Not only is MediaPortal free, it is Open Source! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaPortal That being said, it is a rather heavy application if all you want is a slide show. Have you tried IrfanView? I'd be surprised if it doesn't do slideshows...but not sure if it has a media center-style interface or not.

I've been using TeraCopy and it works pretty well. But it does have some problems when transferring data over LAN.

Another vote for ypops. I think it will meet your needs, but be careful with the configuration of it. You can quickly make sweeping changes to your online mailbox (including deleting all your mail).

2142 looks neat, but I like the modern combat pseudo-realism of BF2. But I believe the games are essentially very similar.

MusicIP Mixer analyzes songs for their content and then compares that data to an online database. The tags can then be adjusted accordingly. It takes some time to process, but is a great application. http://musicip.com/mixer/index.jsp

I'd let you borrow mine but I'm having too much fun with it I used a trackball for FPS gaming many years ago. I did get annoyed at how dirty it got, but mostly I was bothered by the thumb cramps and the popping thumb knuckle that persists to this day.
