No, Fallout 3 ISN'T anything like Oblivion anymore. The Fighting system is lots different with the Elder Scrolls (Oblivion) fighting system, Fallout 3 is a bit smaller then Oblivion and every character (a few 100s in the game) have all a different voice, so this isnt really compared to Oblivion, but yes, (lots of commas ) some stuff in the game like talking to characters, many different quests and all those things, are made the same way as in Oblivion. *phew* Much talking ehh? Yes on the outside, concerning game elements, size of the world map, number of characters, etc, you are correct, it is very different. What isn't different is that it uses a modified/updated Gamebryo Engine and an obvious improvement is DirectX 10+ support, which was not in the version that Oblivion used.

What hard drives do you have at home
Tripredacus replied to lawrencep93's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
You'll beat me for sure! 1x 20GB 1x 20GB 1x 120GB 160GB + 20GB in Win98 PC 180GB Don't know about my 8 notebooks tho... probably not enough to crack 200GB tho. wait I got a 4GB Ipod too... does that count? -
Ghostserver was checked out by our Server Lord on Friday and he "fixed it" only to fail about 30 minutes later. So he checked it again and recommended that we replace one of the drives to rebuild the array. Today I got a new Western Digital 250GB SATA II RAID Edition drive, which is now waiting for the Server Lord to come into work tomorrow. I got to come in early this morning to pull a migration. We moved the production Ghost/File Server (Vistaserver) across the room. Rewire the room. Remove 4 NetGear routers. Renamed the WDS to Imagex. Added Vistaserver to the domain. Wrote up a new SoP for the Imagex Server regarding file usage and naming conventions, access privledges, etc. We are still suffering from the .83% Upload limit for whatever reason, which is delaying me updating all the Vista images. I get to contact a dude at Microsoft about that, since I get better results on an upload to Uncle Socks than to Imagex. Makes no sense to me really. Deployment times are averaging around 2 minutes for a 3GB+ image... not too bad eh? An additional difference is that after joining Vistaserver to the domain, and logging into the domain, it stopped allowing remote connections without a password. Previously it was set up to automatically accept all incoming connections with the Guest account. I'm not sure if it really matters enough for me to change that back. Currently, Sixshot is swapped out and is being used to recreate standard Vista images, to be used until I craft up some autounattend goodness to launch from the distribution share.

[GUIDE] Creating WIM images of Windows XP for system deployment using
Tripredacus replied to IcemanND's topic in Windows PE
XP images are hardware (HAL, Mass Storage) dependent, but Vista are not. For Vista, generalizing will only remove the display adapter (and unsigned drivers) if redeployed to like hardware. Probably a little offtopic here, but its relatively easy to swap HALs with DEVCON and VBScript. (I'm sure there are even easier ways, but thats what I used long ago...) Yes, this process is covered here as well. http://www.msfn.org/board/WDS-WinPE-HALs-XP-Vis-t115243.html -
You missed it there. It was listed, here is the link: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...228〈=en You need to put this file on a floppy disk. Of course you can't just put the zip or exe on there, but the INF, CAT, SYS and other files inside of it. Then you can either put these in with nLite or hit the F6 during the Text Mode Setup of Windows.

You can get the driver from Intel's website by looking up your motherboard or card model, or by going to driverpacks.net. Is the Network Adapter not showing up properly in Device Manager?
-
You cannot make a USB 1.1 controller into a USB 2.0 controller by using software. That is determined by the hardware itself. I wouldn't worry about what name Windows has for it in Device Manager, just as long as it works properly. The drivers for USB Controllers are in Windows. So if you want a newer driver, install the latest service pack. But honestly, USB Drivers haven't changed much except for bugfixes in certain situations. The sure-fire bet to see if it is a USB 2.0 Controller is to plug a USB Disk Drive (UFD, Jump Drive, Dongle, whatever) into it, or a Camera, and see if it says "This Device Can Perform Faster". If you get that message, it isn't USB 2.0. If you don't get that message, unless you have an older device, it should be. There are exceptions, for example, the Asus EEE PC says their ports are USB 2.0 when in fact they have USB 2.0 controllers but the ports actually run at 1.1 speeds.

Changing Default Driver Search Location.
Tripredacus replied to YMatrix's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
You want to put your path in as follows: key = HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DevicePath type = REG_EXPAND_SZ default value = %SystemRoot%\inf; example value = %SystemRoot%\inf;G:; The line with Installation Sources in your post is formatted wrong. HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\Installation Sources = C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache G:\ ! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------^ -
Maybe try running the updates before you install the software. I always install updates after NIC is installed but before everything else.

Did you check to make sure they didn't get renamed on you? http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb490901.aspx

This happens usually because Windows is busy doing something else, and redrawing the screen isn't its highest priority. If it is a rare condition then that is ok, it happens to almost everyone. You can try updating your video driver, but that might not be enough if this happens all the time. But if it is happening all the time, you might want to look at your system performance, like RAM, Hard Disk space, and number of programs running. You may also have some badly written programs with memory leaks/holes that do not clear data out of memory when it is done using it (like old versions of firefox) that might be affecting your computer as well.

You do realise that Fallout 3 is Oblivion with higher requirements right?

In addition, I would really like to know how to do string searches in Vista...

I can't play oblivion already tried XP SP2 and the others but didnt work. Please help! Post your specs and which version you are using. You used to be able to play Gold version with a helper app called Oldblivion. I haven't tracked its current versions but after the Shivering Isles patch came out, you couldn't run Oblivion below spec. Also what errors are you getting? <--- was Oblivion Mod beta tester

Not knowing which Operating System you are refering to, an exact answer is impossible. Try reading this to get started or give you an idea. http://www.msfn.org/board/TEXTMODE-MassSto...ive-t19792.html

I'm confused about the many different programs called GImageX... some of these need to get changed. -
I believe that the DOS Window runs at a display resolution allowed by the mode.com program. My LCD (NEC Accusync LCD 72vx) says that the command prompt in Windows 98 at full screen runs at 720x400. This resolution is not supported by your monitor. SeePage 30. http://www.necdisplay.com/cms/documents/Us...als/20WMGX2.pdf I do not know if it is possible to configure what resolution the command prompt displays as.

Are these updates from the Windows Update website? Check the Event Viewer to see if there are any warnings or errors there. Updates usually get logged there. There is also a file you can check for errors. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902093

uBB does it that way I think.

Its possible with some server-side recoding, but it would be pretty silly to do it just for one guy. Example, View New Posts - nlite and vlite forums.

I sometimes switch to Lo-Fi version and save or print the page.

GHOSTSERVER decided to take a crap yesterday at 14:10. I noticed my VM box wasn't getting an IP (and I needed to test an IP app I wrote) so I checked the server. I hit the button for the KVM but the screen is black. The server is still running (can hear its loudness from under the desk) so maybe it is asleep? Well I press the Ctrl+Alt+Del to see what happens, but it actually started to boot up? The usual DEGRADED welcome screen on the 3Ware came up, and it booted into Windows. The event viewer says that the computer experienced an unexpected shutdown at 14:10 on 10/01/08, but the computer clearly wasn't off when I "rebooted" it today. Anyone know what may have happened? PS: the mouse stopped working on it too... annoying using Event Viewer with the keyboard.
