  1. Shiva says "no picture on the tv"

  2. Two things to note. It appears that chipset will allocate 512MB to the video controller. http://www.backoffice.be/prod_uk/Packard_Bell/pb57c00390_packard_bell_easy_note_sw51-204_turion_64_x2_tl.asp Second, in the 1+2 or 2+1 configuration, you are running in single channel. Using the matched set you are in dual channel. Some benchmark tests will show memory running in dual channel to be "faster" as can be seen here: http://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/1349-ram-how-dual-channel-works-vs-single-channel/Page-3 See the MaxxMem one for example. Can you post screenshots from CPU-Z showing the SPD for each stick? Also post the model numbers physically printed on each piece for comparison.
  3. This doesn't seem to be related to multi-boot. Did you put this in the wrong place? What happens if you use the Windows 8 32bit files?
  4. Yes, if there is an option to download a trial, it will then provide a product key. IIRC, there is no (legitimate) way to get a key if you already have the software. The first link you posted, if you try to get the software it goes to a 404. The other ones may well work, but require registration to continue. OP will have to try those out and see if they still work.
  5. Laptops are fairly heavy and not good for modern gaming: http://www.old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?c=900 Notebooks, on the other hand, have been getting better, but I still wouldn't want one over a desktop when it comes to gaming.
  6. I don't think the average desktop user's needs or wants have anything to do with what hardware becomes available. Desktop hardware seems to solely be made up of things that gamers want or need. It is possible that engineering fields also are a driver, such as any working with CAD software.
  7. Some are forced into Skype... at least those who used MSN/Live messenger are now using Skype accounts. Reverse engineering of any system that still has active copyrights is, in most cases, illegal. That might be why.
  8. Office 2010 Trial editions are no longer offered. You may be able to get a trial version of Office 365, and they then email the installation key if it is needed. http://products.office.com/en-us/try
  9. I am not certain if you can put more than one product key in the pid.txt. Do you still have product.ini in \sources? I would have to wait until Monday to do any testing myself.
  10. I usually put imagex.exe in x:\windows\system32. It really doesn't matter where you put it, as long as you path to it properly. For example, if you are putting a copy of a program into the PE (or any OS really) where a different version exists and you are not replacing it, when you want to run it you need fully qualified paths. This is especially true if the original file is located in any of the PATH variables (ie. System32). Since the imagex.exe that is in your WinPE now is the wrong architecture, you can just safely replace it. However, you latched onto someone else's post. In point 5 he says he put imagex.exe and the .swm files in a specific folder but did not mention it. So there is no way we could know where you put your imagex.exe! Without worrying about hotfixes, it may just be easier to get the new file versions using JFX's tool: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/156869-get-waik-tools-wo-downloading-the-huge-isos/
  11. Regarding HTAs, the relevant language used with them is VBScript. Alternatively, you can look into AutoIT.
  12. Here is where the problem lies. For business customers, there is a path for them if they require the update... they can purchase the extended support package. But for retail customers, there is no alternative. Microsoft does not offer some form of extended support to the regular joe, so the only option is to go buy another OS or just live with it. Then again, this may not even be a big deal either. It is (as some say) a FUD article. The exploit is clearly laid out as being a drive-by attack on IE. This means going to a malicious website using IE. It is entirely possible for an XP system to be unpatched and not have this ever happen... due to either using another browser, or the user having some inkling on how to properly surf the internet.
  13. I've certainly gone beyond the 50 connections on many cables. I definately have had them go bad... but never diagnosed where the fault was. Only that with "this" cable the hdd has problems/isn't detected and "that" one works, was the most testing done. I prefer to use the ones with the clips. The most reliable to me that I use in testing are the red ones with straight connectors with clips. They are more rigid that some other ones I've seen. One I have handy has this written on it: E164571-KS * AWM 2725 60c 30VSerial ATA Cable 26AWG VW-1 BizLink TechnologyE92245-001 BIZLINK 13 08 This example cable is the ones that come with Intel boxed motherboards. I am not certain if they also come with the BLK sku. The * in the quote is a symbol: I will say that the cables themselves is not a big gripe to me. They are plentiful and cheap, so easy to replace. It is the sockets on the drives that tend to be a problem. I have a couple HDDs here where the plastic bit that the clip catches on has broken off, meaning the cable has more of a free-floating connection.
  14. Hotfixes generally are to be used in an as-needed basis and not used just because. You should research each KB and determine if they are needed for your deployment scenarios.
  15. In your posted XML, if using this makes the product key prompt appear, then I suggest you remove the InstallFrom object. In my XMLs, I only specify the install key and not the Index name in the install.wim. If you want it to show you all the indexes in the install.wim, do not specify either an InstallFrom or a ProductKey. Then I believe you use the pid.txt to put the installs keys into so that after you manually choose from the image list, it will not ask for a key. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh824952.aspx
  16. Ok so where does the wireless connection obtain its IP address from? If you have DNS configured, it should be in the DHCP cpl on the server. In Server Options, option 006 configures which DNS servers to send along when a client gets an IP from the server.
  17. Well gee, no I'm (apparently) the one living in the past, as I have no computer with a boot volume larger than 250GB... and that is only because I had to clone a failing drive and it was the smallest size available. My computer at home only has an 80GB drive for the OS.
  18. Well that's some free advertising huh. Why not just say use one of Nuhi's tools to integrate the application? Here is the section for NTLite: http://www.msfn.org/board/forum/177-ntlite/
  19. It is is, as you say, every time you install the software and reboot the software is removed... I would try to find what makes it remove itself. After installation, check in Task Scheduler and also in the registry under RunOnce/Ex to see if there is anything there to trigger the uninstall.
  20. When you are not using the wired connection, what do you do with it? Are the setting still set or have you disabled it?
  21. NoelC, you can boot GPT disk on BIOS using an MSI board and its hack-jobby 2.2TB+ Infinity UEFI emulation gizmo. http://reboot.pro/topic/16315-22tb-infinity-vs-uefi-with-winpe/
  22. SR209 seems to have a lock on the back by the PSU, SR105 does not. Do you know a way to tell other than measuring the dimensions?
  23. I guess it depends. The only one I have experience with is the Intel NUC... but then it only has an HDMI port and nothing else. :\
  24. I finally finished moving Shiva to a new chassis. The original was one I bought in the 20th century that had the over-the-top slip on "side panel" which I very much did not like. I had acquired a user server chassis (trash rescue) and decided to port everything over. My wire management may not be that great, but again I have made sure not to put wires in the fans. This is the Chenbro SR105. I had some time wasting trying to get the correct screws for the hard drive bay. Some perks to this over the old, now have a fan in the hard drive bay. Also I will have front panel USB! I do not have the correct sized fan for the rear exhaust, but it has enough screw hole to put in a smaller one. You can see dust on both the video and sound card, however it does not come off with the canned air. PSU fit nice without needing for an adapter plate. Need one more side panel thumb screw. The side panel is not in perfect shape, but it stays on. Also need to put in a black floppy drive. I have them but not handy. I have not turned it on yet! I hope it works! Will get the rest together on the upcoming weekend.
  25. Try logging in with another user account, preferrably one in the Administrators group, and see if they are still like that.
