According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QNX it's just another *nix variant. It is a realtime OS, which means it does have a fast response time. I'd guess it to be as stable as any other *nix, but I don't think there is much software available. I think I have a QNX floppy somewhere... probably tried it a few times and forgot about it.

Then why is the device ID for the 915GM in the INF file of the universal driver? From what I've seen so far, there should be no difference in the actual driver file itself no matter what model you choose to generate drivers for, as otherwise why would the INF file contain the other device IDs? I'm starting to think that it does *not* generate custom drivers as it claims to, but just gives a single universal driver for each OS choice. I haven't had any good experiences with AsRock mobos... thanks, but I think I'll stick with Asus.

I think you can fix the drive letter by going to the device manager and setting the properties for the USB drive, while it is plugged in.

[Question] Can I transfer "knowledge" of an installed app?
LLXX replied to Rushed Luncheon's topic in Windows XP
Export their registry keys, and find which files they have placed in your system directories by unpacking and inspecting their installers. -
I remember a topic about this in the IE7 forum... For sites like Rapidshare, Megaupload, etc. you need special download manager e.g. Universal Share Downloader (Google for the exact link...)
-
Just ignore those errors, there's nothing wrong with your machine. It's just the fault of the web page.

Monitors shouldn't need drivers... What video card are you using?

As in having working drivers available. I should probably avoid the 900 series chipsets then. Asus makes a good s775 mobo with an 865 chipset (P5P800SE)... Would the GMA900 exceed the performance of the AGP nVidia GeForce FX5200 I currently have? Regarding the driver for it, Scitech also has free non-commercial license, in fact the source code and binaries for their "universal" driver are available for download from their site. Here is a portion of the INF file of that universal driver: %sdd.DeviceDesc%=sdd, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7121; 810 %sdd.DeviceDesc%=sdd, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7123; 810 %sdd.DeviceDesc%=sdd, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7125; 810E %sdd.DeviceDesc%=sdd, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1132; 815 %sdd.DeviceDesc%=sdd, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3577; ? %sdd.DeviceDesc%=sdd, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2562; 845G/GL/GV %sdd.DeviceDesc%=sdd, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3582; 852,855GM/GME <- not familiar with these chipsets %sdd.DeviceDesc%=sdd, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2572; 865G/GL/GV %sdd.DeviceDesc%=sdd, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2582; 915G/GV <- this is what you were looking for? %sdd.DeviceDesc%=sdd, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2592; 915GM/GMS %sdd.DeviceDesc%=sdd, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2782; ? %sdd.DeviceDesc%=sdd, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2792; ? I'll probably go with the ICH5 and 865, given that the ICH6+ doesn't have drivers for 98se. Once again, ICH5 seems to be the best choice as all my HDDs are PATA. An AC97 is what I have in my current mobo, that should be fine...My desired upgrade: Pentium D 511 (2.8GHz), I've heard that this one overclocks well, 4GHz+. Assu P5P800SE mobo All the other components I can use from my existing machine.

Thanks - it will go further, but if i goto 2.6Ghz it hits the upper end of 39'C So, I'll, justs tick with it where it is i think I don't think 39°C is too hot... according to official AMD specification your CPU can run up to 70°C so you still have a large temperature range left.

Problem with your video card?
-
I think you should ask yourself if you really need it. Sure, it's great to try some new software, but is it really necessary? I'm still using Office XP... have had no problems with it yet. The new UI is just... yuck

How to disable AutoIt System tray icon?
LLXX replied to xtremee's topic in Programming (C++, Delphi, VB/VBS, CMD/batch, etc.)
Actually, some don't even consider VB to be a real language... more along the lines of C/C++ -
That table is only for Intel-manufactured mobos (Intel® Desktop Boards), I was looking for information on whether or not e.g. an Asus mobo with a 975-based chipset is compatible with 98se. It's still rather depressing that none of the Intel mobos with 900 series chipsets supports 98se

A resource editor and some time is what you need...

Is your hardware stable? Memtest the RAM and Prime95 the CPU for a few hours.

I was planning to upgrade my system hardware but still retain 98se OS. I've been searching but I can't find any table on the Intel site that shows which chipsets have 98se drivers available. Are there any such tables been created? In particular, I'd like to see compatibility data for: Intel® 975X, 955X, 925X/XE Intel® 945G/P/PL/GT/GZ Intel® 915G/GV/GL/PL/P Intel® 910GL Intel® 875P Intel® 865G/GV/P/PE Intel® 848P Intel® 845/E/G/GE/GL/GV/PE

You need to edit the routing tables... -
OEM drives are also cheaper since they don't come with a lot of wasteful packaging material.

Your modem would need to be able to hear correctly the pulsed dialing signal or the variable frequency tones sent out by the phone, depending on which signalling system your telephone service uses. Most modems can't do that. Maybe those that support receival of voice, but the software is still not going to be much easier. -
MS Paint is enough for that... eraser tool and a little patience

Has anyone else thought about doing a Win98SE live cd?
LLXX replied to OneWingedShark's topic in Windows 9x/ME
It's been done before... search MSFN and you'll find a few threads about it. Here's one: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=68860 -
You can disable the automatic disk scanning on bootup...
-
...or try a linux live CD, like Knoppix. As far as I'm aware, Linux doesn't have full NTFS filesystem support yet. I think it can do read and write, but none of the enhanced features are supported.
