  1. Didn't know anyone read changelogs I just found this project, and what can i say. I never imagined that anyone would even consider trying something like that, let alone trying and succeeding. Since I'm working on multiboot project called MetaMorphASys, which is multiboot-soft-unattended-benchmark-testing project, when I read on msn unattended that there was a driver pack that can solve obsoleteness of integrated Xp drivers, I was like wooooww this guy must be a computer guru or something. Well done Bâshrat the Sneaky B) I finished allmost all, but this, and unatteded setup of apps using Windows post installer. Since I plan to integrate all of the drivers into XP itself, I take it there are no problems using integration method so far? Once again thank you for making this possible , and if I can help the project in any way, please don't hesitate to contact me (i will be available after June midterms), also if you need help wiyh latin, i can help put there too.. Cheers!!
  2. Ok first disabling services, u get a litlle more spped, but after disabling some network related services, you get hog ups, and freezes, like windows is waiting for those servieces to come online... I too noticed hibernation is better, much much better, so how can make a tweak to hibernate everytime instead of shutdown?
  3. don't think that's possible, but i do agree that its unneeded Sif files are like women - enigma wrapped in a riddle under a veil of mistery
  4. This is acctualy not true, I have mine placed in boot folder only (in my case PRO1) Also I went to crack my setupldr.bin, and found no reference as to hex code suggested here, I just renamed i386 to PRO1 or PRO[any numer or letter] and it works, could it be possible that we dont have same setupldr.bin, i use WinXP pro SP2 corp edition. So how can i remove thoose files from the root, i try the suggestion of one user here to edit txtsetup.sif, nad change path, but it gives me the same error just like when they are not placed in the root..?
  5. Maybe by resseting the SID and defaulting the system hive? Anyway great idea, I'm at your dissposal for beta testing and stuff.
  6. Yes that was my problem too, the manul of modifying the txtsetup.sif and thus removing this files from the root was not successfull
  7. EazyBoot new version suports booting .iso files. So all you have to do is to make iso of Vista DVD, and then put it to your DVD and boot. Well at least in therory, I haven't tried it yet, acctualy
  8. I doesn't have to be perfect... at least not right away
  9. I'm sure there is.. Since i have not time due to june exams, I'm looking foward to first stable public release
  10. It's at the five year stage where support for it(should) starts to drop off. You don't see the latest hardware and software being supported on NT4. o_O That's how Microsoft makes their money. You buy an operating system for one period of time...It expires after 10 years...You buy a new one with new licenses and features. VMware! Ok, downladed both Workstation and Server.. let the testing commence!
  11. To whom it may concern, I'm downloadin latest Vista x32 built for manual testing.. Any good testing programs out there ?
  12. I get blured letters. I know it's not intended for it, but this is a great prank material
  13. Well, look how much time it took to start project such as MiroWinX, Windows GE, Slimming down WindowsXP,.. Someone will do the same for Vista, when we learn enough about her yeah 128 GB is peanuts,... But if you comapre x32 Vista and x32 WindowsXP, which is better, from point of : 1.Usability 2.Performace (file, games, audio-video editing,..) 3.Funcionality (what can u do what u couldn't in XP, and what can u do better) 4.Inovation (what's new alltogether) 5.Enterprise (improvment regarding buisness applicability)
  14. Aha tanx, I've just been to ATI homepage, and there's an urtical about ATI working closely with MS, on improving and developing certain parts of Vista..
  15. As I said, configuration is 9/10 of program usability... NOD32 can be set to deep scan- advanced heuristic... By setting this, I cought a number of trojans, which were reported as unknown version of known viruses... so I uploaded them to Eset lab for further analisys... ...yes, Don't expect perfection and 100% efficiency of any program... cause it will never happen, instead try to find advantages and disadvantages in a program and make the best of it.
  16. Let's bet someone will build a driver emulator for x64 systems to work on x86...
  17. In the long run - IE(x) will win... S&M make for 90% of product. (S&M - Sales and Marketing, some say even Sales and Managment - since marketing economicly goes under sales.... not in any relationship with Sado-Mazo , allthougt some people make no difference )
  18. x64 WindowsXP OR x64 Windows Vista ??? (*colour coded by SOD -Screen of death ) A friend of mine installed x32 Vista on his computer, along with x64 XP. He claims that it works times better than x64 XP, usability, funcionality, games color/sound... So he says : "Gosh, if x32 Vista works this great, x64 must be a mind blower!!!" Well I must admit it looks esteticly more beautiful, I'm steptical... What do you think - Is x64 Vista that good?! How anyone tried it out?
  19. Heres what i think(sitting back watching quietly), this goes against all i believe in but, if MS design a A/V then there will be no-one else to blame if it doesn't work. For a A/V to work with and in an OS, it must incorporate some of the OS architecture, so as to be compatable, and consume less physical mem and less kernal mem, it must also contain a firewall that is intelligent, and adjusts to surfing habits, ie trusted sites etc. If MS want to regain trust and confidence of its customers, it must offer this free, and updates should be free as well. MS have made alot of $ from there customers over the years, example, you buy OS, but you need word processor, so you have to buy MSoffice, this should be apart of the package, which is what ppl have been saying for sometime now, monopoly yes, greedy yes, smart no. Linux is looking better all the time. If they do that they will be trialed again for breach of antitrust directives and legislation. I know that's stupid, when in some other buisness, someone makes the hole package- e.g. holiday agencies, its not breach, but when microsoft whats to make a complete software package, its hell breaking lose . Don't misunderstand me, I'm not pro Microsoft, acctually I think, they are one of the worse software making companies in history - but in buisness, product doesn't count for success, marketing and sales do. So if anyone wants to use Windows(WMplayer,IE, OE,notepad, paint, image viewer, scan wizard,...)+Office+Antispyware(Defender)+Firewall+Antivirus+..... --- that's the choice they took, nobody forced it on them... so I say MS go foward!!! Yes... NOD32 is good if you config it properly... but to be fair, I downloaded Avast and AVG, and will test them out extensively on my comp and my freinds (always full of viruses )
  20. Is it Windows 3.11 pro or 3.11 for workgroups? can u load NTFS from it?
  21. Thank you, still having same problem, does both txtsetup.sif files in boot section and i386 have to be the same or do I just modify first, and leave the original in i386 folder (that's what I did) If i knew this was so tricky i would have gone on a aligator hunting trip
  22. 1. U have to have fat32 partition that is always visible to install bootmagic (I usually have logical extended of 50 MB at the end of the HD 2.Install one OS 3.Install Bootmagic (and turn on advanced partition hiding) 4.Make bootmagic rescue disc 5.Make a second partiotion primary, but do not install yet, just format 5.Disable bootmagic 6.Boot from rescue disc and put second partition active (first will be automaticlly hidden) 7. Install second OS 8. Boot from rescue disc and put first partition active (second will be automaticlly hidden) *. Install other OSs using same procedure (allways activating partiotion on which you install OS) 9. When finifshed Enable bootmagic, (assign names, passwords, give visibility of other partition or not) And don't foreget to enable advanced partition hiding!! Hope it helps you, if you have furter questions contact me via PM or email
  23. That is absolutely correct, or if you want you can use bootlader like Symantec's Boot Magic, or Vcom's System Commander They can hide your primary partition so when u install/use one windows, the other is invisible
