  1. true, bumping is not really needed. Plenty of people have seen this thread, and if they had noted something bad there, they'd have given their comments. So there you have it - its probably good which is why you see no negative comments!
  2. Thanks for the info. This sure is good news for Creative card owners.
  3. And also, direct folders (instead of sorted) help if you have too many drivers (beyond 4096 characters). Instead of: D |-gfx |--intel |--nVidia |--ATi You can have: D |-intel |-nVidia |-ATi But don't worry, it will take a lot of time before you fill up the 4096 chars space, and need to look for ways to accommodate more drivers. Unless you use this method for VERY big commercial establishments, (or if you use Bashrat's driverpacks, LOL ). If you are using driver-packs from anywhere, prune the list to only have what you need to support - hardware which you know your users will never use, don't need to be supported.

    What is WIHU?

A good FAQ, for newcomers. Nice of you to take the time to do this. Pinned. Let's only have additional contributions to the FAQ in this thread, please post any questions you have as a new thread in the forum, or as posts in the appropriate thread (if a similar subject already exists).
  5. Have you tested for the integrity of your HDD? Moreover, Longhorn is pretty unstable now and leaks a lot of memory - maybe that caused your problem.
  6. Screenshots can be seen on wraith's homepage of XPlode (here). Or, you can download the latest XPlode from the home-page of the XPlode project (above) and open the help file (with a .chm extension) - that has a lot of screenshots too! As for a sample script, see the one already included in the download - best one, and well-commented too! @wraith- Just saw your page now. You used to have screenies of XPlode running in its 2 modes (GUIinstall, normal) there, isn't it there anymore? If you want fresh screenies taken and posted, I'll send them to you.
  7. Maybe CDshell doesn't support input from USB devices, or you need to enable support in your BIOS for legacy USB devices, and DOS-support in BIOS for USB-keyboard (bcos on some bioses, keyboard becomes usable only after windows loads). I've found that the nature of CDshell being scripted had benefits as well as negatives. I began out with CDshell, but ever since I saw EasyBoot, and its ease-of-use, I've been recommending that to all who want to use Multi-Boot CDs. EasyBoot suports USB mouse/keyboard, and boot-sectors of any size. It has a WYSIWYG editor, and the GUI doesn't has the advantage that you can't possibly make mistakes with it. The preview its able to show, and the resulting graphical boot-screens and multi-level menus it can provide make it well worth the time spent in getting used to it. It is a paid-for tool, though. So you might want to stay with CDshell/bootScriptor.
  8. It's a truly divine tool. Well, I've found it useful for these reasons: - testing out unattended installs - virtually using OSes that don't support my newer "real" hardware - It runs on windows and linux, so no matter which OS I am working on atm, I simply start my virtual machine from its defined partition - installing my real usable OS within VMware (on a different partition) and all apps installed and configured (that way, if my host OS goes down I can simply format/re-install host OS and install VMware and open my virtual machine to boot-up into a perfect environment) - setting up a virtual network (run 5 VMs simultaneously, and network them to see what I mean - low cost, and easily test your networking changes as a proto-type before actually carrying it out)
  9. ROFL, unbelievable
  10. MFD= Multi-Functional Devices (have all the functionalities of printer, scanner and fax). Does look like there's no way (until now) radimus.
  11. The posts about cd-ident files here in the nLite forum, might be a good option to read - to solve that error message. FAQs
  12. That's really weird - with a factor of loss of time thrown in. (NT was good - simply refuse to install on hardware it doesn't know about). Nowadays, its custom-built PCs giving way better performance, and value for money - and OEMs provide good PCs as well, so may not really matter much.
  13. Looks that way.... 'Tis become an infinite loop, just like my previous post above.
  14. Hi to you! Welcome to MSFN. @The_ZoRo You're taken.
  15. Happy independence day.... (I hope that greet came in before the day changed to the next for you - see the "Posted On" info for this post). sorry about your brother.... We in India keep hearing daily about all the violence and hellish things happening in Pakistan. One can only hope things will get better....... BTW, its now National (independence) day for me now. Wishes from y'all are welcome. :hint: :hint: For those who don't know what is being talked about, here's some info: Pakistan gained independence from British imperial rule in the year 1947, August 14. India got the same a day later, on August 15th 1947. That's the reason we seem to be wishing each other on this special day. It is, you know, somewhat like the significance of July the 4th, in the US. This is what I'd suggest: Why not say hi to her, ask her if you can be friends - then propose to go with her for lunch to a hotel or a movie (with friends, in both cases). That way, you aren't vulnerable and alone. If she instantly accepts it, either she REALLY likes you for some reason, or is a trap as you said. If she hesitates to come with you, you can conclude that she is a normal girl (no girl will rightaway start dating a person she hardly knows). If she is a normal one, then leave all your fears aside, and live life happily (secretly?) trying to woo her. Thats called sweet opportunity, and I wish you good luck. Hoping it all goes well.......
  16. Yes, that one above is what you need to modify to your needs. Maybe you got a pre-made regtweaks file from somewhere, and simply used it directly without seeing what is useful and not, to you.... Anyway, got this to add: Apply that coolswitch tweak from cmdlines entry point, if you want to have it applied to all users. If you want to return to default settings, just delete the tweak related to it from your registry tweaks file.
  17. That's a really down in the dumps feeling, best avoided by not taking rash steps. Well, so I'm guessing your svcpack problem got sorted out now?
  18. Install it on your D: And set the pagefile to C:, with a constant value of 1.5xRAM (i.e., 1536 MB in your case). These things start to matter when you feel your system is slowing down.
  19. Good to know, after all those years of the girls telling me otherwise! Ouch Green, that hurts. LOL
  20. That's ok, leave those lines. no harm. Those lines are for XP Media Center Edition, and Tablet PC. So, those lines are not something to be bothered about, on XP home/pro.
  21. That's a known setting in winnt.sif You could try using that, but didn't help in my case - when a signed driver is present, windows WILL install that instead of an unsigned one. BTW, those warnings about DriverSigningPolicy aren't something to be bothered about, *IF* you happen to know that your drivers are fine, and were tested by the manufacturer before being released.
  22. There's this site, with exactly the info you need, I think. Get to it from below link (15 pages of 200 ways to revive a hard drive): tech-republic Search on google with this link for many more solutions : recovery search. Hoping this helps..... If so, please post back on what worked for you, and how you did it. It will help others with similar needs, and when all do that, it will help you find the solution to your next problem (there's never an end to those) quicker, by searching in the knowledge base available here.
  23. Does help a lot, thank you. Now, is there a way to integrate/slip-stream it into the SAV setup like the other updates above?
  24. Yay! the screen-shot from that mod looks good.
  25. I'm sure that driver-pack supports lots more NICs. Nice release BtS!
