  1. @nuhi How do you disable SFC? Do you have a precracked one and you hex in program or what? I would think you'd want to use the SFC file from the version they're using (SP1 or SP2 or RTM) to crack it, so they don't end up with files that are form another version. Just a thought. What you could do to clear up the whole mess, would just to put hooks in the program. Have the people get the files themselves. The hook would detect that the file is there, and enable the checkbox, otherwise it's just barren (nonselectable). Same goes for UXTheme.dll. They supply the file, you're program just adds it. BUT i can't stress the point, ONLY these two files. Otherwise people will be like, can you add an option for adding (insert thing).
  2. You get that copy error because it can't copy the file when you use a winnt.sif file. this may contain your drivers, check the listing. It will be the easiest thing. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=14869 If they're not included..... http://greenmachine.msfnhosting.com/READING/addraid.htm Read that. Follow the instructions. Either way, you won't have to mess with your floppy again. Then it will be just a normal unattended install to whatever drive you whish
  3. don't think of batch as a language. It's just a script. You call commands to execute. If nothing else, it's probally closer to BASIC then JAVA. There is no programming persay in batch files. As said before, you're just calling commands, that then perform the actions.
  4. It's REALLY easy. Especially if there are INF files. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/archive/default.mspx Scroll down to the point of INFINST.EXE and read. It's really simple. I did this as I have advanced hardware, and Windows wouldn't even start without the new drivers....(I wanted to play REALLY old games)
  5. I sure hope you're talkin about in Europe. Of all those brands, the ONLY ones I have in my computer, is Intel. And that's just hte chipset. Not the board. 333 = PC2700 I believe. Not sure though. They don't sell substandard quality stuff. If they did, there would be numerous class action suits. I RARELY see a seagate. The last one I saw was an old 2 gig. My drives are Maxtor, WD and a Hitachi. RAM is god knows. It's not kingston. Maybe PNY. Samsung has never touched this computer. Neither has Seagate. I have: P4 2.4 ghz 800 mhz bus DFI 865PE board. 1 gig of PC3200.
  6. alrighty.... I have one hdd connected on the primary channel. Two hdd connected to a ATA133 card (right there is a bottleneck) on the primary channel. One CDROM connected to the secondary channel of the ATA133 card. The other two CDROMs on the secondary mobo channel. I DON'T have Intel Application Accelerator installed. My first test, was from one of my harddrives on the ATA133 card to the primary, and the second was from Primary to Primary. My system is not overclocked at all. So it's not that. Perhaps you need the mobo drivers installed? Like all the bus drivers? AS for the cache, it really does help. Not by that great of difference however, should only add a fraction to the time. It could also be that you have other processes running. Even though the file copy doesn't seem like it, it still gets channeled through the processor.
  7. make sure you have the IDENT files in the root of your disk Win51 Win51IP Win51IP.SP1 README.HTML SETUP.EXE (I typed these from memory, but you need those)
  8. won't work. the files will be there, unfortunately the Registry entries won't be. If you open up the folder, then it'll work. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=11464&hl=
  9. anyone look on the front page today? I have no idea what is wrong with you. If you refer to jdoebeck's batches, they work. You just have to know how to use them. As for "horrible batch files", you deserve to be shot. Batch files are one of the best things ever created.
  10. 17 seconds. Any other tests you want? My system is neccesarily all that fast, a mere 2.4 ghz P4 I should also point out.... I have 3 harddrives, 3 CDROMs (DVD burner, DVD ROM, CD burner). 1 gig of PC3200 ram. I had to make up for the lag of having 3 hdds
  11. Intel 865PE Chipset. From one hdd on primary channel, to another on the same channel. File size : 679 MB. Time Taken : 8 Seconds. Type of HDDs: Maxtor and WD. Speed: 7200 8MB cache. IDE connected. (though I do have 2 SATA connections, I don't ahve the drives). Intel Application Accelerator? I don't believe that has ever touched my system.
  12. didn't answer my question. but judging from your response, I would guess that you haven't. Maybe try? If it doesn't work, then we know it's not the regfile and that saves having to go through it finding the problem which could be very tedious.
  13. you sure it's your registry file? I mean, have you tried the install, without executing the install file. Perhaps its something else?
  14. except it's via XML file, and joins with XPlode quite nicely.
  15. you really shouldn't post this on other sites untill its finished. Why in the world would you have them on another site not even make an effot to come to MSFN? You should have them come here to get it. I understand making the torrents so that there is a load on a server, but posting off site?
  16. works fine over here. I don't see why you need the JAVA VM for VBS files. VBS uses the windows host script. Try the method on the site again, and follow it exactly. I promise it works. Or try this... http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=10097
  17. Is a guide REALLY neccesary? It's common sense to me and anyone who ACTUALLY reads instead of just skipping to the end. its like reading a book, you can read the first and last few pages, but you miss the best part of the book, the actual story. You just keep clicking next. Who doesn't know what next means? @nuhi, it might be a good idea to have another tab for slimming, instead of jumping back through all the nexts. Final steps or something, one button slims, another builds the iso?
  18. Actually, I would prefer an option that saves the removed files in folder saved after the component. The program has to search for the registry entries, so save those to a hive file. All the files, and INFs, and the sections removed from txtsetup.sif and dosnet.inf. That would probally helpt o facilitate adding the components back, but I personally, it's just I don't want the stuff to be installed and removed from the source, but I still want the files.
  19. I believe it's one at a time, just like in RunOnceEX. But I'm not sure. I usually only had one file to execute anyways (a batch file)
  20. oh it's not just the entries. If you factor in the hotfixs and they're files....and how WU checks, you'll run into some trouble. I'd suggest finding out which components CAUSE the problem, and don't worry about fixing it. In under 2 months, it's going to be a mute point anywayz.
  21. instead of me going and hunting down numerous version of the Catalyst software, it may help to attach the reg file in question. Be alot faster. As for extracting the drivers, just run the EXE file you download, it extracts the drivers. You just need the winxp folder. No special software required, just that tiny little folder. If you glance on over at unattended.msfn.org it tells you how to do it your self and what to look for. You don't have to use extra software to get the job done.
  22. Just because I have to. And this has been discussed NUMEROUS times before. It helps when people search. And as for my own opinion, note the word OPINION, I advise people to NOT use AutoPatcherXP. It's good for systems that are already up and running, but not for install. I'm not saying this because it is made by people over are neow1n, but because i just don't like it. There are security issues that can't be over looked. It's also ALOT faster in the long run if you just do it your self via the OFFICIAL microsoft method. When a new update comes out, you don't have to wait for the update of a program the runs the updates. You just add it to your disk, and you're done with it.
  23. 1. I hear it's possiable. You'll have to start setup from floppy I think. I'm sure others have had success with having the unattend.txt file on floppy without it, and they'll say how. 1.1 Probally not. 1.2 Once TXTMODE is done, and it does the restart after the file copy, remove the disk. The answer file will be copied off of it. 2. You could use fixed dirs, assuming you don't have to reformat you drive everytime. Perhaps second drive? But then the letters wouldn't be the same sometimes during install. 4. You can't put e:\. According to the documentation provided by microsoft, %systemdrive% is prefixed to all paths in that line.
  24. If your tweakUI is the one downloaded from the microsoft website, it WON'T work.
  25. haha, compatible? I know the rollup comes back if you remove certain components. Same with 828026. WU update check for the files that are updated by the Rollup. Since it include many updates, it checks all those, and if one is missing, it lists the Rollup as the update to apply as it is the most recent. These are the ones I know will make the Rollup appear again. Automatic Updates System Restore MS Agent Suspected: Files and Settings Wizard Indexing Service
