You'll need to have a program do this, probably on first logon. For example, you can have a program write to a txt file (formatted properly of course) then it will put the data input and save to the text file. Then after all the data is collected, you can use netsh -f location.txt to set the network settings. I don't know if there are any programs out there that can do this already.

Well that link talks about the GUID of the icon, is it the same as the GUID for the program? Anyways, for a program, you can find its GUID for sure by finding its Uninstall string in the registry. They should be the same every time, but do a test install on something and check it out.

Does this card reader also plug into your PC's power supply? After a restart, go check out Device Manager to see if maybe the driver got flagged. Also, post the make and model of the CR if you know it.

I am experiencing a similar issue with my PC locking up as you. Only rarely do I lose picture. I am not certain what my issue is, but I'm going to guess video card as well. Do you run two different resolutions on both displays? Does your video card support those heat/health monitor programs I've heard about?

Starting with SP2, XP can change from UP to MP HAL during first boot on a sysprepped image. Supposedly it can also do this on an image that is in Factory, Audit or OOBE mode but may not be entirely supported that way. However, if your sysprepped image already has MP HAL set, it won't be able to go "backwards" to the UP HAL if you are putting it on UP systems. The standard practice for XP is to create all images on UP HALs and not MP HALs unless you can confirm that particular product will also have at least an HT CPU if not multi-core. A possible fix may be found here: I don't use XP anymore so all I have left is memories.

In the new test, I have set to stop the WinDefend service. There are a lot of different events now (some errors and warnings) that were not in the last test, but likely due to WinDefend being stopped. Fortunately, nothing prompted it to start again by itself. So the new time frame of events (last program to install to MSIEXEC exiting) is: 15:42 - 15:52 FYI these times are just for reference only, the BIOS time is still set to its factory time. Checking through the logs, CBS is still the same, but WindowsUpdate.log is indeed different. There is nothing logged during the time period above, so stopping WinDefend did definately have an impact there. However after checking all the log files and everything else, the total time savings is about 15-20 seconds. So that isn't it. I would settle for cutting this time in half... I'll relook over the ProcMon log and see if I can come up with any other ideas. Well I did find some information regarding Windows Installer and this 10 minute period. Hopefully this will also work when installing Windows Live Essentials... we shall see. Update2 Well I've got this all fixed up now. It would appear that you can't end the msiserver service if it is actively installing something. So I have altered my program to wait 1 minute, then attempt to stop the service. So far this is working out and everything is fine. I did try to research changing the msiserver service's idle timeout but came up empty on that. This will have to do for now. I also gave up trying to figure out how to check for msiserver's mutex it creates while it is installing.

If you have automatic updates on, and have the PC on a network with internet access, I can see how it would go out and grab something from online. Try testing when not hooked up to the internet. Also make sure you aren't sysprepping a PC that is not in Audit Mode.

Not having the time (at the time) I skipped that and decided to look at the regular amount of info. So now, I am thinking that perhaps I should stop Windows Defender during the installation period, which should be fine and Windows Defender would start up automatically following the reboot. Also, I want to point out that this particular deployment does not include Windows Live Essentials. Installing that adds about 8 minutes of additional inactivity/slowness. Any ideas?

I checked their install instructions: http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/installation/windows/ Which doesn't say anything about command line switches, however (without downloading I can't confirm) one of the pictures shows the base installer is Nullsoft Install System v2.46. If you know what changes you made, or had made a backup prior to those changes, you can mount the registry hive using the CMD option in WinRE.
