  1. SP2 can and is meant to be able to be slipstreamed over SP1. It will update the source. Alot of people don't have a plain XP anymore.....so Microsoft has to do this. Don'tworry.
  2. Double check you're modifying the right file, and making the ISO from the place you think you are. I have two folders XP_UN_SP2 and XP_SP2_UN and I get them missed up alot.
  3. Whoops, must have missed this.... I'll check the Xaudio thing. On mine they install, but I'll double check when I get home. As for Sonic.....grrrr.....I'll look into it. I don't use Sonic so I didn't test it. As for enabling by default, not a clue.
  4. it's clean now
  5. NO hotfixes are required after updating to SP2. .NET and Highmat are Updates, not hotfixes. also, a little search wouldn't hurt. Delete SVCPACK.INF. That should clear the problem.
  6. TO clear the confusion, let's go through this list. SP2 contains WMP9 along with it's latest hotfix. Notice how the build number is higher? MDAC 2.81 I believe is included? MDAC2.8 and before needed this patch. Weren't these included in the latest Cumulative Update for IE? If not, they're still included in SP2. Service Packs are cumulative. They include the previous SP, and all Hotfixes that were created before the code was frozen. In this, ALL of them. SP usually don't contain Recommended patches unless they were originally included in the OS (WMP or DX). DX9.0c is included in SP2, so you don't need to isntall that seperately. WMP9 is also included. Juding from You're not slipstreaming but simply adding the entire 266 meg file to your CD. So that means you have the original 450 meg XP, the 120 meg (give or take) SP1, AND the 266 meg SP2. That's about 900 megs right? Look here.... http://www.msfn.org/articles.php?action=show&showarticle=49 Start with a Fresh copy with no hotfixes or anythign added. Slipstream SP2. You won't need any hotfixes, but you want, you may include .NET framework, Journal Viewer, and HighMat. But that's up to you. EDIT: FYI- This is the list that contains ALL the fixes contained in SP2. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...%5bLN%5d;811113 http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/news/xpsp2.mspx
  7. @GM If you still haven't gotten the updated deploy.cab yet.... http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en
  8. nLite breaks the install when OOBE is removed.
  9. he was talking about the place where HP normally puts their logo and support information. I'm guessing he wants to add his own.

    New DirectX

Good question I haven't gotten around to updating my Win2k disc yet. lol. kinda busy.
  11. UXtheme.dll controls what themes/visual styles can be used in XP/2003. The "patched" version simply allows you to use visual styles that were created by people OTHER then Microsoft like from such sites as www.themexp.org or www.stylexp.com. StyleXP does the same thing sorta, but this is free and StyleXP isn't.
  12. not in XPCREATE. You can't define custom flags. However, it's easy to modify it. Say DXSETUP.EXE /silent is what you're trying to run. THen in SVCPACK.INF with the other hotfix files, just type DXSETUP.EXE /silent and have DXSETUP and all neccesary files in the I386\SVCPACK directory (or whatever directory you specified in DOSNET.INF, by default with XPCREATE it's SVCPACK.INF)
  13. so I was right then... I jsut expected you to know what you did.
  14. that's where I live Just north actually, but hey, 5 minutes away from Dallas City Limits is close enough Sure hope you don't go to UT.....
  15. I believe I posted about this sometime ago.....the whole switching EXE's.....
  16. as expected, people post in teh forums without searching. It's on the frontpage news, and already a post in the Windows XP section. And I believe there are already additions added to teh guide
  17. You may include all drivers you can even consider you will need in the same answer file. Windows XP matchs the PNP-ID's to the device INFs and will search through all the INFs to find the correct driver. It may slow down your install depending on access times, but Windows will select teh proper driver ( ie, it won't select a nvidia driver for an ATI card) http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/drivers.htm
  18. What are their solutions? Could help the next person who comes along
  19. Howdy Cowboy! Enjoy your stay here, one Texan to another
  20. I beg to differ I just finish things too fast, and so I ahve alot of spare time. lol. if you think 1000 posts is a milestone, just wait till you see your post count jump with the mod position.
  21. Thanks go to GM for bringing that to light once again.
  22. i would think the deploy.cab released for SP2 would be better suited for SP2.
  23. add UnattendSwitch=Yes This will disable OOBE, however you're resolution may still remain 640*480. You could try the vidchanger on teh Unattended website if you like.
  24. 59a98f181fe383907e520a391d75b5a7 3 for 3. Good good. The digital signature is also the same from the previous files....
  25. do a search on those funky characters... I believe the remedy, was open up the file (that deletes the folder) on EDIT, through a CMD prompt (EDIT BATCH.CMD) and then enter the command there and save. You'll still need to use the Ý though
