I tried it now on full Vista first and got this error: Setup Cannot update mapisvc.inf Dj_KrupA_, what do you get when you remove Speech Support? Also did you search online how many people have issues with Vista and older Office versions?
-
Then only obvious answer is that there is no secpol in Vista Home editions. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qi...22074437AAFnAq0

Can you please wait for me to try it. During current tests I have seen some connections with the Help / Tablet PC, so maybe Tablet PC is in your case as well, anyway SP1 added the extra layer to take care of regarding that cpanel feature. LegoLiam™, yeah that was my mistake few times as well, when all is removed it is greater chance that it will work than when you keep some component which needs parts of the other and so on. Not to mention that integrating hotfixes brings this to a whole new level of complexity. Btw SP1 is like a big hotfix.
-
Oh so fast, thank you very much. I will look at it if maybe some tiny part can be saved or compatibility added for the next version.
-
Dj_KrupA_, make sure to keep Application Compatibility and Windows Mail. Also MDAC and Jet databases could come in handy but probably just for Access. Please let me know if you find which exactly so I can create new compatibility option. Also make sure that it works fine on the full Vista as well if you have not already. I remember someone mentioning some issues without vLite as well, not sure about that though.
-
As far as I know no component in vLite removes secpol.msc. I ran it now on my heavily trimmed install and it works. We are talking about the Local Security Policy? Try locating it in the Administrative Tools.
-
Thx for the info. Where is the 'removes components'!? It pains me to see when people use it only to integrate SATA drivers.
-
Thank you, if I get the error with your preset it will definitely be fixed.
-
Please report it to the Kaspersky for the fix.
-
No never saw it. There must have been some change, try to remember. Disabled some service, changed some drivers? edit: He just told me that this happened to other people at the same time, so I am thinking it could be some antivirus or other updateatable program that issues a bad update which they all use.
-
Yes you can select it in the Components - Compatibility list. vLite will warn you if you select for removal something needed, don't worry about it. And above all if something does go wrong no one will die, just reinstall it with that component kept. Be sure to post here if you encounter some issue.
-
I would select Recommended compatibility and left the Media Center unchecked for the removal, select all others. Then when moving forward it will warn you what else you need to keep, like WMP, Remote Desktop... Answer Yes for those. It should work fine. Also browse through the components and see what else would you like to keep. When you install it do not activate it until you are sure that it is a keeper.
-
It will not be supported because it is a total mix of technologies. Has parts of Vista setup and XP files, I would need to make a third tool, not worth it since nLited XP is even smaller.
-
All can be separated, only issue is that it is tedious work which is useful for only a handful of people in the special situations. I will save in todo to separate modems but it depends on the mood.

-.-PhanTom-.- and daroga, eventually all the useful options will be there once more is removed, I am still not satisfied with the Vista slimness. kdo2milger, sp1 no, there is that capture method and it works fine. All can be done in virtual machine so you don't really need to mess with your real partitions. vLite tag, it is quite helpful once in the Setup to see which one was vLited. As optional...gonna see about it.

If your original problem was not solved by that then this Routing thing is completely normal and not a problem at all, you simply found that Collaboration can make Routing active. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate the help, this information will come in handy in the future.
-
No, those are the compatibility options so if you select KMPlayer you can remove all components and it still should work.
-
Yes I am aware of the Comodo's Defense+ issue, that is why I usually say "or firewalls with process protection". Funny thing is I always used Comodo and never had that issue but it was because I would choose Basic Firewall on install, then Defense+ is disabled. However I enabled it and it works fine on Vista SP1 so maybe they fixed it or there is more to it, maybe order of install, WIM/Comodo or vice versa.

Volume shadow. Seems like recent changes to keep Logitech Setpoint happy gave birth to this issue. It will be fixed.
-
Make sure to set your port forwarding correctly. There is nothing you could have removed to break Emule, except maybe UPNP service if it sets your router automatically. *I am not actually sure if Emule can use UPNP so that leaves you to debug Emule as it was on full Windows

I would say that any third party Windows ISO download is illegal. To be on the safe side simply make your own SP1 ISO, it is completely functional as the real thing. Guide here: http://www.winbeta.org/comments.php?catid=1&id=9536

areanos, is that Vista version modified in any way, did you tamper around the boot.wim?
-
shaitan607, your title says that the question is about Vista. Why do you even post here if you ignore our replies. Only OEM distributors have the right to modify the OS which they distribute and even then there must be some boundaries, you will not see Dell removing some component.
-
shaitan607, you can not distribute modified vLite installer, asking for the Vista itself is not even funny. MS can not allow distribution of Vista with their support or trademark which is not what they made after you customize it. Strictly for your personal usage only.
