  1. I'm sure you've read the forum rules, specifically Rules 1 and 4e (to cover the bases).
  2. You only get 1 intro thread.
  3. Moved this and Detox posts into Funny Farm. Not funny, but, posts don't count.
  4. Experienced a power outage last night. The previous system shutdown at 4:23:00 AM on ‎2/‎23/‎2023 was unexpected. Four hours previous, this log was generated: The system uptime is 38087169 seconds. I am really thinking these experiments are going to be over soon, that computer needs to be replaced.
  5. Product keys being put into the BIOS only started with Windows 8. Named OEM Vista install suppresses activation, so it would not ask you for a product key (or you could skip it) when installing with the OEM's recovery media and it will show activated. MS changed named OEM COA with Windows 8 to not have a product key on it, whereas 7, Vista and XP still did even though they were not used. NOTE: Named OEM COA is the type of COA that has the manufacturer/OEM's name printed on it.
  6. This is false. A system with a COA with a product key on it should not have a product key in the BIOS.
  7. There are two main ways to obtain it that I am aware of. If you are talking about "just getting the OS" meaning it is installed onto a PC, then the license cost is less than $200 plus whatever the price of the computer you get it on. You do not get recovery media in this way and you also do not get the product key. The way to get the installation media is a bit different. Microsoft does not sell one-off media + COA for IOT Enterprise SKUs. You have to buy the "kit" from an Embedded Partner. The kit is the DVD9 Master and support documentation and I'm thinking that comes to somewhere in four figure territory. The product keys are a separate cost and come in minimum quantities in the tens of thousands.
  8. My understanding of a typical corporate environment is that their toolset consists of archaic database connected applications and websites. So the days of needing to update your OS to run your fancy enterprise/corporate software is a thing of the past.
  9. I used these terms in google hp ftp netwaiting
  10. Later this year https://www.bsquare.com/windows-iot-licensing/windows-11-iot-enterprise/
  11. It seems their old site is primarily locked behind server-side stuff that wasn't capable to be archived. IGN is the company that ran both sites, so they are the content holder. So if you can't get any help from them at their website, you could try interacting with them on social media like twitter. https://twitter.com/IGNrando
  12. It seems to be SP20495 https://ftp.zx.net.nz/pub/archive/ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp20001-20500/ But it is a waste of space unless you are using a dial-up modem.
  13. No one here can help you defeat the copy protection of a program. Doesn't matter the age. Have you tried contacting the company who made it? I don't know French well enough to navigate their site, but there are some screenshots of the program you are talking about here, so I imagine it is the correct website. https://ignrando.fr/fr/transfert-logiciels Contact link near bottom https://ignrando.fr/fr/espace-pro#service7
  14. Think twice before hitting the Submit Reply button. There is no harm to leave a useless post, maybe it is not useless to someone else.
  15. OK it is a VM. Windows NT is a bit particular concerning CPUs. My guess is that it is seeing more than one CPU and you are using the wrong edition for the amount of CPUs exposed.
  16. You need to post your hardware specs including board, CPU, RAM.
  17. We are experiencing a new wave of spammers that is not unique to MSFN and is happening on other forums as well. These spammers will post about cryptocurrency. However, in addition to new users doing this, some of these spammers have been able to hijack or compromise existing user accounts and make a spam post. When we find an existing user that posts this type of spam, we will apply a 0 point warning on your account so that we can restrict posting. The warning reason will indicate that this has happened. Then you can PM the mod who sent you the warning and they will confirm that it is you and advise that you change your password. After this, the moderator can restore your posting ability.
  18. A lifetime ago I was offered a job in Manila. I often wonder how my life may have been different had I taken that opportunity.
  19. Despite not ever being able to replicate a disk failure by running a program from a disk (UT from Jaz 1 GB) it was always the official stance at Iomega that such things shouldn't be done. It is based on the fact that the disks and the drives fail more often when doing so. I hope you have a large stockpile of disks and drives at hand. PS: also be aware that if such a project were to be attempted, you are likely going to need to make it support all of the Zip drives, including the IDE, USB, Parallel and SCSI models. Or at worst (now) posting about which of these types you are trying to boot with, since you left that out. During my time at Iomega, I do not recall anyone getting an OS to run from a disk, only programs and such programs were extremely slow. The previous example I gave of Unreal Tournament on a 1 GB Jaz disk was run in Windows 2000 and only would run at 10 fps. I do not recall what interface the Jaz drive used. If you do end up running into performance issues, you may want to look into running on a ramdisk.
  20. Split to new topic. Do not ask this type of irrelevant question in development project threads.
  21. We have no use for generic yes/no/maybe answers here. It is not hard to say, the answer to the question was already posted. No further details shall be given on the specifics of it as how Windows Activation specifically works is not a public topic.
  22. All corporate news is propaganda, it doesn't matter what country they come from.
