Well it clearly says there in the link that the highest you can go is a 1.3GHz Processor. If you want to get an AThlon XP 2200 you would need a matching Motherboard to go with it.

Nope I have it entered to specifically accept cookies from msfn.org in my Privacy Settings.

When I log into the Forum main page, it says: "There has been 8 threads & 12 posts since your last visit!" But when I click on the button "Click here to view all new posts", there are no new posts.

Looks like a reformat would solve the problem. It seems all the other options have failed.

That's exactly what happened to me. On my next reformat I chose not to reinstall the version 5. It's quite annoying to have 2 messenger programs. To remedy this I use XP-Antispy, it has an option exactly for this: http://www.xp-antispy.de/index.html?/depth.htm

I know Asus has a temp monitor for their cards but it takes away from the card's performance to have it active. It's called Smartdoctor if I remember correctly.

I use Intel Active Monitor (you must have an Intel Motherboard).

I've never experienced any speed gain from tinkering with those services. Has anyone noticed any speed improvements?

That is the normal method of updating to the latest platinum version. Worked fine for me using a Sony cdrw. When you go to hardware profiles does it say what make your cd drives are?
