 

 

I was going by what harkaz found and apparently -X- and dencorso confirmed - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171814-posready-2009-updates-ported-to-windows-xp-sp3-enu/, but I don't think any of them have tried using HFSLIP to do this.  I don't have an XP system anymore to test myself.

When I run HFSLIPFC I get the following:

obsolete: HF\WindowsXP-KB956744-x86-ENU.exe (MS09-044: Remote Desktop Connection, replaced by KB2483618).

But according to http://xdot.tk/ the WindowsXP-KB956744-x86-ENU.exe file is the most up to date, and it says nothing about KB2483618.

 

So which is correct?

If I remember correctly there's a thread were I investigated this around here somewhere. It has to do with the optional RDP 5.2 I believe but it's been a while.

From a cursory glance, the latest is actually KB2481109 but KB956744 has some registry data that's missing in KB2481109 so it's needed also.

Found the thread and it brought back why, Sorry for another post but hoping this makes it's way to your inbox.

 

 

 

Here are my findings. I started with SP0 RDP 5.1.
Upgraded to SP2. 5.1
Finally found an installer for 5.2 at http://www.petri.co....oad_rdp_5_2.htm (you must scroll down a bit to Download RDP 5.2 (local download - 677kb)) and installed it. I searched MS for 5.2 and could not find any.
Installing petri's 5.2 it installed 5.2 in Program Files. msts in system32 was unaffected. So you have both versions.
Installed SP3 and it deleted petri's 5.2 from Programs Files. System32 was upgraded to 6.1.
Tried to reinstall 5.2 and it succeeded in installing it in Program Files. So now you have 6.1 and 5.2.
Went to Windows Update and indeed an update for 5.2 was shown.

So in the end 5.2 does not come with any service packs. It's not a stock thing in XP but can be installed from petri's website.

I have a follow up. HFSLIPFC says I should have KB969878, but your website says nothing about it.

So what's the story on that?

 

FYI, I am slipstreaming with a WinXP SP3 CD, without updating IE and such (IE6, WMP9, RDC6 (with RDP 6.1) and MSXML3&6).

 

If that added info modifies your previous response, please let me know.

KB969878 is for file wmavds32.ax. That file doesn't come with XP.

There are five other updates that HFSLIPFC list that isn't on your page:

KB975558, KB2909212, KB961503, KB982316 and KB2264107?

Those are all optional and/or hotfixes files.

 

My list is a bit different than Mim0's. I only do "High-Priority" which is what you would get if you allowed Automatic Updates to update your XP installation or what you would get via Windows Update without going into Software, Optional and adding any of those.

Ok, I think this should be my last two questions in regards to this topic.

 

This one is in regards to 2K. The program says I should have "Windows Script 5.6.0.8831 installer", whose file name is scriptEN.exe.

However I am not able to find it anywhere on the MS website. I can find 5.7, but not 5.6.

 

The program is also saying:

Found Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000---------------------------------------------------------------(HF\Windows2000-KB891861-v2-x86-ENU.EXE)Required for slipstreaming IE6. For multi-core or hyperthreaded CPU use unofficial KB919521/KB891861-v3 or apply a registry fix from KB919521

Where are these files of which it speaks?

You should be aware that the File-Checker for Windows 2000 hasn't been updated for more than 2 years.

 

You shouldn't use it with unofficial updates at all since a lot of things have changed since then. In case of official updates too, several post-EOL fixes have been released by Microsoft after the last update of the File-Checker.

 

For information about different versions of Script, Update Rollup 1, etc. you can use the updates list on my website.

I decided to download your HFSLIP_ia.7z and use that, as in a previous post of yours you state that using your files will create the most updated version of Win2K. Am I correct to assume this is still the case?

 

The only thing I changed was removing the following files:

And adding the following files:

IE5.01sp4-KB938127-Windows2000sp4-x86-ENU.exeIE5.01sp4-KB982381-Windows2000sp4-x86-ENU.exeOE5.5sp2-KB978542-Windows2000-x86-ENU.exe

I am doing this due to using the FDV fileset.

 

So.... and I doing this correctly? Are there any other IE5 update files that I might need?
