a simpler way to check for closing statements, would be just to open it in Internet Explorer. It will tell you if you forgot to close something.

they could either have misshipped, or Corsair just clocked it down to make more money.

I dunno, I got alot of read copy errors on a new computer I built last night. it ended up being the RAM chip (there was only one in there). I replaced it with another I had lying around, and install went flawless.
-
Yeah, it doesn't take long to make an MSI off of winamp and have it usable. The only problem would be that it would be specific to you, as you've selected the components to be installed. As I remember, I created one of the first MSI's for Winamp on this board. Perhaps THE first.

Te bundle is actually something like WMP9_MM2_OPK_ENU.EXE or soemthing like that. It's for the normal downloadable off the Microsoft website MPSetupXP.exe
-
yes, do try. Even if it is meant to be unattended, sometimes I'm still here waiting. It'd be nice to play something (that is if I dind't have a second computer to play something on)

mine only gets to like 20 and the begins to fail, so I jsut get a new one.

No... He's saying that when he installs XP, his Product Key is accepted. But when he installs 2000, he uses the same Product Key and it doesn't get accepted. He's trying to edit the SETUPP.INI file to change the kinds of keys that get accepted. Should we allow this on the forum? looks like someone was right.

in SVCPACK.INF add "mpsetup.exe /Q:A /R:N /c:"setup_wm.exe /Q /R:N /NoPID /DisallowSystemRestore /P:#e"" and have mpsetup.exe be in your SVCPACK directory.

to add coments, just put ; Comment goes here the ; makes the line a comment.

I believe he was trying to install XP from 2000, running the XP setup, but it won't accept the CD Key.
-
huh....and here I would have thought that setup stalled because you had PAUSE right at the end of your RunOnceEX batch file, and you can't tell it to continue since you hid it with cmdow at the beginning. True the numbers thing is a good point, and alittle neccesary to actually get them all to install, but the stall would be the PAUSE. I personally rename my iss file, but I also end up using -f2 on my installshield setups so they don't error out. Some are really picky about being able to right a log, and the default locaiton is in the installation directory, which really bites when it's on a CD.

the normal switch of /S will install EVERYTHING and then you have to kill winamp with taskkill or pskill. The MSI was removed as Mac got alittle ticked off because of some disrespect being spread on this topic.
-
I believe both of the above options may be hepful, but to actually answer the question, there is a new one called XPDeploy. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=19340

to remove the prompt for "Press and key.." that's on a normal setup cd, delete bootfix.bin from your boot folder. No hexing involved

no more flaming guys. Just productive bug reports if any, and be nice about it. Hopefully Mac isn't so upset that he doesn't share his great work with us anymore.

wow.....talk about an argument.

Answer to cant find missing NTLDR and REBOOT
Alanoll replied to Markymoo's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
um.... the editing of the boot sector and setupldr.bin file is clearly stated on the site. ( flyakite.msfnhosting.com ) but most people i've found have used lowercase instead of uppercase. That causes problems. Also the boot file does not need to be the same name as the boot folder. I have a boot file called XPUN.DAT and the folder it points to PRO1, on one disk and it works just fine. On another XPUN.DAT points to XPUP and still works (don't ask about UP, mistyped and I kept it). It's a pitty most people don't read or do what they're told to. Or most people won't have the problem. Most of the time, it is because they used lowercase or didn't edit the file properly, missing entries or missing a single letter. -
Autoformatting and Instlaling to a drive, is done entirely through the WINNT.SIF file. I personally leave those options out, so when during the TXTSETUP phase of install (the dos blue screens) it asks me what partition, and allows me to delete single partitions and whatnot and then select what partition to install to. The only problem though, is that you can't change drive letters at the same time So you IDE might come up as C: and your SCSI as D: E: respectively.

@Mac I posted the MSP as a fix, not as a replacement. To hopefully stop people from saying it doesn't work. Try and take some of the load off of ya. Besides, I thought I was supposed to take over the winamp? atleast back then when you were busy.....but I dunno if I'd have the patience to create what you've done. Too many **** components. I opened up the MSI in X, and wow....that's alot. Oh, not really a bug fix, but just a little cosmetics.... in your custom selection thing, you may want to have all those text labels (the ones showing the command line switches) being transparent so your divider lines show through.

my suggestion would be to check how XPCREATE creates the IE6 package. The one that is used in it does not require a reboot. And RunOnceEX would be different. If the process is interrupted in the middle, when it restarts it should start where it left off.

gen_ml.dll will disable the Media Library. by same switchs i meant /qn and by direclty after, when you have Winamp install using the MSI from the first post, install the patch afterwards. The patch removes the offending file that are the actual cause, without removing functionality.
-
hmm, perhaps I misunderstood? I thought he meant that he wanted to use the CD he created with XPCREATE as the new source for when a new HOTFIX comes out. I remember yous aying that's not a good idea. If that was not the intent of the original poster, my apologies. Just disregard me previous post.
-
here is a patch file to apply...... you could either call it directly after the winamp.msi with the same switches winamp.msp
-
i should point it, I didn't install everything. It's probally a Library file or Video or something. One of the things I DIDN'T install EDIT: It's added by Library. Alittle more trying down..... It's recent.dat and recent.idx files located in Winamp\Plugins\ml
