  1. Did you do/integrate the Text-Mode Driver TXTSETUP.OEM?
  2. ? On MSdotCOM? Where??? Tried QEMU? More here -
  3. Have you tried this? (Google really helps...) <<--link removed by me-->> <<--link removed by me-->> edit - and FWIW, same Google vista solitaireyields "it sux / buggy'/etc. Also, there is Solitaire and Spider Solitaire... I assume you mean the first one. <<--link removed by me-->>
  4. ...and there are only a HANDFULL of the -X- Updates that need "special handling". Move those to "elsewhere", get the "originals", and run a simple "for-loop" script to install them on the running system. Note: "Special Handling" means any CAB files that are built, SOME of which all you need to do is EXTRACT and use the Command inside the "INI". Others (eg MediaPlayer) need re-downloaded only and placed into the Folder. There have already been one or two "loop" scripts presented for that by me, -X-, and others.
  5. YES! Add them all - it only increases the size of the CD by just what you added. Didn't I say that already ("Do them both")? BTW, did you heed jaclaz' post about adding the Chipset Drivers or NOT? PLEASE pay attention and we won't be repeating ourselves! P.S. I could add ANY drivers and it doesn't matter if they are NOT used, right? After all, look at ALL of the drivers already IN the XP that... NEVER GET USED!!!! HTH
  6. Um, NO! I just downloaded the ZIP file, unpacked it with UniExtract, in the "funny name" folder (not funny-named in your case, because you didn't use UniExtract), I see the INF files, the TXTSETUP.OEM file, and the CAT and SYS file. In the I386 Folder is a single TXTSETUP.OEM. If you were to OPEN the FIRST ".OEM" file you'll see where it POINTS to the I386 Folder AND you will note that is specifies SATA. In the OTHER one within the I386 folder it says RAID. RAID and AHCI do not equate. PATA (or ATA/IDE/EIDE, etc etc) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallel_ATA SATA http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_ATA AHCI http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Host_Controller_Interface RAID http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAID You're REALLY getting hung up on the differences between IDFE/PATA, SATA, and RAID... RAID even exists on OLD PC's - I have an old HP that has RAID on the (OMG!) "real" SCSI controllers. SCSI http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCSI Point to the one in the BASE folder that has the INF (etc) files in it... Let nLite do its magic and TEST it!
  7. Very well could be. To demonstrate to yourself, create a dummy DOC file somewhere, key some text, copy/past the text, leave it opened for a few, copy/paste some more, then go to the Folder where you saved the DOC. Take a look at this - http://www.techtalkz.com/microsoft-office-word/253998-temporary-wrl-files.html When I first open a DOC there is a "beginning" file that has "~$" replacing the first two characters as a TEMP file.
  8. (sigh...) YES!!!!
  9. Um... yeah they did, AFAICT... FWIW, insert BOTH of them, if in doubt! OR just go with (as a test case) IDE/PATA mode, install one, reboot but switch to AHCI and see if you boot up. If not redo it with the OTHER set and repeat. THEN you know "which one".
  10. ??? XPBuild 1.0??? (seriously, the only reference to a "pre-slipped" using that program...)
  11. ...and to point out that I SPECIFICALLY pointed to the appropriate "individual" files to be installed without downloading the SP3. NOMEN, did you read my post and the contents of the links? Everything you need is there. SP3 does NOT mean XP-SP3, it means USP3 for Win98. In addition to the Opened Port, you have to Allow Remote on the XP Machine. PROBLEMCHYLD says it works. Did he lie? (betting you did NOT read the links or our posts...)
  12. Um... we are in NO WAY associated with DriverPacks.net. You should be asking over there - http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=2075 I also notice that the above link has the ONLY download for that program on Page#2. Ask the Author over there - they are not on MSFN.
  13. Using the setting I gave/use, I will have MANY "temporary" files in the folder in which a given DOC is opened in after a period of time and that's with JUST a relatively small file, making changes or NOT. Bottom line, you are trying to do TOO MANY changes with TOO MANY files opened simultaneously. You're creating your own problem.
  14. UniExtract to get them. I thought you understood all of the implications after this thread and how to integrate the SATA drivers? Why this topic in reference to an Asus Support Moderator after being told "how it works" already? (Start at post #11, please...)
  15. Might I suggest that you use some method of backing up the complete disk (as jaclaz has many times suggested in other threads)? It appears that it MIGHT be an NTFS-type system (?) like 2K or XP (really? on that small?). You know the drill... Next, try the "Write Zeros" for funsies (after FULL HDD cloning) and then rerun the Extended. I won't swear to this, but AFAICR, I did this once and it APPEARED to clear the whole disk AND recheck the "bad sectors" and (in apparently some cases) reassign the "alternates" back to the Original sectors. This may or may not work, but hey, worth a shot. Of course, this depends on the (now) correct parameters ALTHOUGH they MAY have been different in the original MoBo (been there too). FWIW, now that CHS seems correct, check LBA=on/off and UDMA-Mode2 (according to specs). If you had REALLY needed a couple of older HDD's (as a necessity due to BIOS) for donations, too bad I recycled mine - I had a couple of shoeboxes full. Nada left now but a couple of 20G's... edit - go here (scroll down to v2.8) - http://support.wdc.com/techinfo/general/errorcodes.asp?lang=en#v10 Error 207 is SMART displayed BEFORE media scan - it MAY clear up on second runs (as I suggested the Zero above). ...and good luck!
  16. Well, you WILL notice that the second link indicates REALLY new software. Buggy maybe? It says it's in Beta right here - http://www.bluestacks.com/app-player.html
  17. ARGH! Funny feeling that the BIOS will have to be manually set (?) on that MoBo - http://www.wdc.com/en/products/legacy/legacy.asp?r=3 Then select the AC23200. I had one of these beasties (Caviar, BTW) at one time. This is the version you are using (apparently) - http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=504&sid=18〈=en edit - If I'm not mistaken, I've seen that krazy "model" recognition before a loooong time ago. Unsure if I wound up manually setting params or not... edit2 - more detailed info on that HDD here - http://artofhacking.com/th99/h/txt/4751.txt ...and the CHS in your picture is WAAAAY off!
  18. Never heard of such a thing. That Moderator is incorrect. You need to have the SATA drivers from ASUS for your Motherboard and/or SATA Controller. Directly from Microsoft - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-hardware/does-xp-sp2-have-sata-drivers/0821a31b-cdac-4362-8e19-5eabf993214f Maybe they meant in IDE/PATA mode (set in BIOS)? (edit - sheesh! See? Confirmed! Moderator is full to their eyeballs!)
  19. This (Bluestacks)? http://www.bluestacks.com/ http://www.pcworld.com/article/2028254/bluestacks-brings-android-apps-to-windows-8-but-its-clumsy.html
  20. (sigh...) Does this help (followup on PROBLEMCHYLD post)? Please read it... http://www.petri.co.il/download_rdp_5_2.htm Appears to install to "Program Files\Remote Desktop" (looking inside the MSI). The version PROBLEMCHYLD gives in 98SP3 (see his signature and the link) - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2483618 The CHM file appears to be in the FIRST link and the SECOND link gives THIS link for download - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=10608 Notice it HAS to be extracted in order to "overlay" and rename the files (wherever they get installed to?) via WindowsXP-KB2483618-x86-ENU.exe /Q /X:<targetdirectory>in a Command Prompt (unknown if will run on Win9x in DOS Prompt). 2k3mstsc.exe / 2k3mstscax.dll ALSO unknown if you need anything from 98SP3 (maybe not?). More info (and the specific port that needs to be opened) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remote_Desktop_Protocol HTH
  21. Haha123 Post count=1 The OP isn't coming back.
  22. Just an FYI in case nobody noticed Tripredacus' OS - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj134246.aspx
  23. I have no clue whether SBW9XUP will work or not (found here) - http://support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?catID=1&prodID=1850&prodName=Sound%20Blaster%20AWE64%20Gold&CatName=Sound+Blaster
  24. 1 - For a whopping 1.6 megabytes, you could download it and try. One might assume it will work on NT4 as the OTHER utilities were also suggested (in the OTHER thread). 2 - Uhhhh, yes FREE (or freely???)! A Server is nothing more than a beefed-up workstation. You're beating the exact same "problem" to death in no less than SIX separate topics! See THIS (post#11 link AND Allen2's comment) - www.msfn.org/board/topic/161834-shutting-down-and-restart-nt4/ Which points to THIS - http://www.robvanderwoude.com/shutdown.php Which SPECIFICALLY STATES NT4!!!! PLEASE be so kind as to NOT create NEW topics AND be so kind as to READ all Posts and the associated LINKS therein! EVERY single question you have asked has been repeatedly answered - correctly! Thank you for your support!
  25. Outpost v1.0 also has a free "plugin" for further discrete control. Look for "blockpost_2002_08_08.exe" (or without the date/time?).
