    HFSLIP your codecs

It is probably just me, but this post seems to be gibberish. I can't make any sense of it! Please do a search of all your HFSLIP stuff and see what file contains that text string.
  2. This isn't that tough to do. Here is a guide.

    HFSLIP your codecs

Doesn't removing WMP also remove the WM codecs? Either way, the old version of this pack had working WM codecs so I can repackage those for ya. You will probably be the only tester though. That is intriguing. Once upon a time the archive was named HFcodecs.zip. I may have used hfcodecs.cab in a few months ago when I was playing with the INF but it isn't used now. Also, the current pack doesn't even use an INF. I searched *all* of my codec resources and can't find a reference to that anywhere. Did you unpack the new pack into a directory containing an older version? If so, please delete and start from scratch. If not, maybe TP/TC can help out on this one?

    HFSLIP your codecs

.asf won't work until you install windows media codecs which are *not* part of this pack. I took them out by request bcause HFSLIP already does a great job of slipsteaming them via wmfdist.exe. .swf is flash which is also not part of this pack...not really a codec, per se. I am still working on .mp4 support. .mov (and real) are tough...sometimes they works for me, sometimes they don't. They seem to be common amongst other codec packs. The best solution if qt/earl are important to you is to install the 'Alternate' installers...they consistenly do a good job. The rest of those should work so I wonder what you did with nLite...can you tell me? Windows media codecs again... Whta exactly did you do with nLite? I never use it, and many of the files that didn't work for you don't give me any trouble. After we get some testing out of the way there will be a post that walks through these issues a bit better.
  5. Be careful, there are two different applications called Proxifier. The GPL one does NOT appear to be what we are talking about, but the closed-source shareware application looks pretty good. Here is a good download link. Nice find, LLXX
  6. Lots of other tools can be found here. You can't gather data to the same extent as the network admins, but you can pick up some interesting info.
  7. The new version has been uploaded. The link has not changed. EDIT: link removed. Refer to first post.
  8. FYI for those who are unfamiliar with this stuff: These tools are for use within a virtual machine. Most people will add them to an HFSLIP ISO to make it easier to test/bugcheck whatever it is they are working on. You should NOT install these tools on real, live machines.
  9. Correct It is a bit tricky, actually. When you "Install VMWare tools" within VMWare all it *really* does is mount an ISO as a CD drive. For most people that would automatically install the tools because of Autorun but most of us tweakers wisely disable that feature...it took me a long time to figure out why it wasn't working! Anyway, after the ISO is mounted you can browse to it and the tools are in there.
  10. No. Ethereal does not have a port scanning capability.
  11. His web access is restricted by the proxy. The proxy is his only route to the world.
  12. It took two days for my SunRocket setup to be complete...
  13. It is a switchless installer of the *TOOLS* not the 'workstation'. This enables cool features within a VMWare machine like drag/drop, enhanced mousing (no more grabbing!), and more flexible resolutions. Because it is only good for use within a VM, there is no trial version of this package. To be clear: this doesn't do you any good unless you are loading your already have VMWare Workstation installed and are loading ISOs into a VMWare machine.
  14. Thought I posted this info somewhere but I am too lazy to search for it. Sorry... I worked on this issue a few months ago. Short version of the story: I am hosting a stripped-down version of RogueSpear's addon here that works great as a switchless installer. I've used it A LOT and never had any issues with it.

Installing those other packs is up to you...if all of your movies play fine then there is no reason to install them. If you have movies that don't play then let me know and I'll see if we can fix the pack. I put together some codec test movies to facilitate testing of this sort. It will be another week or so on the separate packs. I am in the middle of a marathon work week right now but then I get a nice chunk of time off.
  16. Ethereal is great but I personally wouldn't classify it as a port scanner. It is used for passive monitoring, not active probing. Are you sure that it even has the ability to port scan? I've never tried...
  17. You connect to the net via an Ethernet cable w/o a router/modem/gateway device? You must be in a college dorm or something....in that case you should be able to easily sniff lots of traffic on your network segment. Based on everything you have told me, Ethereal is exactly what you need. It is pretty much the standard. That doesn't mean that it is user-friendly, though. You need to have an understanding of how packet-switched networks operate.
  18. In reality, only my momma calls me TAiN
  19. Or perhaps WinGate can help you? You should realize that your company probably has their proxy setup like this for a reason and that if you start sending unauthorized traffic through the proxy you WILL get busted eventually. It is their network and they can do whatever they want with it.
  20. Of course that is him. FDV is the only one of us with the juevos to post his real pic and use his real name
  21. OK, i've got a better grasp on your situation now Right...I was just saying to check the number now instead of waiting 20 days...it could happen any before then. When it does, you are done. Are you trying to do something like this?
  22. So is the problem that you want to move the base station but that it needs to plug into the VoIP box? Here is how I interpret your posts: Dial your new number. If it works, the transfer is complete. That 20 day crap is just to be safe. It takes hardly any time at all. So the base station is in the office, but the VoIP box is in another room? How are they connected? Is this room different from the office where the base station currently sits? The office sounds like a place of business to me But I thought that the base was already in the office/business room? Argh!
  23. I must be missing something here. Why don't you setup the base station at the VoIP box and then setup one of the wireless wall-plug stations in the other room?
  24. Your last post said that you have mutiple wireless handsets...won't one of those do the trick? That is how my VoIP is setup.
