  1. yeah....for most fo teh fixes, that should work.
  2. ummm... well, considering they are the same operating system, should be fine. If you meant Win2K. Most are the same, but a few needs to be like the Advanced Networking Pack. It may be easier to use XPCreate. 2K can be used as the source, and if you put the 2K hotfixes in the right spot, it works just the same.
  3. the reason why there was a slipstream of WMP9, was because the creator extracted all the files, and found their corresponding files in the XP CD. Just stick with the switches, it is alot easier. You could also make an IEXPRESS package and have it install from SVCPACK
  4. i'm going to say is the Visual Basic Runtimes. I've seen this before.....but can't find the thread at the moment. Just go through, REM out each could of lines at a time, to narrow it down. Typically I've seen it caused by a hotfix, but I don't see any here. When does the Second window popup?

    XPdeploy 0.1b

looks cool. You're almost to the point of having a selectable XPlode. Just check the box that you want to install, then have a master install button to install what's checked. Ya know....sorta like Windows Update
  6. XPCreate updates the source with hotfixes.... XPlode is just a replacement of batch file and runoncex. XPlode allows for full customization of the program appearance.
  7. proved my point right there about security. I never said you couldn't do that. I know what the program can do. And I know where it's from. But it's not directly from Microsoft, and they could have changed something in them. True there are digital signatures, but that only affects the actual files, not the INFs. You can do ALOT with the INFS. It's not because its from neow1n. It's because we just don't like it. We prefer to learn, why else would we have an entire site devote to it? As for the <<spam>> messages, it's because of a rivalry between the sites. MSFN only has ONE filter on, and it's for that site. Go over to neow1n's forums. They have HUNDREDS on. There was also awhile back, when it appeared as though someone at Neow1n took something off this site almost word for word, but didn't give credit. So before you go off on a handle, dissing people because they don't like a tool. It's THEIR oppinions, and evidently, mine was valid.
  8. it would be the case on any system you attempt to use the DVD on, that does not have a formatted partition of FAT32 or FAT16
  9. umm.... first, we'd have to have access to WMP10. And officially, Microsoft doesn't want people to have it. So if you provided a link to it, you'd be breaking the rules. So i'd tried lightly concerning this. You're not even supposed to have it. Longhorn maybe, they released that to people at WinHEC and PDC, but I far as I know, they never realesed a copy of WMP10.
  10. alrighty....let's start from the beginning... it's always simpler to start from a working source. You say you already have a working SP2 CD that's unattended right? Just want to add programs and drivers. Most drivers are tricky. They come in a EXE for that then extact's it's setup. Just right-click on the file, and click Extract. You'll need either WinRAR or WinZIP to achieve this. Inside there will be a Setup.EXE file most likely, and files and folders. Inside one of the folders will by XP drivers. Or collectively all the drivers. The folder contains the INF files and the CAT files. Just look for those, and you should get most of the drivers. If the drivers however don't have this, or you want to install it's software, most use an InstlalShield installer. Refer to the Unattended website, Under Applications and at the bottom of the menu. It tells you what to do with those. Follow the drivers page. And add the entry as given, but with your folder structure. Add the OEMPnPDriversPath like it tells you to. Also make sure you add OEMPreInstall=YES under [unattend] in your Winnt.sif file. Once you get the working, report back. It's always better to take smaller steps then giant ones and screw up. It's hard to find the cause.
  11. why is it that everyone wants it done for them? You're the second one in less then a day. http://unattended.msfn.org have you checked out that site? That tells you switches to common programs, and where to place files and what not. Also how to deal with drivers. The more advanced stuff like bootscreen is found here in the forum. Specifically in the thread entitles "Giving Your Windows Cosmetic Surgery " in the Sticky section. As a side note, Steam isn't the new Half-Life. It's Vavles new online playing and subscription system. It allows you to buy and download teh game conviently. A nice handy search could yield positive results. However, you probally won't find someone to give you stuff. It takes some peopel a few months to get the disk right (I'm still working on it, and it's been a over 6, but I keep changing updating and such). It's always better to do it yourself, and if you're really compitent at teh computer, then it won't take you but a week to get it working right. It's the switches that take the longest then anything else. If you stick with batch files, then it won't take you long. It's advancing to XPlode or RunOnceEX where people get stuck as the syntax gets rather tricky with quotes.
  12. If you are going to learn to do an unattended install the cheap and easy way, then you might as well go over to their site. I mean, here, people try to do it the right way. Besides Autopatcher being bloatware, and highly to overated, it leaves the system vulnerable for a good hour or so. On a broadband connection, that will kill the machine leading to another format. Besides, why would you use a package that someone could very well have slipped something into without you knowing it. Not saying they would, but with the offical Microsoft updates, there isn't a question. XPCreate, you can easily see the source code. XPlode, heading in the open source direction. Autopatcher, never going.
  13. here's your pat on the back. i dunno, but did you ever realize that the disk was mastered under ISO 9660 specs? Under such specs, everythign should be 8.3 filenames and uppercase. Just so you know. Only thing that would change that would be to use the Joliet format or UDF.
  14. umm..... you don't partition or format in the VPC settings. Everytime you install XP, you most likely format. ME just requires you to do the formating priot to starting setup. just use the DOS commands FDISK and FORMAT. That's all you need to do. If you are using the first virtual OS that VPC created, then the virtual harddrive is dynamically allocated. I never liked that, so I changed it to fixed. You have to recreate the thing in the virtual machien properties while it's not on.
  15. you are using a fixed drive? it's in the settings for the drive image that you create for the virtual machine. Not your actual harddrive. If you are, you need to format at it. Partition and Format. A virtual machine is just like a normal one. You should use the same stuff you normally would.
  16. yeah, I remember a post from even LONGER ago. I just wish didn't type like this: I wuz her 4 a reson. R u her 2? Just little abbreviations thigns like that. hint hint. THey're just annoying as hell.
  17. you have to make it a fixed size disk. It's in the properties when you create the virtual disk. Don't use a dynamically allocating one, it will be a pain.
  18. did you format the drive first? not just partition, but also do a format?
  19. stupid actually, if you look to the left of the page, there is a link that says "Current Hotfixes". That's waht you want. http://greenmachine.msfnhosting.com/XPCREATE/current.htm
  20. @artpc read the thread before posting.
  21. I"m with gosh on this one. Also, I should point out, if I were having a bad day, I may just have deleted thsi thread. There are already many threads on Autopatcher. Most of which get discarded by people because they do prefer to learn to do it the "hard" way and learn. You're just cheating yourself. Besides teh SVCPACK.INF way is the way Microsoft describes how to perform the installs. It also makes sure you have a fully updated install at first startup rather then having it exposed untill GUIRunOnce is run, and then the system restarted again.
  22. .NET Framework Gosh?
  23. yeah....um..... %Sourcedrive% is not available EXCEPT THROUGH XPLODE. change cmdlines.txt as follows [COMMANDS]"..\PostInstall\XPlode.exe /log:%systemdrive%\xplode.log"
  24. I dunno. I have a system can handle 800*600, but the monitor's max resolution is 640*480. I built it so I can play Halo at school. You understand..... @nuhi Many kudo's. When it get's closer to what you consider completion, let me know, and I'll sticky it for awhile.
  25. you want everything to stay on the disk right? if so, then yes, and deleted these lines.... <item display='Copying Post-Installation Files'> <!-- these file system operations have been rewritten - they SHOULD support all files/directories etc. --> <copy source='%SOURCEPATH%\PostInstall' target='%SYSTEMDRIVE%\PostInstall' /> </item> Then open the XML file in Internet Explorer, if you get an error, fix it. If you see the XML file in the browsers, make sure it's saved as a UNICODE text file. Then try running Xplode again.
