  1. Make sure you are using the 64bit Vista driver on your disk when you do the F6. Did you build the RAID already or are you wanting to do it afterwards? With RAID0, you only get 1 volume, and if the correct Mass Storage Driver is loaded, you will only see 1 drive, not two.
  2. You might need to reinstall your chipset drivers.
  3. Huh? I'm confused - what flaw? Just because software uses a network doesn't make it flawed, so I'm confused as to what flaw you speak of. I think he means when "a" flaw is found.
  4. My best friend from high school, his house was a really bad house and his parents were slobs. Comparatively, their house was very clean, at least they didn't leave garbage laying in huge piles all over the place.
  5. In Windows XP there is a JPG in Windows\Web called autumn.jpg. It is 800x600. Today I started making an Active Desktop wallpaper design (I will post it here once it is done) with that as the background but I encountered a problem. The user who the desktop is for is using 1024x768. Is there a true (upscaled) 1024x768 version of this image? I am not saying take the 800x600 and increase the size, because I want to be rid of the extra pixelation and artifacts that causes. I've exhausted my search of The Google and also checked DeviantArt but I can't find anything. Thanks.
  6. Are you on a Windows domain? I am thinking perhaps you need to add the local admin account into the Group your account is located in.
  7. Well I'm not sure what its like nowadays, but I had used the carnivore on radius back in 2001 but it just recorded hex data for the most part. It wasn't very intuitive but we (an ISP i won't mention) could get logins (and MD5 hashed passwords) from accounts to everything like email, websites, IM and whole conversations or whatever else. Mostly we used it when we were bored and look for people who were downloading porn and laugh at the file names. Or am I not supposed to talk about that stuff...
  8. That's it??? I have access to a few hundred terabytes (maybe a few petabytes) across Canada. Ya I'm over a 5TB at work also but not any PB and none in Canada either.
  9. Forgot to update yesterday. We pulled out the Ghostserver, opened it up just to find out that it had a hot-swap SAS enclosure... So anyways the 3Ware firmware was saying that SATA 0 was a problem, so we pulled it. Take a look to see and it says Western Digital 400GB RAID Edition... Right well back into stock goes that 250GB and to hunt for the 400GB. It seems that the 400 isn't as popular as the 250 for some reason and we don't actively stock them anymore. I went into the back and found the LAST REMAINING ONE IN THE BUILDING! Well actually I did find a few more later but they were not usuable as they were up for sale on The Ebay. So we swapped out the holder and put the new drive in. Then we boot up the server and go into the 3Ware and... It doesn't see ANY drives... So right now the server is SOL until we can figure out how to make the 3Ware see at least one of the drives. The most challenging part was getting the server out from where it was sitting. I didn't really figure I'd ever have to move it EVER so I kinda wired up the KVM system around it... woops. And so it took 3 people to move the thing out of there, 2 to pick up the server and 1 to hold the KVM switch up...
  10. I use Windows Media Player and Winamp edit: I forgot I use Nero ShowTime Essentials and CyberLink PowerDVD also.
  11. The main question you should be asking is whether or not you want to do it by the book or not. Using a single license in an image will allow the software to work on multiple computers, but in most cases EULAs do not legally allow you to do it that way. The exceptions are going to be software that requires activation, such as Windows or Office, and you do not have a volume license. Other programs (like WinRaR or others) may give you problems if you attempt to register or download updates if their update site tracks info from the source computer or not. An example of something I used to do was install Nero 7 with 1 CD Key, and use that in an image. Of course Nero gives you an option to change the CD Key. Each computer had its own disc with the CD Key printed on the back, but for all intents and purposes, Nero would work just fine that way. We do not do it like that anymore, however and now following the licensing requirements provided by the software manufacturer... this is to say that in the past maybe whoever was running the show (and thankfully isn't now) either was an old guard or simply didn't care as long as our own customers were satisfied. In most cases, installing demo or trialware that features an unlocking mechanism is the best method to install programs. Otherwise post-install will be your only other option.
  12. I think its fun when I try to help people with problems I have no experience in. I am good at general ideas sometimes that make other people remember or think of something to try. Either way, it usually turns out to be a learning experience for myself anyways. Glad I could help.
  13. Not knowing how exactly your AD is set up, it could be overriden. Say, for example, there is some folder or accout or Group or OU permission that has a Special Permission with a Deny checked for something, this can override using the SYSTEM. Or perhaps a GPO is set to disallow something that the installer needs for that user. Do you get a specific error? Also make sure to use the following: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc758958.aspx From Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Administrator's Pocket Consultant: Is your Logon Script a batch file? You could try recoding as AutoIT (or similar) and set Runas option to an account with administrative access.
  14. This could be a couple problems. I will ramble this off maybe it will help you. 1. The OPSI client is a service that you should see in the Services snap-in. See what account is used for Log On. Make sure that account has full permissions to anyplace it needs like Program Files or Application Data or Local Settings\Temp. If you have any GPOs running that disable any folder access, check those also. As a test, you could try setting the Log On account to something else if the account specified is not in an Administrators group. Alternatively, if it uses a special account, you could add that account to the Local Administrators group. 2. Check to make sure that the installation is not being blocked by any anti-virus programs. There are cases on our servers where the antivirus will halt a program from executing and not show anything about it, so at first we think that the program is just busted.
  15. Compressing the C drive is a bad idea only in the fact that you will add a delay everytime you try to use the compressed files as Windows will have to expand them before accessing them. Typically you only should compress files that are not used or accessed frequently. As an example, you could compress archived data, or the i386 folder, but not the User Profile, the config folder or Temporary Internet Files.
  16. I hear about GOTOMYPC on the radio, its supposed to be similar to Logmein.
  17. There may be certain drivers for some DEVICES that have trouble at USB 2.0, but not the controllers.
  18. Resource Tuner Console http://www.soft32.com/download_129097.html possibly... XN Resource Editor http://www.wilsonc.demon.co.uk/d10resourceeditor.htm based on a post in this thread: http://www.virtualplastic.net/msgboard/thr...&thread=334
  19. You need a separator in the line. Like a semicolon as in my path example.
  20. I was also wondering from reading the manual. It says that on the secondary inputs (not HDMI or DVI) you could set the screen to display at actual size. Wouldn't this mean you would have a really tiny DOS box in the middle of the screen surrounded by black?
  21. Hallo, Are you running the install off the network resource? Do you have the option of copying the install to the client and then running it from there? Sometimes we have this problem also because the network traffic can interfere with running a program from the network share.
  22. What Server is running your domain? What user is running the script? You may need to add that user into the proper group.
  23. I say that because sometimes an update will allow you to properly install a driver. We don't just to XP, but other Windows. And one example is the UUA driver that you need the hotfix (KB888111) for (sometimes) in order to properly install the sound driver.
  24. No, whether you are using a dual or quad CPU, it is still the same HAL.DLL so you won't have to worry. When you boot up for the first time, Vista will silently detect and install the new processor and will make any changes without you knowing. At worse, it will pop activation but I doubt it.
