  1. Hmmm.... Maybe because inside the package is previous versions that will install on Win9x. Above v2 doesn't work. re - Win2k+v3.5 - unsure, but think it's a "go"...
  2. WOW! How about Remote Desktop, supplied with the operating Systems! Works for me! It's also very useful for "work at home", provided Management approves Administrator to allow it on your Work PC.
  3. His e-mail client is the Vista version of Outlook Express (look at his OS). I had to set my e-mail at-the-server to "delete after download" (Gmail and RR). And I have an AV scanner...
  4. One more... AutoPatcher-dot-com. All three (including this one) are good. Just check that the List for each "package" is complete as-of Patch Tuesday...
  5. Ehhh, might be; can't remember if it actually had the nerve to do that... Good point, tho; it's the way I have mine set ("don't leave").
  6. Hmmmm (quick check)... I see what the OP means. To construct a Bootable DVD (not a pre-made image) there doesn't seem to be an option (snapshots attached). First Nero option only allows for ISO; leaves only way by pre-making the ISO by some other means before "burning" via Nero.
  7. Unless I'm mistaken, this one is Integration-oriented - http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=131344 The one here is definitely HotfixSlip-oriented - http://www.winaddons.com/internet-explorer-80/ and has two files - -- an INI (for nLite) and -- this : http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-...wide-sites.aspx Both versions are for XP-x86. There is none as-yet for XP-x64 nor for Server2k3 (either one). However, it should be relatively simple to create an INI for them. TedJBrown, please understand the difference, as I had pointed out in the first linked thread... The end result should be the same in either case, rendering one no better than the other...
  8. Sign into you Account - Tools->Accounts->Mail... (this is in the XP-version; your options probably in different place). Bet you have your email server (POP3/SMTP) listed twice...
  9. Huh! These entries are in the "Update.inf" of original IE8RTM package (?). "%CLSID_IE_TypeLib%" ??? Which INF is that from? Don't see that line anywhere...
  10. Hmmm... glad you got it fixed. The link I gave also gave a link to the program you used. Just wasn't aware you had to do a "rename" (dunno why you should have). re "envelopes" - Look at the bottom of the Topics List Screen for an explanation. re "red arrow" - topic was not relevant where you posted it, so it was moved to where folks knowledgeable with you particular problem would see it. (Some are good with malware, some are good with installs, etc.)
  11. Yes it is... read my post in the thread. I did an exhaustive comparison. It is indeed the IE8 RTM ("final"). ...and looked at your other posts. Exactly which version of XP are you using? x86 or x64? This is for x86 ONLY! "Not working" tells nothing. Please clarify from now on.
  12. See this post. And here's a reference for what is going on.
  13. Your question is answered... change the other one.
  14. I repeat - the WinAddOn version is not an integration; it is set up as a hotfix slip. The only significant thing in it is the INI; the executable is just what anyone can download from MS (not "modded" at all). In other words, not exactly completely integrated (an HFslip only). You should understand the difference between a Hotfix Slip and True Integration. The Sereby version is designed to completely overlay the IE6 with IE8 whereas the version being WinAddOn linked to "all over the place" does not. Check it out and you'll see. Not knocking the "Slip" (the lone INI), but there ya go... Read my post over here. I stated that it's up to you, but be aware. Hope this clears up some confusion.
  15. Google "scan free online virus" (without quotes). Most of the top AntiVirus Software Providers are listed. Spybot S&D (Seek and Destroy) is free; most people I know use it (I do). Google on that too (by safernetworking org). Not an antivirus, but a trojan/spaware hunter with additional features for blocking b;acklisted sites via the HOSTS file. Search this forum for some freeware AntiVirus and opinions of "which is best" (keyword=opinions). Here's a good one recommended by a member of the forum. Also HijackThis will give lists of items found and is used in assisting a person with eliminating various "baddies". HTH
  16. uhhhh, didn't I say "forget the USB, go with the Router"????? As I had stated, the USB is only good for getting to a Wireless Interface Device (like a Wireless Router); in other words, the USB can be put into a Desktop not having a Network Card and also used for connecting (same as the Laptop). Yes, I did.... (ref. your other thread...)
  17. OP says "APUP" - this is not AutoUpdater - it's Autopatcher. All it does is download updates from MS into an "installation folder set". You then run a program that selects fixes (etc) based on what it finds already installed, selected those that are "lacking". If you used this tool, then you updated your "Running System". In order to use the files downloaded, collect all of the Fixes in the AutoPatcher folder(s) (browse around in there... all of the HotFixes are there) into a common folder for use with nLite as per instructions. HTH
  18. No, you don't. And FYI, for anyone tryng the above Add-On, here's another from an Administrator at the German nLite website (Add-On is translated to English) - here's his post and here's another thread with more information on the same and the one shown in this thread - right here edit - and another FYI... this one - http://www.winaddons.com/internet-explorer-80/ is a "hotfix" setup, not a "slipstream" setup... (the ones linked at top of this post are specifically for SlipStream). So choose your own and you decide...
  19. Kinda thought so. Wasn't hard as you thought...
  20. Not having "SETUP.EXE" indicates that you've built this with the "supplied" i386 folder, since the EXE is one of the files found in the ROOT of an install CD. Is this true? If so... Provided that you have a complete i386 folder (all components present and accounted for), all you need is the WIN51, WIN51Ix (where x=P fror Pro, x=C for Home), and WIN51Ix.SP3 files for a Bootable CD. You would also need to get (from somewhere; file available from many legitimate download locations) the Boot Image (win2k, winxp, any of those work), then burn a Bootable CD (instructions found all over for this). Then you can install from BootableCD. Any way you go, with clean install you have to boot. Again, go to MS, get Virtual PC, Install it, Learn how it works, Test your unattend in it, then after satisfied it works, then proceed with a Wipe-and-Install. edit - perhaps BartPE will work on an OEM; appears to be only one glitch and it's resolution is in the Bart's PE Faq's. HTH
  21. You mean a complete "wipe/reinstall" (Clean Install) or a "Repair Reinstall" (aka, if C: is older/same SP-level, then Upgrade/Repace Current)? If first, you have to boot via some method to access the i386 folder to run WinNT (or WinNT32 if Preinstall Environment aka PE). If second, just double-click on i386/winnt32. In either case, make sure that you know your key or already have it embedded in you TXTSETUP.SIF (or UNATTEND.TXT or whatever). You could also (in either case) just burn a CD (if possible). Methods of "booting" are available for USB Stick, USB HDD, Remote, etc, in addition to old-fashioned Floppy. Fair warning on Clean Install - if you messed up anything in your Slipstream, you may lose a lot of stuff. Best to test it out in a Virtual (VM/VPC) environment. So.... yes. (look around the forum; this question and others like it have already been answered many times in many different sub-forums) ... and HTH
  22. The intent is to integrate ("slipstream") it. The Installer already has the facility to "silently" install, same as a "custom MSI" might...
  23. Ok... try Babelfish. Select text or webpage and ask for translation. Granted, it will not be a totally accurate translation (English to Dutch), but it may be close enough. HTH
  24. Hotfixes for integration/slipstream/unattended (whatever...) are not obtained from already-installed-from-MSorWindows-Update. These are not suitable. You should get them using Windows Updates Downloader (WUD, found here on MSFN) or Autopatcher (official site found using google). Either/Both will download all known Official Full Install packages directly from MS to your PC and are suitable. There are several places either on MSFN or in an additional Link in an MSFN topic that will point you to "known as-of" lists. go here ... and "follow the yellow brick road" HTH
