  1. (sigh...) And I was thinking of putting Srv2K8 on a box in the near future... (yes, I bumped to see if any results had been obtained). edit - Here's an oddball. Seems like there's a HotFix that -may- cause a problem with installing RDC7. This link obviously applys to XP (and 2K3, BTW) - http://jaxelos.wordpress.com/2011/03/23/force-rdc-6-install-force-kb952155-install-rdc-6-1-install-over-rdc-7/ It mentions the exact same Hotfix mentioned in the OP's link. I'm -really- unsure if Manually replacing files would work or not.
  2. @j7n - "looks like" a good catch, as the other topic claims it DOES work (including on Win95+). Just seems like "which installer" was never mentioned... @all - No, folks, I haven't tested NT4+OtherStuff lately, so only helping with Q's and Links... edit - Seems the above post confirms it.
  3. This - http://www.xpize.net/ Directly, no... Post-Install yes... http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/
  4. In addition, might I assume you're trying to install based upon this topic's notation about it? http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/170873-modifyingreplacing-shell32dll-on-nt-40/page-2 edit @LostInSpace2012 - fix last link - always use http://to cause link to appear.
  5. ??? I can't seem to get to the HFSLIP site again today. (sigh...) The best I've gotten is this http://web.archive.org/web/20140305163618/http://hfslip.altervista.org/ or this http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:yhFv-Gqt01oJ:http://hfslip.altervista.org/yellow/changelog.htm%2Bhfslip+KB941569&as_nlo&as_nhi&lr&cr&safe=offactive&hl=en&&ct=clnk Nonetheless, I have MANUALLY checked, and as I indicated above, those TWO files will be replaced anyhow by SP3+KB978695 regardless. (THAT not is NOT in HFSLIP Changelog).
  6. HUH???? Those ARE Official Versions! Have you not heard of DigitalRiver? OFFICIAL APPROVED MS files! (it's an MS Store Outlet.) Get your English SP1u ISO, burn it, reinsert it, and RUN INSTALL->UPGRADE (SP0->SP1), since it's "newer". No need to even remove languages! The -only- thing you may not have in the Official ISO is some of those items you "disable" but -theoretically- those Settings should remain unaltered. Please note this is EXACTLY the situation with an XP "reinstall" - exact CD will "booger" the DocsSettings folders / Higher SP than Original can't Upgrade / Slipstream latest SP to Original allows Upgrade from Running OS. I'ts obvious "something" was "altered during vLite" that is now considered "officially missing". Otherwise, no other help to be provided, as was stated above... You MIGHT try using "Win Toolkit" to integrate. I wouldn't touch RT7Lite with a ten-foot pole.
  7. (sigh...) @Acheron You see, I am NOT "knocking" HFSLIP. I am NOT "inisting" using a "closed source" (see above "SUGGESTED"). It's a matter of PREFERENCE and the PROBLEM has -nothing to do- with -which- one, but the above stated FACTS! Indeed, I have indicated that there are MANY ways to SlipStream. (e.g. RVM Integrator+ RVM/WinCert Add-Ons/SvcPacks). THOSE AS WELL are a PREFERENCE. Bottom line, use whatever way that tickles your innards, BUT "alter" any files you WANT to -after- the Slipstream! HTH edit - O/T - YES, I have used HFSLIP on a Win2K source. Satisfied?
  8. This may take a few responding to each point, so please wait until I put DONE at the end of this... Also, not that my responses may not be in order of your post, so please bear with me. 1 - UDC changed over to using IE8 in April 2013 so didn't identify your IE8 files as "Obsolete" but they are by the other ones in UDC. (note: UDC Project was first updated in July 2009, so I must assume that it was first released in June 2009.) 2 - WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942288)is Windows Installer v4.5 and not included in UDC so keep it but it CANNOT be Directly Integrated with nLite (AFAIK), rather via RunOnce(?) since it's an actual Service-Oriented Update. 3 - KB961118 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/961118) is related to Net Framework. Net Framework is not addressed in UDC, nor is anything other than BASIC XP Updates (i.e. Add-Ons such as dotNet). Add-On's are construed as Optional Installs. Note how WU lists updates (separate sections). 4 - KB968930 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968930) is also Add-On-Oriented 5 - KB2492386 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2492386) also... 6 - KB2808679 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2808679) also... ...continuing... 1 - qchain.exe is not used in nLite Direct Integration. It's used to RUN an EXE and nLite/UDC assumes otherwise and Directly Modifies certain files, as opposed to the EXE modifying (e.g.) RegEntries. 2 - rootsupd.exe is in UDC also Add-On-Oriented 3 - KB909520 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909520) also... 4 - KB940157 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940157) also... 5 - KB2834904 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2834904) applies -not- to WMP9, but v9.5 -and- v11, so N/A! (ref this topic - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/162279-how-to-integrate-basic-updatesie8wmp11/) 6 - ALL dotNet can NOT be Directly Integrated and is also consider Add-On-Oriented (as stated above) "KB2686509 hotfix is known to cause issues if..." is a conditional warning only (and yes, apparently a typo). "H-Could not find part of the path 'C:\XPCD\hottemp\update'" because it is ASSUMED that all Extracted are "true" Hotfixes that would Extract giving several sub-Folders, one being the actual Update folder containing Hotfix UPDATE.EXE and corresponding files. Apparanetly, it's those Add-On-Oriented that DO NOT directly Slipstream. "SXS.DLL" message is because your Final ISO/CD has a "botched" File as given in the message. This normally occurs when an ISO is burned at too high a speed. It must have been good when you manually copied the XP CD to the HDD... "SVCPACK.INF" is re-compressed to "SVCPACK.IN_" and is perfectly acceptable when creating a SVCPACK sub-folder. You should note all of the files that are "INF" or "IN_" in the Final CD/ISO as nLite has ALTERED them for Direct Integration. The "QCHAIN" Method requires the ORIGINAL File be in the SVCPACK folder whereas nLite does not except for special files (e.g. IE8) -and- uses methods in the -altered- INF/IN_ files. Open those up with (e.g.) 7-Zip and look inside them. NOW you have more to learn after you REALLY look at what nLite did and can discover how (in detail) it's done. P.S. - that "batch scripting" part is all about RunOnce/RunOnceEX (generally using CMDLINES.TXT in the $$OEM$ folder). Bet you didn't notice nLite uses that too? http://xdot.tk/nliteimages.html HTH DONE
  9. (sigh...) You can TRY using HFSLIP, but I SUGGESTED UDC+nLite. And I told you in the OTHER topic why using Add-On types will NOT work! The -obsolete- mimo list is what you are -apparently- trying to use, along with HFSLIP. If you don't like nLite, try using the UDC files -BUT- for -each and every CAB file GENERATED go BACK to the MS Wesite and get the ORIGINAL file. Those CABS have been generated SPECIFICALLY because that are MULTI-WMP-VERSION INSTALLERS (wmp9+10+11)! And the Adobe SWF File may not slipstream with HFSLIP (unless in a RunOnce?). AGAIN, I do NOT use HFSLIP, but I DO know for a FACT that UDC+nLite works VERY WELL! In answer to your confusion about Acheron's response - Both HFSLIP and nLite will alter those files. Do your Slipstream and then alter them! HTH
  10. Ummm... From that topic - So, what's your problem? And I did NOT EVEN say "merge" - Different problems, same subject. If you don't want my help, just say so, OK?
  11. I said I said nothing about HFSLIP. The problem lies in the fact that MANY of the files are GENERATED CAB files and do NOT work inside the "HF folder" nor will with SWFLASH. Those items are SPECIFICALLY for use with nLite. The UDC webpage would have mentioned HFSLIP otherwise, now wouldn't it have? I will check on (e.g.) KB941569 - but be aware that UDC came WELL AFTER the "mimo's old page" and -X- project (UDC) came WELL AFTER SP3 was out and so may NOT show -all- Obsolete items, since WU wouldn't have given them at that time. edit - WMASF.DLL is -NEWER- in SP3 so is IRRELEVANT (SP3 supersedes it) WMVCORE.DLL - NEWER- in KB978695 so it's been SUPERSEDED by it IOW, KB941569 HAS BEEN SUPERSEDED and should NOT be installed! HTH
  12. I REPEAT!!! There are SOME items taht WILL have to be made into (at least Pseudo) Add-ons since there are OTHER "things" that will need to be done. If you REALLY want to "do it yourself", DO use the UDC I linked to -and- use nLite, THEN look at what "got changed" and "how it was changed". THAT will get you on your way... BTW, you ARE aware that SOME of your updates MAY be Superseded, so DO check the OBSOLETE and CHANGE LOG on said link. If nothing else, it will provide a wealth of that type of information. To do the UDC/nLite using what you already have, get UDC and unzip it then COPY your currently downloaded updates to it. It will "move" any obsolete files so you'll know you no longer need them. Proceed to compare the UDC Directory to your ORIGINAL downloaded updates folder to see if you MAY have "missed" some. BTW, you will have problems with the Windows Update Package (Windows Update Agent 3.0) as it is the OLD version (new one is generated by UDC into an Add-On CAB file). The other topic was STRICTLY because YOU as well have a "reboot" problem, which MAY be related even though you're not using said process. HTH
  13. That's quite a list! You're on XP Pro so using what I stated should be sufficient. If I disable NoScript I can't get the direct link. Not sure if that version of NoScript will work on later FF versions or if an even newer version of NoScript is available (I'm satisfied with what I have). HTH
  14. Here's a "reboot loop" topic - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171763-need-help-making-unattended-windows-xp/ Note, however, the OP is attempting to manually integrate using their own Update List. I'v taken the liberty of cross-linking these two topics since I advised using UDC/nLite/WMP11Integrate instead. (Yes, attempting to integrate WMP11).
  15. Go here - http://xdot.tk/ Use that and nLite instead of manually. MP11 needs to be integrated with this method (links are included) - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/162279-how-to-integrate-basic-updatesie8wmp11/ The Installer 4.5 (AFAICR) is not included. KB890830 is one of MANY that needs to be turned into an Add-On (see first link notes on it). Why are you trying to integrate the Server2003 version of this? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968930 edit - Seems it has something to do with this? http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mkostersitz/archive/2010/03/01/windows-update-update-for-windows-server-2003-kb968930-causes-exchange-2007-providers-to-fail.aspx Google powershell xpSomeone is making a BIIIG mistake (read this) - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171580-anyone-using-udc-get-reboot-loops-expertreviewscouk-says-so/ HTH
  16. AHHH! To point out, I used FireFox (v12) and NoScript (v2.6.3). The NoScript blocked the playing of the video so I could right-click it, otherwise you would need to open the Page Source and look for character string ".SWF" (in this case). To point out, I gave the direct link already guys, so why this extra stuff/uploads/embedding? Although the other info is useful. I'll check out FreeDownloadManager (thx, looks interesting), but to point out, minimum requirement is XP-SP1. As for a Simplistic (I guess) Downloader I use FlashGet (the older one that works with Win9x) - those additional features don't exist in it, however. edit - huh! did a lot of "to point out" pointing out in this post...
  17. Strange... Seems like it shouldn't happen as the USP (AFAIK) has no Video driver/setup related components. To keep things connected - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171693-windows-98-se-in-depth-questions/ Now, the questions are - 1 - did the drivers initially install correctly? (assuming installed via other topic) 2 - can you possibly tell what hardware/drivers you refer to? You have nasty habit of providing insufficient info, as is also in this case.
  18. In Firefox, with NoScript, I get the direct link via Right-Click. Your "for example" http://download.lenovo.com/Removal_movies/50228_t40_keyboard_install.swfIt's a SWF alright and you would need to convert it -or- get the "StandAlone Flash Player". Google that (with quotes), as I don't currently remember where Adobe the link is (it's on, e.g., cnet and softpedia though). HTH edit - and the links in post#6 work alright - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/149356-best-small-free-standalone-flash-video-player/
  19. Hmmm... So you read the linked thread (jaclaz post above) and nothing worked?
  20. Here are a couple of more items. Also look in the "About Config" (google that if you're unsure of it) - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/978853 Yes, it's a PITA - I got that once too. Not sure but there -may- be an extra Extension Folder in your Use Profile. Try an Advanced Search on your HDD for Files named "conduit" and also Files with Text containing "conduit". "Free" stuff sometimes "bundles" this krapware and doesn't even ASK if you want it. BTW, when did it appear? Look for (Advanced Search) Files/Folders with that exact date - the offenders may (will) be in your User Profile - C:\Documents and Settings\<YourUserID>\Application Data\Mozilla C:\Documents and Settings\<YourUserID>\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla edit - BTW, -sometimes- it sghows up in Add/Remove Programs under some "other" name. Clean it! ...and here are some "more" instructions (I don't endorse the Automatic Method program, BTW) - http://www.techsupportall.com/how-to-remove-conduit-search/ HTH
  21. ...and ONCE AGAIN, to keep things together - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171746-winxp-creating-an-sp4/ I also posted a -potential- answer to this in that Topic. HTH
  22. submix8c

    Multiboot CD?

To keep things together - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171746-winxp-creating-an-sp4/ I haven't used HFSLIp for a while, but one may -assume- that the Method complies with the STANDARD method of creating a MultiBoot Install. Look that up for more info... Side note - It involves modifying a couple of critical files, AFAIKR.
  23. To keep things together - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171746-winxp-creating-an-sp4/ Use a COMPLETE list (as in the links you have been given several time), go ahead and TRY to use HFSLIP by the instructions given - OR use nLite, whatever flips your burgers, THEN insert your changes (noting nLite will DO IT FOR YOU!). I have NO CLUE as to whether this would work for HFSLIP - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/84572-integrating-sata-and-raid-drivers-with-hfslip/ Please note that any MANUAL CHANGES (e.g. FolderName) you make SHOULD be done AFTER Slipstream (by whatever method/tool) to PREVENT Slipstream Failures. You DO realize there ar MANY ways to Slipstream, correct? Also, there are "Update Packs" on RyanVM and WinCert (google those). Quite a number of Members on thos websites are also members here. HTH
  24. No... Slisptream using -latest- nLite and this - Totally up-to-date, excluding Add-Ons (e.g. MP11, dotNET, etc). It is the Critical Updates (which on Windows Update) includes IE8 (as a Critical). http://xdot.tk/ I have no clue where you got the info you provided in your post. Please provide Links in the future so we can confirm next time. Thank you and HTH edit - FDV Fileset references? http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/140941-fdv-fileset-for-xp/ (appears to "assume" using HFSLIP...) Here is the FDV (aka vorck) link (last updated January 30, 2010) - http://www.vorck.com/windows/xpsp4.html ...and I see you have these Topics as well - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171745-multiboot-cd/ http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171744-hf-folders-where-do-i-put-modified-txtsetupsif-and-layoutinf/ http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171697-hfcleanup-for-xp-sp3/ HERE is the answer to HFCLEANUP (AFAICT) - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/140336-the-file-checker-hfslipfc-for-hfslip/ Be aware that the link appears to be temporarily down(?). http://hfslip.altervista.org/ !!NOTE!!! In your TXTSETUP/LAYOUT topic (link above) I indicated also Google Search for RyanVM and Wincert for some Update Packs and Add-Ons. edit2 - You are revisiting an old topic that you started - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/170132-currentupdated-winxp-updateshotfix-list/ edit3 - used Google to find some links fdv "ie8" site:msfn.org
  25. HAHAHAHAH! The "expert" speaks! EXACTLY like UBCD DriverPacks! YOU don't seem to realize that the Self-Extracting RAR files are extracted (via a BAT during the Copy Over To HDD phase) EXACTLY to "D\1" (for e.g. Pack1) just like your "unique" method. You're not doing anything "special". You ARE aware that there are MANY C++ programmers here (including jaclaz, I believe), so you're not "special" in that regard. We even know (shhhh) ASM. Now, about the nVidia Driver Package - did you notice what I said above or are you completely ignoring me? Oh, I know - you read it and then claim you "solved" it all by yourself! "Automagically", as in RunOnce? AutoIT? You DO realize that several of us have many (as in decades) more experience and knowledge than "some experts". Rest easy, your "secrets" are safe with MSFN.
