  1. Boot to DOS or another OS and check the functionality of those keys to determine whether it is a problem with Windows or the hardware.
  2. "If you register, you're selling your soul to M$"
  3. Very likely a memory leak in a shell extension. Explorer.exe itself doesn't leak memory.
  4. If you use a pirate copy it's probably already got the WGA crack so the point is moot. The only thing about it is its illegal, other than that there is really no difference.
  5. ffdshow.
  6. Being in the 9x forum here, I recommend 98SE over ME.
  7. Well, you can still 'make' your own source, if you know what I mean Had to do exactly that for Copy2Gb and Enable48BitLBA.
  8. Calm down... how are we supposed to find a solution to your problem if you can't even explain it properly?
  9. It's not a clicking, just normal access noise? Run HiJackThis and post the log. Probably some process or virus is constantly reading/writing to the drive. You can also try FileMon to see what programs are accessing what files. Ensure the Indexing Service is disabled, if you haven't already done so.

    Pop Up's

I'd do it manually... looking at the output of HiJackThis is not too difficult...

    Force Format?

Tried the format command at a cmd prompt? (Ensure you have the correct drive letter!)
  12. That would be the property sheet handler... I usually disable the installation of such things since every time you access the file's properties it has to read the file to obtain that information.
  13. Given that a firewall has to hook the network API, it's not surprising that a driver would have to be installed. The hooking can be dynamic, however, although I have yet to see a firewall implement that functionality as static boot-time hooking is usually easier.
  14. Unless you're copying over 128Gb of data to the drive during the install, it shouldn't be a problem.
  15. ...what have they been doing with these newer versions, I thought Winamp was to be only an MP3 player (and all I want it to be, anyway).
  16. Read the MySQL Reference Manual for more information.
  17. If you want a higher wattage, get an amplifier and insert it in-line with the antenna. Almost all wireless cards can't go above 0.03W due to their design. You can mod some amplifiers to greatly increase the power, but be careful with this as the FCC won't be very happy if you exceed the regulated maximum transmit power (4W for 802.11b and g in USA) even though many amplifiers can go above 10W easily.
  18. Or accidentally connect it backwards...
  19. There's always the option of 'Insert a narrow rod into the eject hole'...
  20. Make sure you're booting from the drive that contains your OS...
  21. I believe most HP printers can also be reset through the parallel/USB port by using software (Service Program or some similar name).
  22. The .vob actually contain more data than a .mpg, it's just that the mpg decoder automatically finds the start of the mpg stream by looking for specific stream and frame headers. This is how fast forward/rewind work without the stream containing any index info (it's just an endless stream). You can prove this by taking any mpg file and inserting as many bytes at the front of it as you want, and also inserting bytes within the data itself will at worst cause one or two bad frames. The mpg format is very resilient and robust.
  23. That's not fdisk that's his BIOS. See my post above yours?
