  1. It looks like this might help you, but I've never used it before.
  2. The Ethereal idea is primarily for YOUR side of the modem. I've heard that it is possible to sniff your local cable modem user pool but have never tried it. If you are trying to sniff the OTHER side of your modem maybe someone else can helps us here or I will do some more research. It woul be neat to learn about. That is a current, known Ethereal bug for Win98. Try using a development version.
  3. If you are being blocked at your ISP you will have a really tough time getting around their roadblocks...and in the process you will get caught and they will terminate your contract. You are better off getting a different ISP...save yourself the time/trouble. I'm still not sure if you are trying to monitor the users on YOUR side of the cable modem or on the OTHER side of the cable modem. For Ethereal you must first install WinPcap.
  4. There is probably a dlink/linksys product that can act as a proxy client so you can route everything through the router. What software do you use that doesn't have a proxy option?
  5. I'm having trouble understanding what you need/want to do. Your first post kinda sounded like you needed proxy help but then you mentioned a firewall. You want to view other people's network traffic? Do you mean on the LAN side of a home router? Have you looked at Ethereal?
  6. You should be able to setup the proxy within each application, but of course it depends on the applicaitons. For example, in Thunderbird (email) you go to TOOLS/OPTIONS/CONNECTION SETTINGS and the proxy info is in there.
  7. The new version has been uploaded. The link has not changed. EDIT: link removed. Refer to first post.
  8. 71.* is your internet IP, 10.* is your LAN IP. You may be interested in using a dynamic DNS service like http://www.dyndns.com/about/ If you are running IIS you should be able to access the server by your internet IP whether or not it is dynamic...it is just easier for servers to be static.
  9. The new version has been uploaded. The link has not changed. @Electrician: I changed the filename from mixed case to lower case to match the old file/link (linux server). EDIT: link removed. Refer to first post.

    HFSLIP your codecs

References: Original thread: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...533;entry101200 Yzowl's Mod: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...533;entry323635 HFSLIP addon: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=68536 Most credit goes to those references...I've just tweaked/updated/merged for our audience. My eyes are still crappy. I didn't get the quick-healing LASIK; PRK takes longer to heal up. I've been lucky enough to have a good deal of time off of work because of the surgery and that time has allowed me to catch up on some projects like this.

    HFSLIP your codecs

@Kiki: That is only needed to uninstall the codecs. Do you need to do that?
  12. Please describe your network layout. Do you use a router? What kind? How is it configured? Do you use ICS? Are you using static or dynamic IPs?
  13. That is a tougher question to answer than you would think. I will try to keep it the same but there are a few scenarios that would cause it to change. This is probably a better link and can be considered perm as long as the file name doesn't change. I'll leave that up to Electrician. EDIT: link removed. Refer to first post.
  14. That is a spooky problem. Please be more specific about how you are burning these discs. Did you follow the steps to allow HFSLIP to create the ISO? Did you deviate from them at all? I wonder if you are having a filesystem issue...perhaps you have an incorrect setting somewhere that is causing your ISOs to not properly maintain long paths. It could also be your CD drive. You mentioned that the laptop's drive isn't a CD-RW and so it is likely an older drive...older drives are notorious for having difficulty reading burnt discs but it is usually and all or nothing deal. To test this, toss your disc into another machine/drive and see if you get past that error.

    HFSLIP your codecs

Here is a new version of the pack. Unattended installation: Manually create HFSLIP\HFEXPERT\CODECS directory Dump contents of pack into CODECS
  16. @fdv: Nicely written. My only critique is that HumInt should be written as HUMINT. Trust me
  17. There is an excellent comparison here. That is an older project. Thibor's is the most current version.
  18. That is one of the cool things about this project/community: there are so many ways to accomplish a goal. Everyone has a way that they prefer.
  19. Someone else may be able to help you with the XP wizards, but I recommend doing it manually: Install printer In control panel/printers, right-click on the printer In the sharing tab, enable sharing and give it a name On the same tab, enable drivers for the other OS Go to the client machine, navigate to the host machine/printer Right-click on that printer and "install" it on the client machine (not sure which word is right here)
  20. Why are you running the setup wizard if both PCs can already access the net OK? XP likes to run wizards every time you blink and I've seen it go through the rigamole you are experiencing. That is why I hate XP. Also, don't get hung up on the terminology that XP uses. It is confusing in its attempt to be user-friendly. Bottom line: your stuff works as it is, so what is it that you are trying to change/accomplish?
  21. So Wireless Zero was working, you applied that .reg and it broke your Wireless Zero? If so, reset back to defaults...if it works that way, selectively apply the reg tweaks until you find the offending one.
  22. Also don't forget that after you load new firmware it is best to reload the factory default settings.
  23. Has this db ever worked when stored on the unix server? Please verify that it will work there locally and then try accessing it remotely.
