  1. i managed to get it working...or rather...have identified the problem as actually being something else that i'm asking about in a new post.. thanks for the suggestion and attention...
  2. yup, i was integrating the win2000 folder as a single driver i've since solved the problem, or rather...found out the problem lies elsewhere... thanks for the tip
  3. one other thing i was wondering about.... would the order in which i integrate the hotfixes and/or drivers have any bearing? i can't see what else would have impact... just wondering because i just realized that there is a newer driver than one of the ones i was using so i figured i'd ask before i make t his new disc.... "BTW, why do you need to integrate this hotfix when you don't use it on PC doesn't have SoundMAX?" -midik26....sorry for any confusion...the machine that i wish to make this automated install disc DOES have the ADI AD1988B Soundmax soundcard in it....and yes i need to install the kb888111 hotfix in order for the card/drivers to function properly this is the 3rd machine i'm making an automated install disc for and the other 2 worked fine without a hitch...and the nlite settings i've used have been virtually identical, the only thing that has been different is the drivers. "then install soundMAX driver silent /s this hotfix will also install with soundMAX HD Audio driver." -i've never heard about a silent install before...what is it? how does one do it? when would someone want to do it?

  5. well....i don't believe it...but i managed to get it to work....the completed windows disc processed by nlite installed without any errors this time?? i don't understand because i didn't do anything different? The only possible thing i can think of was that with one of the intermediate discs that i made without the kb888111 hotfix, i thought that maybe the kb888111 hotfix required me NOT to remove the oem windows sound device drivers, so i left them in, and removed the other oem drivers corresponding to all of the hardware i was installing my own drivers for (graphics, scsi/raid, lan, wireless lan). This most recent disc that i made since knowing that i had to integrate the kb888111 hotfix, I removed the oem sound drivers this time, along with all of the others....that's the only thing i did different. Perhaps with the earlier attempts I missed removing the drivers for one of the devices??? Would doing something like that even cause a problem like this? Because if not.... i'm still confused....and not too confident in the whole ordeal, despite making 2 automated discs for 2 other machines without a hitch....
  6. "coho, kb888111_srv03.exe is for Windows Server 2003, that's why you got that message." -yup....i figured as much both by the file name and the resulting error message "It would also be good to integrate soundcard driver, if you didn't already, among other things you normally do." -yup, i'm integrating ALL of the drivers for the motherboard & video card "About the kb888111xpsp2.exe, here it did not cause missing files. Can you tell me which file, at least 2 of them and attach your preset please." -it's not specifically two files, i've burned 4 or 5 cds with xp sp2 plus all updates and integrated drivers, and i've received different problems each time....this is what made me wonder whether my problem was an nlite compilation/integration problem, or a cd media or burning problem, and why i simply burned another disc each time. In EACH of the following cases when i encountered the error, I would integrate the hotfixes & drivers into a fresh/virgin xp sp2 file folder, perform the nlite integration and then burn a new cd. Thus having repeated this process so much...it's consumed a lot of time and i'm getting frustrated. The first time, the install process hung during the first file copy process(with the yellow progress bar)...it hung at ~98% at an "nv*" file (I don't remember the exact file name). Seeing as nvidia driver files usually start with "nv" and the only piece of nvidia hardware in the machine is the video card (8800 gts 512), i'd imagine it was something to do with that. Another time (remember this is a different burned cd altogether) it made it through the first file copy process, and after the first restart, the install process hung at the "installing devices" progress bar. Another time (and a separate disc), it hung at some other file during the first file copy process...i don't remember the name of the file. Another time (and again a different disc) it made past the "installing devices" and "installing network" portions....and then hung at the 2nd "copying files" progress bar. I'm skeptical as to it being a media problem because i've never had problems with media before....of any sort...ever. Same goes for burning speed/buffer underrun issues. The dvd/cd drives involved aren't random el cheapos...the recorder doing the burning is a benq 1625 that has served faithfully, and the reader in the machine i want to do an install on is a brand new, well reputed samsung sh-s203b. "Also if you haven't do it all at once, meaning try not to rerun nlite multiple times so that I can see the exact work done in one preset. (it creates new preset on each modification with just the latest stuff) And of course always start from the clean installation files, only service pack can be slipstreamed, at least while debugging." -yup, i NEVER rerun nlite on an xp file folder that has been processed by nlite before. I ALWAYS integrate/process the hotfixes and drivers into a fresh xp file folder that i simply copy each time from an original folder that i keep in a separate folder on my hard drive until i'm finished making the install cd. I will mention that i'm starting with xp sp2 5.1.2600.2180, and then integrating ie7, wmp11, all of the pertinent hotfixes, and the necessary drivers....i'm not integrating any service packs.
  7. -the windows version i'm using is: 5.1.2600.2180 -a download link for the exact hotfix is here: http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/audi..._32bit_2kxp.zip (ADI SoundMAX Audio Driver v5.10.01.6310 for Windows 2000/XP(WHQL)) -upon extracting the driver files you'll notice that there's 2 files: "kb888111.exe" and "kb888111_srv03.exe"...i've been using the former as the latter gives me an error message that xp sp2 is the wrong version of windows... -Nuhi, i tried using the kb888111xpsp2.exe link you gave me....the file integrates fine but afterwards i receive file copy errors and/or hangups during the windows install process. I figured it might be bad integration/compile process by nlite (because i was multitasking during the process), or maybe bad media, or bad cd write.... i've tried repeating the integration/compilation, i've tried writing at only 8x, and i've tried writing on different media...all give the same result. In addition, i've never had any similar problems with any of the other automated discs i made using the same drives, computer and media ....
  8. perhaps there's more than one version of hotfix? i know the one that came inside my soundcard drivers didn't have the "sp2" suffix like the file in the link you sent me... i'll give it a shot...
  9. no...strangely enough i'm using xp pro sp2???!!! it seems that just nlite won't integrate it....as i can install the hotfix manually after installing windows....
  10. KB888111 & Nlite 1.4.1= "This hotfix isn't made for this windows version!....skipping KB888111" followed by the path to the hotfix -that's the error message i receive during integration....meanwhile all of the other pertinent hotfixes integrate wonderfully.... wtf???? that's weird considering if i install the exact same windows content without the hotfix and then run the same hotfix file after i'm finished installing windows....voila...no problem.. what might be the problem and/or the solution? aiyeeeeeeeee
  11. I recently managed to make a fully automated xp pro install with all of the updates until now including ie7, wmp 11, and the corresponding drivers for my computer and my brother's using nlite....things worked beautifully. I'm looking to do the same with another machine and everything works fine with the exception of one driver that is being a pain in the a** and I was wondering if there was some way of integrating it? I'm not too well versed in what is possible and what isn't so any feedback would be appreciated. I'll give you a little insight... for those of you who have purchased an asus motherboard in the past few years, you may or may not have noticed that some of them have built in dynamic overclocking abilities touted as Asus' "A.I. Booster". This feature works on receiving feedback from a sensor called "ATK 0110 ACPI" which is built into the motherboard. This sensor requires a driver to be installed in order for it to work properly. The driver is an .inf and seems typical enough in nature, i figured it'd be a simple nlite addin. However, in practice, despite the fact that I point nlite to the driver files and it incorporates them into the windows disc without a hitch, the driver doesn't seem to be detected or loaded upon installing windows. At this point i'm at a loss as to what the problem is. The only current possible source of error that i can see is that upon extracting the driver one has to be sure to point nlight to the 32 bit drivers rather than the 64 bit, and well...i do that newwink.gif If it'd help at all to see the driver structure, one can see/download it here; it's quite small and a quick download: http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/utils/ACPI_1043400.rar Any thoughts, or advice would be appreciated. Cheers, Coho p.s. mods, this is a duplicate post as seen here: http://www.msfn.org/board/Asus-ATK-0110-AC...te-t111827.html ...i figure the topic applies to both threads and if one were to choose one only, it'd be a tossup, especially as i don't know whether the problem lies with windows, the driver, or nlite...may as well cover thy a** and get thy exposure...if you have an issue with it, do with it as you wish...
