  1. Google "R Loew"(with the quotes) - the patches aren't free and rloew isn't allowed to directly link due to that. The websites will immediately pop up.
  2. Not to throw a wrench into the works... BUT.... Those transitioning from ANY pre-Windows8 will have one GIANT Learning Curve, even if NOT a "geek"!!! It appears to be an even WORSE leap than from XP to Vista/Seven!!! ("Now where did they move THAT to???") At least from 9x/2K to XP then to Vista/Seven was not a monster! Only if you've NEVER had a PC and ONLY an (e.g.) iPad will you be "happy" (dumbed-down).
  3. Look here. There is a setting to do that. It has nothing to do with a Modem. Why are you skipping around for an answer for Office 2003? The subject has been covered. Seriously, you are trying to RUN before you learn to WALK! This is an ADVANCED installation method under the heading "Intermediate Users". Go back and read the OTHER "Intermediate" topics BEFORE you jump head-long into that LAST part of the Method (you are SO skipping things!).Basically, (NOT a comprehensive guide I am giving) 1 - CREATE ADMIN 2 - USE CUSTOMIZER 3 - MAKE A CMD file 4 - SPECIFY IT IN NLITE (AFTER Manually doing #1 thru #3) 5 - TEST THE CD to see if IT WORKS!!! 6 - Come back IF you have a problem! You have to MANUALLY create some folders/files. nLite does NOT do those things. nLite and Unattended COMPLEMENT each other! They are NOT by the same people!
  4. nLite Reference Guide. This is the best (AFAIK) that it gets. edit - Some Video Tutorials. edit - And (naturally) Nuhi's Older Guide.
  5. 1 - No it isn't... Immediately after Install, by DEFAULT the Standard Start Menu is used (NOT "Classic"), so as soon as you "logged in" the "Manage Your Server" executed (AFAICR), and you MUST have used "Windows Explorer" at LEAST once!2 - I really don't know, BUT I believe it to be within the Registry for Your UserID. If you use the CLEAR instructions I gave, they will... DISAPPEAR! If you WANT a "shortcut" to anything - a - CREATE it b - Put it someplace OTHER than THERE, or "CLEAR it" will make it DISAPPEAR! I (normally) use Classic, switched to Standard, went to Administrative, ran "Manage", and it.... APPEARED. I ALSO ran "Command Prompt" and IT appeared! I dragged the "Command Prompt" to my Desktop and it ADDED the "little arrow" on the Desktop. I CLEARED again, then DRAGGED a "link" I had created to ANOTHER program from my Desktop to the Start Menu and it was THERE! I then CLEARED the Menu and it DISAPPEARED, same is with Right-Click "REMOVE ITEM". These are TEMPORARY Shortcuts AFAIK. That is NOT the place to put something you want a PERMANENT link to! Those types of items MUST be put into the actual START MENU! Again! In "Manage Your Server" there is a BOX at the Lower Left that SPECIFICALLY says "Don't Display At Logon"! CHECK IT and it will NEVER execute again - AT LOGON! HTH... (p.s. I am running Server 2k3...) edit - for giggles - http://www.technibble.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-31833.html
  6. Did you download this one? http://download.windowsupdate.com/v9/microsoftupdate/a/selfupdate/WSUS3/x86/Other/mucltui_es.cab (assuming Spanish) instead of the EN one and copy/rename as instructed?
  7. (1+3=4 INF's)...and... Edit - and the Packages you downloaded from Dell will be Drivers (need Unpacked - search MSFN for Universal Extractor) as well as Software you may/may-not need that probably can't be directly integrated without making an Add-On.
  8. @-X- BWAHAHAHAH! Thx for putting it in here too, tho.
  9. SHEESH!!! DUDE, I didn't SAY that! Was I unclear? And I HAD forgotten about Siginet. Please note that I am a member of other Forums (including Siginet) and don't post there but use them for references. I do my posting here.
  10. I would HOPE that the "newer" one will work on your OS... It specifically states Windows 7.... At first glance the INF indicates it does... edit - OMG!!! The LINK I gave is for CREATING an Add-On that uses... THAT FILE!!!! There ya go!!!! Your welcome.
  11. OK... there was a project called MSDBuild that may help with many/most questions. Here is another reference to it. Here (inside) is a link to an Add-On. These items (if you know what to look for) will give you information on "manually" installing and registering. However, this topic is in the Unattended Subforum and I treated it as such.... edit - Translate this from French http://www.forum-unattend.fr/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=310 Also links to this (translate it from Italian) http://www.wincert.net/forum/topic/3338-microsoft-windows-update-true-addon-ita/ Led to OnePiece Add-Ons (ITA, and ENG is just above it). ....FWIW.... another edit - a nifty topic that RyanVM participated in (last posts refer back to MSDBuild project).
  12. The "Unattended" you have linked to is mostly for Manually doing things and a Tutorial on the various items related to Unattended This gives nLite screenshots that directly relate to the Unattended link. It additionally gives Downloads to be used with nLite. RyanVM Integrator is another Integration tool. Finally, there is (was) a tool here called HFSLIP. Where it can be downloaded I have no clue as the HFSLIP website is gone. It can, however, be found by google from, e.g., SoftPedia (safe downloads). Member Mim0 has a website that utilizes it. Each method works differently than another and features (what each can or cannot do) are different. DriverPacks are FULL Driver Packages. It's up to you to get what you need based on your Hardware. It's really up to YOU which method is to be used for YOUR purposes. Pick one and when you have a problem doing something (do NOT ask for a "tutorial" - it won't happen) then make a Topic in that sub-forum. 1 - HFSLIP subforum. 2 - nLite subforum. 3 - RyanVM is NOT on MSFN - ask questions about it and problems with it on their website. You COULD try for help here, but I'm not sure how much you'll get. 4 - The Unattended link you already know about. This is generally where you ask for help on specifics of Unattended. 5 - Also note that there's an Add-Ons subforum specifically for nLite. (unsure if will work with HFSLIP) note - you copied your post from the other topic and it hosed this link. This is the link...
  13. Nope... look here. You can't directly Slip that - you need that Add-On.
  14. (sigh again...) I have located everything that you have except the "altered" ROOT Setup program to allow for the two extra folders/files. I have found the additional 38 files (less two README.TXT files in the two "missing" folders). The STF is undoubtedly identical to yours. This doesn't make my "set" valuable. Only that I am able to nearly "replicate" the contents of your CD. Does this count as "forensic"? Again, I don't see the point unless you actually HAVE the said CD's you keep referring to. This is kind of turning the Topic into an FYI of a different nature rather than "Get this while you can - it's better than the Stock Reskit on the 98SE CD" (of which what we have been "beating up", i.e. the FTP version, which appears to be for 98FE, but nearly identical to SE). The Server Date of 2010 is not "coincidental"... take a look at the ROOT of the Server... MS at one time (undoubtedly that date) transferred from ServerA to ServerB by copying (maybe RoboCopy) - that DID happen... It's not "mystical"...
  15. Link #1 I gave (Your Laptop) - Go to the Bottom - Under "Support" Column, click "Drivers and Downloads, then Click "Laptops", then "Inspiron", then "E1705". VOILA!!! All of your drivers. I see no USB Drivers per-se - please note ICH5 (6, etc) is a different chipset than 945GM. Don't confuse the two. Link #2 is for the Documentation (may already be on your Resource CD). Please note that - 1 - Resource CD is more than likely OLDER drivers than... 2 - What is on the Dell Website (updates since Dell issued the Rsrc-CD) and 3 - Usually there are (but not ALWAYS) Newer Drivers for a given piece of Hardware - Use ONLY the Newest! It serves NO PURPOSE to include Old then New. (Kind of like Installing WMP10 then WMP11...) Going back to Link #2 - Specs - This is in reference to the ICHxUSB "drivers" (which are for 82801) and XP generally provides USB except in special cases. If you don't see them on your Resource CD or the Dell Website, I'd say they are not for your Laptop. Please note that Chipset Packages are just that - they are for MULTIPLE Chipsets (i.e. PACKAGES). For all that it matters, you can needlessly include ALL of them but the Install will only use what it FINDS that it NEEDS. Do you already have XP installed on it? If so, try looking in the Device Manager. In there you will see SPECIFICALLY what Devices exist. Finally, if you had downloaded the "Ponch" package and the associated docs, you would see that YES, it does indeed include EVERYTHING that you already "downloaded" except... NEWER! Just because it doesn't specifically state USB, has no bearing. Go here and browse around. Heck I even have a VIA Chipset and my OS found the latest drivers. Not to totally miss the boat, here is where Ponch undoubtedly found the Chipset Drivers. Look there too. A "google" on E1705 and "USB Controller" implies the ICH7xxx.INF (82801G) set should be included.
  16. ?"wizard network as modem"? What is the EXACT "message" (EXACTLY!!!). Are you talking about "checking for network connection"? The one you can tell it to "skip"?
  17. First, it's a matter of opinion. Use what method/tool you like best.Second, you have hijacked this Topic. Start your own in the appropriate subforum. Third, look at the top/right of every page on MSFN - there's a "Gear" next to "Search" box - clock on it and be surprised.
  18. To answer your FIRST question (again...) As to the SECOND question... WHAT "WINDOWS UNATTENDED CD CREATOR PROGRAM"??? Never heard of it? NAME IT!!!!
  19. Pardon, PROBLEMCHYLD... my confusion was in Step#3 which is within the "replaced" LAYOUT.DLL... My bad...
  20. Taskbar->Start Menu->Customize->Clear Same as in XP, these are Recent Documents, Programs, Etc. To keep the Server Items from repeatedly popping up, check "Don't Show This Again" (or something like that).
  21. @PROBLEMCHYLD - Where do you do Step#3? I also note that "Safe Mode" has a tendency to "hose" the Layouts due to different size screen. (A/L in 98SE, so you have to put them all back - EVEN USING STEPS 1+2!)
  22. BWAHAHAHAH! "Neglect" and to help cool it with a great big fan!!!!Sorry if I offended anyone...
  23. BWAHAHAHAH!!!! A REAL Geek IMMEDIATELY rids themselves of that cute "puppy dog" and IMMEDIATELY institutes "Advanced Search". I control the OS, not the other way around, and a Cute Animation is for Non-techies... That "Techie" comment is what most of the complaints are about - MS has gone out of their way (apparently) to cater to the "Wow! That looks pretty!" crowd.
