I apologize if my issue/question has already been addressed elsewhere. I spent a few hours searching but failed to find anything. In the 29.x.x versions of MyPal I am able to install all my add-ons without issues. However, in the 68.x.x versions every single one fails with a "This add-on could not be installed because it appears to be corrupt" error message. Has anyone else encounter the same issue, and is there a resolution? A separate question: The 29.x.x versions look a lot like NewMoon/PaleMoon/SeaMonkey - which I like. The 68.x.x versions look a lot like Chrome - which I do not like. Of course function comes before form - but why was this change made, and is there a way to make it look like former? Again - sorry if these things have been addressed and I suck at finding them.

Hey all, long time no see. Been out of the loop due to IRL issues and such over the past few years. Haven't done a slipstream of 2k since 2014ish. I am in the process of putting together a new machine to run not only win2k, but also win98. I am sure there has been some major updates and developments done on win2k since then (7 years). Instead of me trying to go through 7 years of post and try to figure-out and piecemeal the most recent version of things, could someone kindly guide me to the link(s) to the most updated/best versions as of Jan of 2021? Ok. Updates. I found the Spreadtrum Phone drivers: https://androidmtk.com/download-spreadtrum-drivers So that took care of the 8 "Spreadtrum Phone" devices that error out - so super happy about that. But still no joy on the MTP. I installed the runtimes for WMP11, and still no joy. The Device Instance Id is: USB\VID_1782&PID_4002&MI_00\6&28446CCE&0&0000

I have to say this is one of the best replies I have ever gotten in a forum like this! So what I have done thus far: Enabled dev mode on my android tablet and enabled USB debugging. Downloaded and installed Android ADB drivers on PC. Plugged in my tablet into my PC it errors out on the MTP, it recognizes and installs "Android Composite ADB Interface" with no issues, and then it errors out on 8 "Spreadtrum Phone"s. The error for the MTP and Spreadtrum Phone's is the normal "The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software". I'm using Dell Optiplex 360, running a slipstreamed version of WinXP. I used both nLite and hfslip to create it. Don't know which nLite options I selected, as it has been well over a decade since I created it. I did exclude IE from being included - I know I did at least that. lol So I can't help but think there is some DLL from the WinXP CD that MTP is dependent on that I excluded - as this has been the case with many other hardware/software issues in the past. So I was optimistically hoping to get "oh yeah, nLite excludes xxxxxxxx.xxx from the install that MTP needs, so you only just need to extract it and copy it to the xxxxxxxx directory" or the like. I had already tried modding the wpdmtp.inf to include the Device Instance Id of the MTP - but no joy. I will try the installing of WMP11. Most posts addressing this issue I found via google suggested this - but all the people who tried and replied reported failures, or they already had it installed. This is why I hadn't tried that yet - but will and report back.

Hey, been many years since I posted on here. I hope all are doing well. So I am trying to connect my Android tablet to my good ol' slipstreamed WinXP machine. When I plug it in the PC tried to install MTP drivers and fail. I have tried for several hours the many tips/ideas posted in various places online - all with no joy. Then it dawned on me...... maybe I am just missing a file or two that I had excluded. So any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I just discovered today, while trying to troubleshoot something, that my system doesn't have MSINFO32. I am wondering what options did I have selected in nLite that would have removed this? Is there a way to install MSINFO32 now, without having to create a new ISO and reinstall my OS? Thanks in advance

Wow, thank you for the links! None of the aplly to this current situations, but it was very informative and educational - never really knew about ADSs. My NAS is a WD My Book World Edition. It uses teh XFS file system - so no ADSs on the files coming from it. As I see it now: the issue is that WinXP is seeing anything with an IP address as INTERNET. Win2K is smart enough to know that the IP address with 192.168.X.X is INTRANET, why doesn't WinXP?

Thanks for the reply. As I stated, using the machine name (thanks for reminding me of the term) works fine under IE6 - its when I use the IP address that it hiccups. For some reason every so often the NAS gets amnisia and forgets its name. So in order to connect to it I have to reboot it - very annoying. However if I map using the IP, if it gets amnisia the map still works! WinXP for what ever reason changed its criteria and is making IP address INTERNET. So I need to somehow get XP to act like 2K. Thank you so much for that link! I'm going to make a iso with the IE core files included and try that. I'll post the results later.

Maybe I didn't ask my question correctly. I am not using HTTP nor FTP. I am accessing files on a NAS using mapped network drives of the shared folders on the NAS. Whenever I try to copy or move or run files on the NAS, these security warnings pop up. So what value would I use, as HTTP nor FTP sound right in this situation. Reading what you linked, and doing other research I found some stuff out: There is an issue with how IE appoints an item as intranet or internet. If you map a drive using the IP address it shows up as INTERNET due to the usage of the dots!!! So annoying - Win2K never did such a thing! So the alleged work around is to add the IP address into the "INTRANET SITES" in the IE settings. However if I used the name of the NAS to map, it still was showing as INTERNET. I created a new slipstream, this time I got rid of the IE8 files, just just used the IE6. This fixed the error with the name, but not the IP. I created a new slipstream with the IE core files. I added the IP to the "INTRANET SITES", but the drive is still showing as INTERNET. BTW: I stated in the other thread that I used nLite to remove IE, not the FDV file set. Thanks for the help thus far.

Before I was trying to JUST use HFSLIP. So me using nLite at all was a "break down" and compromise. lol

I wish to disable these warnings. I access many files from a networked server, so this warning pops up constantly. I wish to disable it. The instuctions online to resolve this issue require ne to go into IE and modify the zones. Problem with that is that I, via nLite, removed IE - so I'm not able to implement their solutions. Seeing that I have removed IE, its odd that this warning even exists. Anyone have any ideas?

Ok, this is what I found out. To give a background to my porcessing: I first run nLite to slipstream hotfixes and addons, and to remove components. I then run HFSLIP do slipstream various files and REG, etc (yes submix - I finally caved into using nLite due to all the hickups I was getting from the FDV fileset and a lack of responce from FDV to resolve/trouble shoot them). After much trails, and analisit I discovered that HFSLIP will OVERWRITE and SVCPACK.INF file that might exist. This is why the addons were not installing - cause the SVCPACK.INF file that had there command lines was overwritten. So what I ended up doing was modifying the .CMD file so that instead of overwritting it appends. After doing such resolved the issue.

I'm having the same issue with the desktop tab missing. What needs to be done to reslove this?

I downloaded some AddOns to install with nLite. The ones for dotNet work fine, but the ones for the programs (like 7-Zip) do not. Looking at the modied folder, I see the installer files in the SVCPACK folder - but they are not actually being installed. As far as I know, from watching nLite run, it first integrates the hot fixes - then it removes the components. Just like even though I have the various IE8, their components are removed per my selection of them.

I have nLite setup to remove Windows Update. After running the WUA.exe file is still there. In fact, if I run nLite again and select the modifed folder it shows Windows Update being active. However if I follow through with the second run it does in fact remove it. So why won't it remove it the first time, requiring me to run it twice? Attached are the last session ini's. I renamed the as Phase 1 and Phase 2 to show the process. Phase 1.ini Phase 2.ini

Solved the issue by enabling "Map Network Drives\Network Places Wizard". In fact, in the info in the right panel (which I couldn't fully read until I enlarged the program's screen) says directly that this option needs to ne enabled for this function!

I have some very long help messages that are being truncated. For some reason the text of the help message starts about 1/3 the way in from the left edge of the screen. Is there a way to change the margin, or column that the help message starts? I know that HELPMSGROW controls what row it starts, what about the column? Thanks in advance.

Its been 11yrs - why hasn't this issue been fixed by MS? Has anyone found any type of fix or work around. From my experiemtning, is seems that the following reg entries: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]"SearchSystemDirs"=dword:00000001"SearchHidden"=dword:00000001"IncludeSubFolders"=dword:00000001"CaseSensitive"=dword:00000000"SearchSlowFiles"=dword:00000000are ignored by the Classic Search unless one selects the Advanced box. And also Classic Search ignores the: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Search Assistant]"UseAdvancedSearchAlways"=dword:00000001So how do we get Classic Search to see these, or what reg entries will it see? I hope we can finally get a solution - especially since this has been complained about for over 11 years!

Ok, got a big problem. I think this might be a bug that MS never fixed - I hope I'm wrong. In Win2K, when you do a search, it by default looks for system files and subfolders. If you have hidden files showing, it would also return files that are hidden. In WinXP, if you use the "Classic" setting, it by default DOES NOT system files and subfolders. If you have hidden files showing, it WILL NOT return files that are hidden. I have it set to delete all the languages and keyboards except for Hebrew. After running the program the following files are left in the LANG folder: CHSBRKR.DL_ CHTBRKR.DL_ IMEPADEN.HL_ IMEPADSM.DL_ IMEPADSV.EX_ IMLANG.DL_ KORWBRKR.DL_ KORWBRKR.LE_ MSIR3JP.DL_ MSIR3JP.LE_ NOISE.CH_ NOISE.JP_ NOISE.KO_ Now the IM* make sense, but all the Chinese, Japanese, and Korean files do not. I even tried adding these files to the "DELETE BOX", both with "LANG\" before the names and just the names themselves - but the files persist. So why doesn't nLite remove these files, and what can I do to remove them with nLite? Thanks in advance.

There is no box saying "netplwiz". So which box(es) remove this file?
