I just saw your message: "ps. i installed fresh EN vista in to the Machine and used windows update to install Arabic pack and it did not work!!!!" Then it's not related to vLite. Here is some help: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942903 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947506 Let me know if they help, follow the instructions on those pages, and then we can try integrating them and see if it helps for that as well.

I still don't agree that Game Explorer removal ever caused games not to run. I always removed it and also other users who replied in that thread saying that it's not related to game explorer. If anything it could be SP1, also don't disable services by hand after the install or any tweaking outside vLite until resolved. You removed Component Cache (winsxs)...nasty, keep that as well for now. Try to enable Defender, maybe even if it's disabled it's blocking until allowed or something like that, experiment. Try to make 2 identical installs, one with Game Explorer and one without. Freshly install, don't do anything else, and test your game.

redxii, ok gonna try it from the nLited XP. Mech0z, vlite.net, top news post. re*s.t.a.r.s.*2, read the note in the first post: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&...st&p=731085

Select Recommended Compatibility option, maybe keep Game Explorer if you want to be sure that the game shortcuts will all be there, and you can remove everything else. Secondary Logon service was needed for Halo 2 install but that also you can easily do that in the Compatibility - Applications and check Halo 2 if you plan on playing it. Btw I recommend keeping Superfetch if you have 2 or more GB of RAM. It does make Vista go smoother.

GoneMental, ok good. coho, kb888111_srv03.exe is for Windows Server 2003, that's why you got that message. About the kb888111xpsp2.exe, here it did not cause missing files. Can you tell me which file, at least 2 of them and attach your preset please. Also if you haven't do it all at once, meaning try not to rerun nlite multiple times so that I can see the exact work done in one preset. (it creates new preset on each modification with just the latest stuff) And of course always start from the clean installation files, only service pack can be slipstreamed, at least while debugging. It would also be good to integrate soundcard driver, if you didn't already, among other things you normally do. midi2k6, currently his problem is the file copy error which shouldn't be there. Then later if the soundcard isn't installed we'll see about this.

Have you tried Imagex on it? research on "Imagex /mount" If that fails as well then it's a bad image. Try recopying it from the DVD or extract the ISO, if they are proven to work otherwise.
-
GoneMental, that's not the SP2 XP you're using, version number should be 5.1.2600.2180.
-
I tried it on XP SP2 and it's fine. Downloaded the appropriate hotfix version from here: http://www.driveragent.com/files/kb888111xpsp2.exe
-
Do you have an exact info on the Windows version used (you can read build and SP number below Browse on the first page) and a link to download that exact hotfix would be great (or at least an original filename of the hotfix, if it has the x86/x64 and other stuff on it unedited).

Be sure that the pop3 settings are filled correctly, read the step by step guide on the help page of your mail provider. There is no component for pop3, did you searched about your issue before thinking that it's nlite? (no offense intended, reasonable question so that I don't annoy you with the basics)
-
huh, output folder? You mean where nLite copied the files when browsing to the XP CD? Try copying the CD files manually to any new folder on the HDD then browse with nLite to it.
-
Well internet games might be easier to return since they are usually in the Cpanel - Components. It would require just extracting one dll, inf and adding a line to Sysoc. Anyway lets first see if you removed it.
-
Lets not blow it out of proportion. They just said that you might need some removed component and that service pack fails. If they were not against component removal there would be custom install in Windows, it's not really a revelation but news does need to be hyped for us to be entertained.

Enabled DEP protection to the fullest? Removed Application Experience service? Anyway attach your preset, thx.
-
That is during the boot.wim cleanup, it must have been changed somehow. Gonna check it when possible, thank you.

Seems like one of the Checkboxes didn't get all the data and left unfilled or selected to nothing. Can you please check the GUI for any checkboxes set to nothing, just gray? Also if you have the vlite.ini and last session.ini when it fails please attach, thx.

First report of this kind. That temporary numbered folder for extraction is normal. Make sure to use a clean, original XP, meaning not previously tampered in any way. It can contain SP1 if that was the only thing added to it (or preintegrated). Does nLite ask you to clean the previously integrated hotfixes? This can happen with some OEM CDs. Do you have some process protection programs which may have blocked it? (usually part of newer Firewalls) Also try to disable resident antivirus protection if present. And compare copied folder on the hdd with the CD to see if they are really identical, maybe even try copying the CD to some new folder on HDD by hand then just browse with nLite to that new folder. Be sure not to use networked paths, keep all files on current machine for now at least. Let me know how it goes.

Winsxs is extreme and hidden component, also it says in the description clearly that it breaks cpanel - features and hotfix installs, it's not worth mentioning because then some might think that is what vLite does by default. So to make it clear for some trigger happy reporters: you can remove all components and the hotfixes for the kept components will work. There is one hidden extreme component which can only be enabled with a special switch and it disables any windows updating, should only be used if you integrate your hotfixes before install and reinstall often. You gotta admit that only experienced users will know about it and enable it, but if some newbie does enable it and manages to ignore the warning well more power to him, he might also delete some crucial dll file by hand and blame me.
-
hervell, also please check for a very long files, or maybe your path is already too long. For example put your files into the: d:\XPCD or something like that. Then check if your added folders and files have any very long filenames.
-
ZeDMaN, yeah good idea. I did already put the SP info, gonna add that one as well.
-
Cool. I see some people think that MS warning people against vLite when it comes to Service Pack is a bad thing. It's not, I wrote the same at vlite.net. If you plan on installing SP on it then don't remove anything. Only preintegrated SP can be trimmed. What I don't like is them thinking that Hotfixes might fail while they never did, or if it was it was during beta testing and quickly fixed.
-
Why then on this screenshot http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?act=at...st&id=20881 It has (vLite) in it's name as it was already edited by vLite before?
-
Is there any reason why WPI isn't a good solution? Or you just want to have all in one?
-
Am I correct in assuming that your Vista wasn't full and untampered before trying to integrate language pack on it? Meaning you have to integrate language pack in the first session with vLite if you are removing some components. All in one go, no need to integrate then restart vLite to remove, all in one but one, not remove them integrate. k?

Interesting, that capture thing is a great idea, thx. Lets dwell on it.
