    Slashdot

We're mentioned on Slashdot again. It wasn't me this time! http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=202824&cid=16594174 Hey FDV, could you post a link to the new site on your page?
  2. The LSI Logic one that you posted I really need to work on the clarity of my posts
  3. Sorry. Those are unrelated topics and my post should have been more clear. That error causes text-mode setup to fail. I fixed the entry and was able to continue, but wanted to let Oleg know so that the package could be updated.Where did you get this other driver?

    Codec slipstreaming

No change, and I don't anticipate it changing. No change here, either. Does anyone have the bare-minimum files required for H.264 support? If so, I can either host them or integrate them.
  5. I don't see a way to test this STORAGE method in VMWare. I tried, but the BusLogic driver is already in Win2K and there is no LSI Logic driver for Win2K. VMWare tells you as much, and those are the only two virtual devices that would work for this. Also, there is an error in storage.ini on line 6820. This error causes setup to fail. PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0182 "SiSRaid2", "SiS 182 RAID Controller"should be: PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0182 = "SiSRaid2", "SiS 182 RAID Controller"
  6. That is "the work" he is referring to; not necessarily publishing an exhaustive product. When I think of reg tweaks for MSFN members I think about tweaks that are attractive to unattended installs and the other cool stuff we do here. That at least would apply to the list of tweaks maintained in this forum, while the Tips forum could maintain other tweaks. I agree that keeping the focus smaller than "all the tweaks that can be tweaked" is a good idea. I also think that this topic is more appropriate to the Tweaks forum unless a topic is made for unattended-specific tweaks. More ideas?
  7. Tomcat76 has another method that works for INF-based silent installs that can be used in addons: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=61784
  8. For the record, Oleg_II's stuff is *awesome*! This fix works far better for me than I had imagined. Not only does it restore Help functionality, but it also enables Outlook 2003 to render HTML on a heavily HFCLEANUPped system. Bravo! I was telling Tomcat76 how great this is and he made a silent installer for it. I think that many FDV/HFCLEANUP users will find it very handy. Here is the download. Thanks, guys!

    Greetings

    We've been waiting right here
  10. This Google search finds some interesting guides and reviews. This one, in particular, looks good. As with anything in life: You get what you pay for. If you pay more money, you should normally expect to receive better uptimes, support, backup, net defense, etc.But I recommend you just go with http://msfnhosting.com
  11. No, your installer is *more compatible* with HFSLIP/HFSVCPACK, just that my peculiar config choked on it. I plan to leave your installer as the one hosted.
  12. Looks like this crowd can't help you on this one...perhaps the XP folks can help? [ moved ]
  13. The Dude looks cool.

    Codec slipstreaming

I just made some comparison runs to see how well this works compared to no pack and compared to the MSFN Codec Pack. This pack fared much better than I anticipated. Using this pack to play the test videos, there were only two files that had unexpected trouble: I263.avi and Huffyuv.avi. The MSFN Codec Pack also had trouble with huffyuv.avi, but it played I263.avi. It did not play the VP6 codec. Please note that these results do not include the unsupported formats like FLV, QT, etc.
  15. Did this also get posted in the application addons forum?
  16. I would be interested in downloading that. I'll also host it for you if you like.
  17. The milestone HFSLIP release made it to the MSFN front page today Great job everybody!
  18. thanks for this Tain & TC! Please note that I have had one problem with this installer. I use HFCLEANUP to remove lots of stuff. VMWareTools was stopping my installs because it needed the HTML help subsystem. I am probably the only weirdo that this problem applies to

  21. Forum topics can be downloaded in several formats or printed. In this topic, for example, there is a box towards the upper right that says "Options" and it contains facilities for printing and downloading. Here are the instructions from our help section.
  22. Ah, OK. So it is the equivalent to the VMWareTools that Tomcat76 mentioned. I am not familiar with that software, but would expect to find something like that over here . However, a quick search wasn't fruitful. You may want to consider putting in a request in that forum or searching the RyanVM forums.
  23. Perhaps a new thread should be started for that tool?
  24. I'm confused...where do we find the latest version of this? The first post or this other post? Or is that something different? The first post hasn't been updated in a very long time...
