Honestly, I believe German isn't a difficult language, grammar is more or less easy. oh it's not. I can usually skim through most latin based languages and get the general gist of things, but it's not basis for understanding or translating Though I probally should learn german, and my girlfriend has been nagging at me to take german next year......

Since this is the place to suggest stuff (i think anyway) http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...ndpost&p=169731 That post and the one right below it bring up some good points. I have no idea if it can be implemented or how, but the idea is a good one.

Hotfixes For Windows XP Professional SP1
Alanoll replied to Aaron's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
doesn't work quite right. Alot fo the hotfixes don't have the proper INF entries to apply the slipstream. After all the modifying of files and whatnot, it would be easier jsut to use XPCREATE or to jsut run the EXE. -
Now that would be really amusing, thought not for GM. Install XPcreate, and the virusscanner reports a virus. lol. Sorry, couldn't resist.

YOu may want to report this in the nLite forum. It could just be a bug in the components you selected. Some wierd compoentents cause wierd results. You never know.

Within a week or two there should be a new Divx release to correc the SP2 issues. ffdshow isn't really a codec, it's more of a postprocessing codec technicially. The K-Lite codec is pretty comprehensive but only has versions that are released by others. It's more of acompilation and not their own codecs. I believe the Xvid codec can handle Divx5 streams.

Your installation is still Pro, go to System Properties to verify. I'm guessing Microsoft just removed all the tags as it means they can have ONE kernel and the same settings across all their XP system.

Performance Counters, and what they MIGHT be for
Alanoll replied to kalavera's topic in Windows Tips 'n' Tweaks
do you people have ANY idea how many clicks taht was? You have your own topic now. Now to decide what forum it should be in..... -
That's simple as well.....atleast on mine... Install the drivers through OEMPnPDriversPath AND CMDLINES.TXT by using the INF and SETUP.EXE for the drivers.... Then upon restart install the control panel. voila. works fine over here with the latest Catalyst drivers (on more then one system I might add)
-
Lots and lots of registry monitoring and file watching Why do you want to make an MSI package for the Catalyst drivers? They're perfectly installable as they are. Anyone who says another wise, just doesn't do them right (I'm currently running 4.8 in my install with no problems)

come on WIHU 3.0!! change the INI syntax once more Now all I need is someone who speaks english and german and has a good deal of time on their hands.

I have MMC 9.0 installed just fine over here. Drivers\ATI\MMC\Setup.exe -s -f1"%WIHU%\Drivers\ATI\MMC\mmc.iss" -f2"%SYSTEMROOT%\Temp\mmc.log" ISS file attached. Setup.exe is the file downloaded from ATI. And as a side note, MDAC/DAO isn't really required for it to work. I don't install it, and it works just fine. MMC.ISS

.net (netfx) install the way mce and tabletpc do
Alanoll replied to bilemke's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
You should still need to have the IDENT file for the second disk though.....as that's how it finds d4 -
untrue, <hidewindow> is still effective in XPlode.... however it serves a different purpose then what you're trying. <hidewindow>CMD.EXE</hidewindow> ONLY hides CMD.EXE IF IT IS RUNNING WHEN XPLODE is started. Meaning if you used a batch to call XPlode, and have that hidewindow, XPlode would hide the starting batch. It does not however hide any new spawned cmd.exe, for that purpose, killerbee is correct, you should use hide=true.

but the only keys taht I'm aware of being blacklisted are a few VLK keys, not normal Pro keys.

you want your avatar in your System Properties? I don't think you can have an animated GIF, but http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/oeminfo.htm that is the page to tell you what to do

well, My reasoning is excessively LONG posts should be attached regardless. Sure it makes it easier if it's just posted, but it saves bandwidth (granted not much) or makes the board easier to navigate. I've seen some code posts......printed they take up 3 pages, and someone thought they should just copy paste it all.

the only problem I've ever had with making the discs was the infamous ASMS error. That for me atleast was bad media. One more burn and it was fixed.

This removes those folders protections, where as the hacked file prevents SFC from replacing the new file with the original. It takes BOTH to completely disable it. But by editing sfcfiles.dll you essentially remove the files from the SFC protection list. Xerox, good question Microsoft Frontpage, I believe Outlook Express or something uses it. I could be wrong (most likely too on this)

yes. SETUPLDR.BIN , PRO1.DAT (or what ever boot sector is causing you problem) , TXTSETUP.SIF Also be sure you have deleted, BOOTSECT.DAT and migrate.inf from your boot folder.

that's a VERY good question. To be honest, I have NO idea. Thought I'll look into it @Astalavista edbro is correct. If you specify the Parent, all the children are selected to be installed as well. And FYI, the only REAL settings that will take effect from your INI are the registration and shortcut switches. The others are redundant as you specified XFULL=1 in the command line. Unless of course you don't want anything, then you should really remove XFULL=1 from the command call. So to reiterate, if you specified XAUDIO=1, then ALL the audio stuff gets installed, where as you just specified XWAV=1 and XMID=1 then then ONLY those would get installed (assuming you ALSO don't have XAUDIO=1, as that would override the others) As for the PMs, I don't really mind them that much, assuming people have actually searched before hand. But when I 20 PMs a day asking where so and so should put start.cmd, it gets kinda annoying. No offense to those who PMed me with such a question.

Use the program that came with your McAfee Enterprise installation package, it allows you to preconfigure almost all of the settings.
