Yes, I figured as much (since you had downloaded it). Just inserting the link for other interested parties. Also for the record - http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay/?sp4ts.oid=4162263&spf_p.tpst=kbDocDisplay&spf_p.prp_kbDocDisplay=wsrp-navigationalState%3DdocId%253Demr_na-c02174835-30%257CdocLocale%253D%257CcalledBy%253D&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken Nice specs (including the DVD). Be aware that using -any- DVD's (+ or -) that are RW -may- not boot at all (or improperly). I've seen that it's recommended to -not- use RW. I found out the hard way that CD/RW are ok but not DVD/RW. You have to -literally- "waste" non-RW's for testing unless yo first do in a VM. I like/prefer using "-R" for final Data DVD's (had a reader/burner that would not recognize +R Boot even though supported reading them -on running OS-) and +R for Video (unless your Commercial Player supports other-than). And the speed of burn still goes (safety net). HTH

Also, I get multiple "hits" on google "vic 3d'Additionally, google "windows 7" "real time analysis"yields some "hits" speaking of "mhz" settings. Could you perchance provide a link to the source? It -appears- to be an AutoCAD app.
-
What "real time analysis program"? This is the built-in Performance Monitor you speak of - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc749249.aspx Can you be more clear? And please do not make another duplicate topic. http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171861-cpu-core-usage-program-unresponsive/ http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171862-cpu-core-usage-program-unresponsive/ http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171863-cpu-core-usage-program-unresponsive/ The first one you posted went through just fine. Lets just stick with this one...

Final ESU Updates for Windows 7 SP1 (Retired!)
submix8c replied to steven4554's topic in User Contributed Update Lists
@steven4554 - please look at this - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171852-mbsa-vs-wud/ I've drilled through a couple and found that "something is amiss".- 666 replies
-
There appears to be a discrepancy between the one from WUD website and this one - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/139877-post-sp1-updates-for-windows-7-updated-13052014/ I haven't had time to investigate all of them yet but it definitely assumes you integrated IE11. The order of integration (oldest->newest) may or may not matter.
-
The "modified" ones at the RVM link given in Post#1 match the KB numbers listed above. You could "theoretically" download the Original+Modded and compare the contents if in doubt.
-
For the record - http://www.openbsd.org/amd64.html Hmmm... have you tried booting the ISO in a VM? Sounds like the DVD you burned(?) got corrupted (maybe). I never burn faster than 4x DVD's and 8x for CD's (safe bets).
-
Maybe because the Security Bulletin doesn't list it? IIRC POSReady has no .net 1.1 runtime installed But on my POSReady 2009 the .NET 1.1 SP1 was installed over the Windows Update Center but not the KB2931352 HotFix. https://technet.microsoft.com/library/security/ms14-026 And dencorso said It appears (after inspection) that changing anything in the Registry to setup for Win2k3 -may- bomb you.http://www.geoffchappell.com/studies/windows/km/ntoskrnl/api/ex/exinit/productsuite.htm The Reg values could be supplied if anyone wants to check. Several of us have access to Win2k3, so... BUT be aware of the Mods still needed (?) to install.

big problem - HDD password locked
submix8c replied to forever0donotknowme's topic in Hardware Hangout
THIS computer? http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/162801-difficult-issue-with-drivers/?view=findpost&p=1038553 Do you mean th HDD has a Password set in the BIOS? If so, uh-oh! http://globalsp.ts.fujitsu.com/dmsp/Publications/public/ds-LIFEBOOK-SH531.pdfSpecs in PDF says so. In which case you have a rather large problem that jaclaz -may- or -may not- be able to help with. Further -if- that's the PC that the HDD resides in, is it the one that -used- to function (and you made a Pswd and forgot it) and you put a -different- one in (from e.g. a friend or eBay that has a Pswd)? -
Well... you never mentioned what you mean by the hilited part. Here are a couple of interesting articles - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/help/upgrading-from-windows-xp-to-windows-7#T1=tab01 http://www.maximumpc.com/article/howtos/how_use_your_windows_7_upgrade_disk_fresh_pc You see, without knowing exactly what you did (hilited) there's no telling what could be done.
-
ExTruckie - You were answered here (post#8) - www.msfn.org/board/topic/162319-win-7-iso/ ...and you haven't been very clear in either case. Hardware Upgrade not= Sotware Upgrade. I -assume- you ran an OS Upgrade per the link inside above post#8 on two machines that "qualified". If the third does NOT qualify, then it won't work. You can NOT Upgrade an XPx86 to Win7x64. What does the above hilited mean anyway? Please revisit this - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd772579%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
-
(sigh...) Translate this link with Google, Bing, etc. from Romainian to English. http://cafeauaneagra.blogspot.ro/2012/04/reversi-strategia-instalarii-pe-windows.html You never answered the question as to whether you copied them to the correct place? (note - I have no clue what "Fiser" is...)

SEE??? You speak of OPEN ports! I specifically was stating CLOSED ports! WHAT IF ALL SERVICE PORTS ARE CLOSED? (duh!) I had SPECIFICALLY set this (in the SW Firewall) when I was NOT using a Router (RoadRunner Direct Cable Connect) -and- had NO WWW/FTP. GRC Test yelded NO RESPONSE ANYWHERE (no port response - all Green)! Please tell me I'm wrong again. (P.S. When I initiate a WWW access via Browser it's... OUTBOUND!) Your problem here is you keep looking at things from a Server (WWW/FTP/DNS/DHCP) perspective and not a Client/User (i.e Home Consumer) perspective. See you next time you feel the need to /redacted/ perhaps. edit - Magic! I set... Stealth Mode + Block Ping + Strict UDP Session Control = ON in the ATT Router, went to GRC and... All but Port#21+80 (Blue=Open) are Green (packets dropped/no ACK). Note that those ports are Port Fowarded -and- the SW Firewall is -not- being stealthed. YAY! It DOES work that way! I have absolutely -no- desire to set up on another PC ATM a NetZero and use DialUp to test access to my FTP/WWW, thank you. BETTING that it will work just fine because... AFTER starting WWW (Port#80) GRC reports the Port as RED=OPEN. The ONLY "wierd" part is on PC#2 (no services/ports opened) the same result, so guessing a SECONDARY SW Firewall -or- Router w/Stealth for other PC's (in the LAN) -and- turned on would "stealth" them (within the LAN). So... only my External IP is being provided on those ports and the ports are Forwarded to the Server. Strange, no? Guess Stealth doesn't work. Oh, BTW I'm also betting that the Routers are set up like this - http://beginlinux.com/blog/2009/06/building-a-stealth-firewall/

I won't say where I found it, but... 12.9.5.2, AFAIK, is the latest for x64... you've got it right, for x86 the latest actually is 12.8.6.38 (which, in fact, actually installs a symevent.sys v. 12.8.6.37, just to add some more confusion to it all). There actually IS a v12.9.5.2 within the v12.9.5.3 "package" (sevinst.exec), also located in SEP 12.1.4013.4013(?). harkaz said it's in Norton360, apparently this is "shared" between the two products. Filesize is exactly 493,480 bytes - several other files are v12.9.5.3. Just to further add to the confusion. HTH, although I'd stick with the Official Updates on the FTP site.

You DID copy the XP Folder to your Windows8 machine, right? How does it "not work"? You haven't said what the symptoms are. Here is a link for "how to" for the non-Internet Games - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/5860-games-on-windows-server-2003/?findpost=1078133 Again, Windows7 -but- shouldn't it work? I'm not sure I understand how it can be so "different" between Win7/Win8.

Closed Ports will report that th port is Closed (but the associated IP is still visible). Stealth Mode completely IGNORES the requests so that the Ports (and the associated IP) appear to be nonexistent (invisible). Be aware of the difference. Yes, jaclaz, the poster completely missed the MS Technet link. I had already given it previously and it was TOTALLY ignored and said poster flew in the face of it.

GOD, you are so full of it/yourself! Please dispute the following - http://netsecurity.about.com/od/vulnerabilityscanners/a/How-To-Test-Your-Firewall.htm http://netsecurity.about.com/bio/Andy-O-Donnell-82564.htm If a firewall (hardware=embedded software -or- software-on-pc) is in "stealth mode" and a hacker is traversing the WWW via (Random-or-Sequential-IP)+(All-Ports) -then- if no ACK (whatever) is sent back then HOW ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH does said Attacker even know that IP even EXISTS -and- if there IS no response the said attacker will NATURALLY assume that NO PC IS AT THAT IP - PERIOD! At that point, they have NO REASON to even ATTEMPT to "gain access". I MUST ACCESS A WEBSITE to even DREAM of being accessed! And THAT, sir, is PEBCAK!!! Further, you admittedly work quite a bit on Linux (Unix clone) and (forgive me jaclaz) a direct quote from Steve Gibson You are incorrect (IMHO), seeing that you have TWICE stated that, both to me here and Charlotte on the other topic! Now, THIS must be what you base your assertions about Stealth Mode - http://www.hansenonline.net/Networking/stealth.html THIS supports what has been asserted about using it - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/understanding-and-using-firewalls/ This clearly explains what you continue to assert - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Control_Message_Protocol NOW, if the PING request is IGNORED ("dropped packet" via Stealth) then HOW, pray tell, will a REPLY (of ANY kind) ever tell the hacker ANYTHING (ref YOUR assertions and the link above supporting it)? Please stop with the FUD and contribute something useful since that IS what MSFN is all about. All you've done thus far is spout how you're "smarter than the average bear", "ye of little minds", and "Use Windows 8 because... SECURE!" Rather than go on like that TELL US HOW TO SECURE XP (or any OTHER MS OS for that matter)! You'll get a MUCH warmer reception than you have so far. 'Nuff Said!

This is incorrect. 4. There is nothing to recreate. It's an official Win7 w/SP1u (refresh from SP1, includes a single KB-Fix) for a single language that the RTM originally used with vLite included "(Removed LANGuages)" (ref the vLite list given). I will venture to say that the additional Options given are more than likely ( ) within an XML and could easily be inserted into the Newest ISO.5. Perhaps You ARE correct in this since the OP stated however, on a Running XP/2K3, it's "permissible" to do an "over-the-top" Reinstall/Upgrade from the same or higher SP-level, so I had (perhaps erroneously) assumed that it would also apply to Win7. HOWEVER, I could have SWORN that I had done this before to a "virus infested" Win7 (maybe I didn't?). See this -http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html

(sigh...) No, sir, you misunderstand. Post#39 Note that I said "Firewall (3d Party)" and that I did NOT set it in the Router. Incoming Requests to Ports21+80 are Port Forwarded to my Website. When the FTP/HTTP Services are not running, the port is Closed. When I set it OFF in the SW Firewall and using the GRC Website, it shows Ports# 0->39+80 as Closed (Blue) but not "Stealth" (Green) of which all others are indicating. Open Ports are indicated by Red, of which none show that. Now, when I set it ON in the SW Firewall the result is Ports#0->20+22->71 are showing Closed (Blue) and all others (including Ports#21+80) are "Stealth" (Green). Note that the SW Firewall specifically states "Stealth Blocked Ports", not a WORD about "Unblocked" or "Closed" Ports. Now, where YOU, sir, are missing the boat is the fact that these are INCOMING, and NOT Outgoing. Stealth Mode is SPECIFICALLY for INCOMING, so yes, I CAN see this text. As a matter of fact, I'm typing this right now with tha 3d Part Software Firewall set Closed. IOW, I am accessing MSFN via their WWW-Port, For a certainty, I can't seem to get to MSFN via the actual IP obtained by "ping" or "tracert" as it reroutes me to "<ip>/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi". Why, I don't know, as it's a Static IP and -may- use an entirely different port (I'm not going to bother to check that). I'll be back to edit this for the Router Firewall Test -and- provide the pertinent screen shots. (I despise FUD...)

Offhand I'd say you shouldn't have transferred it. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/en-us/xp/transfer-your-data.aspx Note that I've not used it so I can't confirm that. You've specifically stated You might try "forcing" a Reinstall somehow? "Chances are" it may have transferred it to the wrong folder as well. Maybe inspecting the Install Package would reveal which files get installed ("dig this thing out by hand"). Please determine which one you may have installed so more exacting information can be provided. Seems to be the latest package here - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42513&751be11f-ede8-5a0c-058c-2ee190a24fa6=True&e6b34bbe-475b-1abd-2c51-b5034bcdd6d2=True Note: links given inside above ("previous versions") currently don't work. We can try the Web Archive if need be. BTW, was that the "PC Mover" (free) or did you get the "purchased" version directly from Laplink?
-
That's fine, but XVI32 does work an Batch Mode as well. You DID read the "Help" File (CHM) didn't you? (the above hilite is so you'll know that I'm -not- trying to -force- you into anything. )
-
(sigh...) I said "touchy soul" because you believe that folks are -insisting- you do things -their- way. They do not, they SUGGEST solutions. We inform, you react "strangely" (to say the least), seeing the resonse as "attacks". We (I in paricular) have given you Apples Information (IN-FOR-MA-TION only) regarding Apples. I -clearly- stated the following Touchy... http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/touchy Do what you wish. And good luck in your endeavor. You have suffeicient information to answer you question(s).

"The update does not apply to your system" Server 2008 x86
submix8c replied to MrMaguire's topic in Windows Server
(sigh...) You repeat my conclusions (except on Server2k8). And, as I said I do NOT have an x64 installation ATM. You can -install- the x64 version of 6.0 on your WinXPx64 then FIND where the files go to. The x64 one is for BOTH 2K3 -and- XP. BTW, have you clicked on "Options" yet? It SPECIFICALLY states that "User Credentials" will need entered. Not having a Vista Installed ATM (i have a spare for the purpose of testing), I -also- will not be able to "isolate" wich files will need to go where for Server2k8. I will -also- bet (yes, BET) that the exact same functionality will exist for the x64 version (v6.0) as the x86 version (v6.0). If you had looked at the WoW64 article (and any searches pertaining to the folder conventions), you -WILL- see how you -might- be able to "migrate- the x86 version (v7.0) to your XP-x64. I will ALSO bet (yes, bet) that the Vista-x86 (v7) works EXACTLY like the XP-x86 one! So, what's the point? What do you gain? If it works, then USE it! Wasn't that the primary problem? -
Well... I think you miss the point. You've come to MSFN citing how much of an "expert" you are in two single topics. You appear to be a self-appointed "expert". I could care less about your credentials but DO dispute that you're (how should I say this) "smarter than the average bear". Indeed, I have already proven "stealth" absolutely works even with TWO PORTS OPENED (ports 21/80). It ABSOLUTELY prevents access to my FTP/WWW! I had to TURN OFF Stealth to access them in ANY case as they appeared INVISIBLE! Please disprove that since I personally know this for a FACT and I do NOT claim to be an "expert". YES, I ABSOLUTELY tested that and went NUTS figuring out what my problem was. Go ahead do the same and prove me wrong. Now, if you have "no dog in this fight" what IS your problem? This Topic (and the other) had to do with vulnerabilities and you have spoute/touted absolute nonsense and argued with OTHER esteemed members. To put this more politely, please go away. *cough*Windows8Fanboy*cough*TossXP*cough*

Need help making Unattended Windows XP
submix8c replied to SKARDAVNELNATE's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
What are you trying to accomplish with this? If it's to add or remove links, why not do it via RunOnce after you're Windows is set up? AFAIK, the reason that happened is at the time WINDOWS hasn't yet been "set up" and those Folders are copied over during TEXT setup and NOT during GUI. The "timing" is wrong. As for the "SetupData" value, that's STRICTLY for Setup (the PE stage), and not REALLY for the installation. There's another Parameter but it's apparently for Server2003? http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc757642%28v=ws.10%29.aspx Here is a way another member did the modification - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/56287-disabling-dep-integrated/ As for the IE6 Updates, why not just integrate the corresponding fixes? Note that there are one or two additional IE6 ones compared to the IE8 ones (AFAIKR). Take a look at the -X- website ChangeLog/Obsolete list for more details (you'll have to sift through it). Some notations here (now obsolete, I believe) were in the Topic "How To Integrate" re: WMP11/IE8. http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/162279-how-to-integrate-basic-updatesie8wmp11/ HTH
