  1. Why do you need the Administrator account? I usually just create 2 accounts (if needed) with 1 local admin account (at least) and 1 local user account, then login with whatever. I ask this of clients too that want to use the Administrator (built-in) account, what do you need it for? And usually no one can give a reason for it.
  2. Is there a reason why you need the driver installed first? Is something not working properly after Windows Update installs the correct driver?
  3. use IcemanND's guide to learn to create a WinPE CD:
  4. Actually, I'd use the forum a lot on that part. I've never tried to do an unattend and join a PC to a domain, so I have little knowledge on that entire process and how to fix it. I just read other users posts and try to figure something out based on them.
  5. You should be fine to block this port on the firewall, as it has some known exploits attached to it, such as DDoS and remote code execution attacks. I found this on another site, but won't link to it because of some page content. This will at least tell you what is using that port and lead you on a path to see whether or not this is causing a problem on your system.
  6. I know what you are saying now. let me use an example from my system. In my Start Menu, Windows Update shows up, and the properties say the shortcut exists in the path you posted about. However, in that folder (from explorer) that shortcut does not exist. There are file links between files in some folders, so they actually live somewhere else. Here are some possible locations: C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu Instead of Roaming, there may be a Local folder. My PC does not have a Windows folder in Local. Go to C:\Users\Default\AppData to see what you have. The Public folder does not have an AppData folder, or at least (again) my PC doesn't.

  8. The 2010 dates are normal. You can ignore those. The problem appears to be that your domain join fails, yet the OS still attempts to log in. 2011-06-17 10:43:42, Error [DJOIN.EXE] Unattended Join: NetJoinDomain failed error code is [2691] 2011-06-17 10:43:42, Error [DJOIN.EXE] Unattended Join: Unable to join; gdwError = 0xa83 The fact you have a .\ means it is not liking the domain name you have specified? Have you tried specifying the short domain name instead of the fully qualified domain name? Also a usage recommendation... you should have an account created in AD that is used for joining computers to the domain, rather than actually using the main domain admin account. Anywawys, Windows is trying to log into the local Administrator account, but that account is disabled. I also see that OOBE does not see an OOBE pass, and that you are not creating a local user account! I wouldn't think you could log into a system that (technically) has no accounts. You should create at least one local account to be added into the Administrators group, even if you never actually use it. Your generated Unattend also is showing this: <JoinWorkgroup>WORKGROUP</JoinWorkgroup> So let's try to figure out why your system can't join the domain. Can you confirm that the system has an IP address at the time it attempts to join the domain? If you are not certain, you should be able to check your DHCP server for an IP lease. EDIT: the "NetJoinDomain failed error code is [2691]" error in the log means the client could not reach the DC.
  9. Also, what does this server actually do? Is it slow to the clients, or actually at the console itself? Are you using a RAID, if so does its diagnositcs software say it is healthy?
  10. I think Viper Racing is still popular. Its not NASCAR by any means. I'm not sure what's going on in the PC world, I'm still only playing NASCAR 07 on the PS2.
  11. Yeah I had called Realtek once before regarding a NIC issue. They don't really have the software or drivers for specific (actual) boards like you'd think they would. I had managed to get a NIC ROM from their engineering department, but it didn't work out exactly as you'd expect, since the stuff they have are specific only to their chips. So it doesn't take into account for HOW their chips are being used in whatever piece of hardware you are using. In the end, its always best to go to the board manufacturer to (hopefully) solve whatever the issue is, rather than going directly to Realtek.
  12. What is your network setup like? Do you have an IP address on your wireless nic?
  13. It sometimes boggles my mind as well...

  15. I am not aware of a way to do that.
  16. It is currently a topic of discussion for sure. We may not do anything until the next forum update comes out. But for now we just have to monitor it for anything too far out there. The reason you are seeing this is because users have tied their Twitter account to their MSFN account. So after you enable this, when you tweet, it will show up in the Status update. I haven't done it myself yet, and I don't see a reason to. I definately check them out, but if anyone sees something that is not technology related OR is an obvious rule violation (warez, pages to sell things, offensive or pornography, etc) definately let one of us know. Currently I don't think you can report a status update like a post, so either make a post here or send a PM. We do have the ability to remove status updates if needed. B)
  17. I'd better not even attempt it at work. My video card can't even handle Aero!
  18. We've helped you out with drivers before, so try to remember this next time you ask for help with them. You need to post the HwID of each of these devices. Those terms you see in Device Manager are too generic for us to guess, especially since no one else here might end up having the same notebook you have. You can find the HwID on the Details tab of the device properties.
  19. It seemed to take a long time but I eventually had gotten the info from Symantec forum. Here is my post here about it:

  21. It appears your forum link does not allow guests to view it.
  22. All of your logs look fine, so I am thinking that the deployment actually works. I might agree with the display driver problem. The reason you can't go into safe mode right away is because the system should still be in OOBE. I have found other cases where this same thing has happened. I guess the ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 only has XP support. See if you can find a Vista driver and put it in your image (make a copy if you want) and try that. You could also try hooking up an external monitor to the system and see if that makes any difference. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itproinstall/thread/28ee0549-8fd2-4f50-92d1-c110d0254ecb
  23. I deleted your crosspost. Also it was in the nLite forum. Hope you know you can't use nLite for business use.
  24. If you had purchased a retail copy of Windows XP, you can request replacement media. There is a KB about it: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326246
  25. You can try using SignTool in the .NET Framework. Here is its documentation. I've never used it myself but that should be a starting point.
