  2. That's still far below the upper temperature limit, which is supposed to be 70°C for most Intel CPUs. You can go higher by adjusting your memory frequency down closer to stock. In the frequency control options there should be an FSB frequency setting followed by memory frequency setting. Reduce the memory frequency.
  3. I personally prefer Samsungs. I have a pair of 173Ts that have been working well for over 2 years. The refresh rate of an LCD doesn't really matter, since they don't flicker at lower refresh rates. There is no difference in display between 60Hz and 75Hz (most LCD monitors don't have a very high maximum refresh rate, as there is no need to design the circuitry to handle the higher frequencies). I'm not sure about response time, but any modern LCD should have no ghosting issues. Lower is better. A higher contrast ratio just means you can set the contrast and brightness controls lower for the same brightness. (I have both my monitors set at minimum brightness and contrast, it causes less strain on the eyes.) Pixel pitch is the spacing of the individual pixels. All LCDs of the same size and resolution will have the same pitch, so it is rarely a factor of comparison. As for brightness, I prefer a darker monitor, it's better for the eyes than looking into a bright light.
  4. Yes, and in addition, you get to choose the brand and capacity you want. All hard drives should not be subject to excessive vibration, although they have gotten more sturdier over the years with technology such as analog actuators and embedded servo etc. An external drive is just a normal internal drive placed in a case, there is really no difference. I certainly would not want my hard drives thrown around like you have described.

I had to change my user-agent back to IE's default to see it... Tried with any other user-agent and it doesn't do that. Apple definitely doesn't like M$
  7. Just keep the post counts, I don't really care about anything else. (I do not remember seeing any forums where the postcount is not shown.)
  8. That would be the "Don't Install It" or "Remove It" option.
  9. Maybe we should keep the WGA-related discussion in the PMs, or in this thread: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=75649
  10. Wow. I never knew that. Have you tried http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/...793857+28353475 ? Apparently there is a second battery inside... you'll need to find the service manual (easy - just Google) for the exact disassembly instructions. If that doesn't work, there is a very rare HP utility to reset the password, try searching P2P for that.
  11. BitComet allows to rename files in multi-file torrents before they are downloaded. "Why not just rename them afterwards?" Because I've encountered a few torrents created with foreign characters in the filename, and the OS doesn't like that very much. For example, on UNIX filesystems every single character that is not a null byte nor a forward slash is allowed in a filename! Even backslashes can be present in their filenames, but must be "escaped" before use.
  12. "1.73MHz Pentium M"?? Didn't you mean GHz ?
  13. Foxit's text renderer doesn't do a very good job at rendering documents of mainly text... By older version, I meant 5.x or 4.01, stripped of plugins and unnecessary files. Acrobat 7 and 6 are very similar.
  14. HP is not Compaq Maybe refine your search queries a bit more
  15. If nobody is downloading your torrent you're not going to be uploading anything Remember, it's P2P so others are going to be downloading from your machine.
  16. What version of Acrobat are you using? Maybe try an older version. They're much easier to work with as standalone.
  17. Boot to a command prompt and delete from there. You might also want to CHKDSK the drive, filesystem might've been corrupted.
  18. Take a look at the XCOPY command that comes with Windows...
  19. Did you partition and format the HDD first? I think your BIOS does not have 48-bit LBA support.
  20. Alt+Enter is normally the fullscreen/window key.
  21. Do you have a malware infection? Do scan with Adaware/spybot and an AV of your choice.
  22. Clear your cache and temporary internet files. This happens to IE once in a while if you just let the cache accumulate. I think Firefox is prone to the same problem.
  23. They're just selling the equivalent functionality in another freeware program, MHDD.
  24. If you can copy+paste the text when it has been printed to a PDF, then you can just use one of the many pdf->txt programs available to get your desired output.
