  1. Reinstall IE7 from a fresh source?
  2. You don't expect people work in shifts at M$, do you?
  3. nitroshift

    Error

What application are you trying to install and where? Could you post a screenshot?
  4. SP2 will NOT appear in you Add/Remove list, even if the box "Show updates" is ticked. And I don't think you can uninstall it as such because upon installation it rewrites (quite) a few files in your windows directory.
  5. Installed RC1 yesterday. Same specs (see sig) as when installed 5472. Strange thing: in 5472 I had a 3.1, now in RC1 I got 4.4. Woohoo! Still my CPU is seen as running at 1.5GHz
  6. Apparently you can still use it for 14 days without a key
  7. Check this out
  8. Why would we bother looking around in ANOTHER forum when we have everything here???? And we can test it ourselves! Or you reckon we are less skilled than people posting on those forums? McoreD, should we need info from other groups, we know where to find them. MSFN Forums is here for all of us to share OUR OWN experiences. Please bare that in mind. Sorry if I sound harsh, but I just LOVE msfn
  9. Installed RC1 yesterday. Winrar = OK. Just as in XP. Nero 7 = OK. Custom install, Nero Express and Nero Burning ROM only. CounterStrike 1.6 = OK. Slight improvement over XP. CounterStrike Source = OK. Didn't notice any difference over XP. Office 2003 = OK. Opens up more quickly than in XP. ACDSee 8 Pro = OK. Custom install, left out "Device Detection". Although presented with a number of pop-ups regarding compatibility, it runs exactly as it does in XP. Total Commander = OK. Same as in XP. Technisat Utility = NOT OK. It checks for WMP 9 or higher but doesn't recognise version 11, install fails. Technisat, please read and do something about it! ProgDVB = NOT OK, but it's mostly due to the fact that Technisat Utility didn't install. Serious Sam2 = OK. Ran it from a DVD even! Zuma Deluxe = OK. Started faster than in XP. Commandos Strike Force = OK. No difference over XP. Sniper Elite = OK. Same as above. Red Alert 2 = Ok. Same as above. Hoyle Board Games 2005 = OK. Slightly disrupted until installed lastest forceware from nVIDIA. ARCGis 9 = OK. All programs in the package went smoothly. Mozilla Thunderbird = OK. Same experience as in XP. Mozilla Firefox = OK. Same as above. BSPlayer (free version) = OK-ish. Sometimes doesn't show any picture on the screen, must be restarted. FFDShow = OK. It does its job like in XP. nVIDIA Pure Video Decoder = OK. Didn't notice any difference over XP. Yahoo messenger 8 = OK. Same as in XP. That's about all the programs I managed to install and test so far, will carry on when I get back home (am at work now). Regards, nitro
  10. The BIOS would still see it. LLXX is right, make sure you enabled the SATA function of the chipset in the BIOS.
  11. Sure there is! Just give the user a restricted account
  12. How big is your pagefile? Also, are you trying ot connect to it remotely (from another pc)? If so, what is your network configuration? We need more specific details to be able to help you. For further details please read this.
  13. Have you tried the one on Neowin?
  14. We need more info on your local network. Are you running a dedicated server OS? I think this post should go under Networks thread. However, the easiest way to do it is make the Links foder on the server, share it and map it from every pc around the network.
  15. Maybe he used 22 kinds of USB sticks... But still
  16. Yep, welcome back
  17. As long as the changes affect the OS only, not installed programs, I assume you can.
  18. Haha, you never said you used an already installed windows. Now that you will freshly install it, I don't see you getting that "horrible blue screen" anymore
  19. I still believe that booting off a dvd and installing on a clean primary (and active) partition is the best way to do it.
  20. You mean the cd inside the drive is blank? If so, that's normal, my DVD-RW drive shows the same when I insert a blank cd in it and it's a fully working drive (brand new too).
  21. smooth and slick B) well done!
