  1. My secondary WDS boots to PXELinux by default but I could not get WDS exceptions to work. I got the guide from here: http://www.deployvista.com/Home/tabid/36/EntryID/65/language/en-US/Default.aspx Our topic about it is here:
  2. I didn't even update. You can use the RTM WAIK for SP1.
  3. Technically, it runs twice. Check the timestamps on the log file you are looking at. Specialize is run during initial setup, and then is run after you sysprep. There are two Panther folders. One is for the first install and the other is for sysprep.
  4. The image in the recovery partition should be activated already.
  5. This question came up here before. I've got an SB Live in my Win98 but I had bought this and have the CD for it still. I had emailed it to a user back in 2008, who responded with a "battlecruiser operational" however I can't find the files. I'll try to remember to look for the CD at home.
  6. PATA aka Parallel ATA, previously synonymous with IDE, E-IDE, ATAPI, etc. If neither PATA nor SATA, also probably not SCSI. Phoenix Technologies is your BIOS. What brand of PC is it? If still not sure, go into Device Manager and go into the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers section. Look at the properties of any of the PCI IDE controllers, details tab. Then drop-down to Hardware Ids. Post one of the PCI\VEN lines.
  7. Please read the forum rules. This thread has been answered and will also be closed.
  8. I doubt you'd successfully be able to clone the partitions separately like that and get it to work. The recovery partition should be hidden, and it likely uses an HDD locking string. A sector copy (disk to disk) would be a better method to start with.
  9. Your question is a little specialized for the general Win7 forum. Moving to customizing.
  10. 1. The choice of 32bit or 64bit isn't so much a choice like that, unless you built your install.wim to have one of each in it. Setup will display a list of the images in the install.wim. 2. You should be using an Autounattend and specify the Reseal to Audit Mode switch instead. 3. You need to sysprep and generalize before capture. You need only capture the C. If there is a system reserved partition you don't need to capture that, Sysprep will recreate those files, but you do need to create it on the destination clients first. You do your capture after shutting down. After sysprep is run, if the system is allowed to reboot, the Deployable flag is reset. 4. The PC will stay in whatever mode it is in until you tell it otherwise. 5. Use an answer file with sysprep to create both users.
  11. You certainly can do this with both WinPE and even Unattended XP. I'll put this topic in XP unattend for now. Hopefully won't have to move it again!
  12. None of my scripts for moving shortcuts about have worked in Win7 or Vista. I never put in the effort to figure out why.
  13. Quake II works on Win98. As does Return to Castle Wolfenstein, I'm Going In, Quake 3, Quake, Max Payne, GTA III, Heroes of Might and Magic and Heroes of Might and Magic II. Diablo. I'll try to remember what else I had on my Win98 PC.
  14. Its usually a bad practice to build a website like this. The reason you are getting this is because there are fonts on the webserver and the page's styles say to use those. Unfortunately, a client browser can't use those fonts without installing them. I'd choose the NO option and email the webmaster and complain about it.
  15. That works! How did you get that list? When I run with 'command' param it just opens the program.
  16. This notebook is a rebranded whitebook model. From what I can tell it is an Inventec w14, however the shell design looks to be an HP. I have seen this notebook before but I can't remember what it is. So BenQ S41, Acer Aspire 9800, Inventec W14, zepto 6214 are the same. But they have different shells. here is a pic for reference: http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/2023/laptopopenij1.jpg S41 and S42 use the same shells. I give up trying to find the manual for you! But there are only so many ways to get the keyboard out. Try looking at this: http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2007/08/30/removing-replacing-laptop-keyboard/ Look for buttons too, some you just need to press a couple of clips to get it out.
  17. Uninstalling the drives in Device Manager isn't going to do very much anyways. You may want to try to update chipset drivers. What kind of drives are these? PATA or SATA? What motherboard do you have? Can your PC boot off a CD like a Linux Live CD, Memtest or anything? Do the drives work in Safe Mode?
  18. Explorer is not likely causing a problem. After shutdown is called, Windows will begin ending processes. There is a timer for how long after the end is sent and Explorer will force close the process. There is a registry setting that determines this. Explorer won't close until all of the processes it has under its "umbrella" has been closed. If you open up Procexp (at any time, not during shutdown) you can see the parent and child processes to get a clear idea of what I mean.
  19. I never have seen the reason to specify anything in the Audit Pass. You'd only want Reseal to be used to go to Audit system. You would only use Reseal with oobeSystem in an answer file using sysprep and the /unattend switch. For best examples, look at the sample files here:
  20. I've had this happen before but I don't remember what causes it. Deus Ex is a great game, it and only SoF had great ways to screw with cut-scenes. I'll use an example you can try out to see for yourself. In Deus Ex, you will occassionally have to go talk to someone in the office. Go pick up a plant and then go talk to the person. JC will drop the plant once the conversation starts, but it will be in the cut-scene. Soldier of Fortune was similar to this, by using the actual game to do the cut-scene. Usually it would be triggered by entering a door-way. The NPC actors would be in the other room and they were able to be killed. So you could open the door, toss a grenade in and close the door. There would be a big boom and some people would be killed. Then enter the room and the cut-scene starts. Last time I did this, I was having a coversation with 2 people, but one was "dead" so when it was his turn to talk, both my char and the NPC look at the space where the guy is supposed to be while he is supposed to be talking. Because this actually worked, I knew it was possible to actually snipe Saddam Hussein at the end, but never could get the timing right before the cut-scene happens. Sorry for derail...
  21. I gave up trying to figure that one out. I could never get a VM to do a PXE boot, so I do all my work on actual hardware.
  22. I've got a doozy here, it is Intel's Always Aware software, packaged by ASI. If you want to check out this software yourself, it is located on their FTP: ftp://65.106.72.164/Notebook/SP_Series/SP15-DIS(UMA)/ASI_Driver/Win7Vista_32(64-bit)/05_Intel-AA_(DIS)_1.6.0.75.zip It consists of 5 folders, which each contain a setup.exe and an .msi file. In the root is an Intel-AA.exe which does not use any switches. You can pass them but it always will open in interactve mode. I checked the .exe and can't find any switches in it. The installer has the standard MFC icon and is called "SetupLaunch version 1.0" which Google knows nothing about. So to another angle, maybe I can just silent each of the setup.exe by themselves. Starting with the Accelerometer, using any of the following results in error: /S /S /v/qn /quiet /q /s /WHYWONTYOUINSTALL The error is: MSIInstallProduct returned '1639' So I checked the ResHack on it and there is a 41\SETUPCFG item in it that makes it appear to be a multipackage MSI installer. Check the spoiler for the code from that. Any idea how to silent this type of installer? I only need silent and no-restart. The app's vendor (ASI) does not know how to do it either, and frankly they told me they've never been asked this question before? Give it a shot, I'm out of ideas.
  23. Your piparms.cmd has an option to go to :ntOsok but there is nothing in that section. Also, not sure, do you need to actually define something for :EOF or is that a built in function?
  24. I usually see a lot of older games at thrift and second-hand stores. I usually don't buy them most of the time. Those stores don't usually pay enough attention to the fact that they are games (unless they are in the original box) and are "hidden" away in the music CDs. You should check that idea out. As far as NT4, I know you can play the Quake II demo on it...
  25. It doesn't have to be a network share to use this. As a standalone, you just need to change the drive letter (see the post before yours) to point where the images are located. Even if you don't do this, you can use the Browse button to select the correct drive.
