Silly question - by the Google given it seems obvious. Look at this. Seems they all do (READ THAT LINK!). -
Crucial M4 w/ fresh install - Not Aligned

Google crucial m4 partition alignmentgave a wealth of "hits", one being this. edit - back here is when installed - You sure ask for a lot of help and opinion, don't you? Have you tried Google? -

@Sp0iLedBrAt - that's the list I use, but note the one single file unnecessary.

True, not the ONLY way. Yes, I know that. The List I gave above is for a Direct Run after Install. If you DON'T Integrate the above Fixes and install JUST MP11, the remainder show up in WU, hence why I said what I said. side note - IF you run the IE8 / WMP11 after First Run, then you MUST reboot to add any REG entries. I went nuts with this and this is why I chose the non-Integrate method. IE8 CAN be Integrated Directly via nLite, WMP11 CAN be directly integrate (using your links) via nLite, but it can be integrated as my post suggests without an Add-On. So.... for WMP11 - choose one of several methods but NOT Direct via nLite only - won't work for the aforementioned reason.

No, it doesn't, but I got a little curious and found several Members that are strangely in that "group" but with a different OS. I've been collecting our Spambot Friends' member-id's for future reference and while searching I stumbled onto this anomaly as well as several others (banned Spammers that still show on the Board). Your Member status is from what Group you're specifically put into (Mod, Supervisor, etc) so I found this to be "odd".

Thx again, Geej! Side note - I had used TeamViewer some time ago to assist my Cuz in Fla with a hardware issue. I believe I used my XP for it but once I tried it on a Server to help my Bro in Ky, it kept kicking me out (detected Server) so it won't work on a Server - Period! Worse, my IP was apparently "logged" and trying to use the XP also kicked me out. Notice that it's not a DIRECT connection and goes through THEIR "cloud". JFYI...

From a Russian website (translated) http://notebookclub.org/forum/thread-1635-page-5.html Not having (and never had ATM) any HDAUDIO it looks like TWO things are needed - the Driver and the Codecs. If you're lucky, Sp0iLedBrAt may be able to help. I apparently can't find anything useful.

Ummm... you do realize you can't DIRECTLY slip it with nLite? You have to slip it BEFORE nLite with this THEN do the nLite-ing... edit - you'll also NOW notice that any WMP Hotfixes will (OMG) reappear in WU because of the fubar-ed nLite. Those Hotfixes are Mult-Version (v9, v10, v11) and nLite gets REAL confused, thus NOT giving the CORRECT files. These are the WMP11 Hotfixes to be applied via Slipstreamer (or maybe after JUST WMP11 via Slipstreamer - haven't tried that way): wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe /Q:A /R:N /C:"setup_wm.exe /Q:A /R:N" REM The following is no longer needed - it predates newer MP11 REM WindowsXP-WindowsMedia-KB952069-v2-x86-ENU.exe /quiet /norestart WindowsXP-WindowsMedia-KB954155-x86-ENU.exe /quiet /norestart WindowsXP-WindowsMedia-KB973540-x86-ENU.exe /quiet /norestart WindowsXP-WindowsMedia-KB975558-x86-ENU.exe /quiet /norestart WindowsXP-WindowsMedia-KB978695-x86-ENU.exe /quiet /norestart WindowsXP-WindowsMedia-KB2378111-x86-ENU.exe /quiet /norestartNote: above is a CMD file for installing all of it.

@Gabriel - First, this might be considered hijacking a Topic as your post is about a different hardware. You should have started your own topic. Second, I searched Intel website for hd audioand came up with this - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=9406&keyword=hd+audio&DownloadType=Drivers〈=eng I really don't feel like downloading another item I don't need, so you download and look inside it at the INF files to see if any match you required Hardware String. edit - Yours (after a search) is a notebook (you misdefined it) "HP Pavilion g6-2011sq" (<-no spaces as you showed it). It show only Windows 7 and Windows 8.EDIT!!! I downloaded the Audio for Win7 - it has TWO folders inside WDM - one is XP and one is Vista (how odd) AND inside the INF files, there's nothing for the Device you list. What makes you think that's it? Why don't you try that Driver?

??? How did you "slipstream" it? There's a certain way to do it... edit - It almost sound like you completely LOST the basic definitions of FileTypes from the Registry. edit2 - First post - "a few mo. ago I slipstreamed" Prev Post - "fresh install" <-first time? did WMP EVER work in this? You slipstreamed wrong, betcha!
-
How did it get "stuck" in a few Member's profiles? I thought this was "fixed" value according to the Board? Or am I missing something?

Odd - one innocuous (and nonsense) post "Vista Business x86" and never returned.

http://support.microsoft.com/mats/windows_media_player_diagnostic/ OR you've installed another player that "reset" the relationships. Fix them in Tools->Options (right-click to the right of "Media Guide" to see a pull-down).

Capped (clipped, whatever) sound with Audigy sound card
submix8c replied to Phaenius's topic in Hardware Hangout
(sigh...) Stepping into "it" again. Any Sound Engineer will tell that you ANY "dirt" (whatever) will screw your equipment up. Why do you think folks selling stuff (e.g. a Mixer) will advertise as "smoke-free environment". Bear in mind ANY condensation will cause failures. What we're talking about is "dirt", pure and simple. Some Sound Engineers regularly "clean" their equipment with contact cleaner of their choice (that works for them AND recommended by the OEM). So, by ALL means, clean that puppy! Isopropyl is fine as long as NO RESIDUE is left behind (remnants of DIRT). Levels/EQ EQ = FLAT FLAT FLAT! You can NOT test if you have a (e.g.) "smiley face" EQ, because you are BOOSTING the Low/Hi and DROPPING The Center! In addition, you CANNOT have EQ-on-EQ as one will defeat the other. Same rule applies to Gain Structure - do NOT double-mix! No Sound Engineer in their right mind will stack one EQ onto another OR one Power Amp onto another OR one Mixer onto another. IF you have ANY Software "looping" into ANOTHER software, you WILL have problems. The Gain on INPUT is USUALLY low enough to NOT "clip" and the OUTPUT ("fader" on a mixer) is put to a reasonable level into the Subs set at a reasonable level into the Master at a reasonable level into the EQ at a reasonable level into the Crossover at a reasonable level into the individual Amps (believe it or not a MX level). Each piece of Equipment in the Chain has an IN/OUT and the IN for any given one MUST have a LOW ENOUGH LEVEL from the PREVIOUS PIECE to prevent THAT piece from Clipping. Mixers have Pre (the GAIN) and Post (the FADER) per CHANNEL that feeds the rest of the chain. If ANY Item is pushed too hard CLIP occurs.P.S. - LOW frequencies EAT POWER! These amps are usually the weak link in a P.A. if you don't HAVE a high-powered Woofer Amp (usually 25-50% more than the SPEAKERS can handle). A lot? NO, because you DON'T push the lows! Indeed, you USUALLY, CUT the low-end Downward, as well as the Upper End. All GOOD Sound Engineers set their EQ FLAT in the middle with the ENDS sloping DOWN to ZERO and start from there. HIGH Frequencies DO NOT Eat Power, BUT will DISTORT if the MIDS or LOWS are pushed into the Upper Threshold (REGARDLESS of a Crossover, which will CLIP in Input). Basically, CLIP is at the FRONT and NOT at the BACK. In Addition, MANY (including me) Engineers will DROP the EQ at the Crossover Frequencies to FURTHER isolate the Ranges Set (to prevent OVERLAP). Check to see if you've "looped" anything into an unacceptable "chain". Also Headphone Out is NOT a good place to insert Powered Speakers (already "amped"). LINE OUT ONLY (pwr-amp into pwr-amp rule)! Hmmm... burn speed? Haven't installed/tested anywhere yet so unsure of any settings available. Interestingly, a good BASIC combo of software is IMGBURN and IMDISK. -

submix8c replied to vipejc's topic in Hardware Hangout
@jaclaz - Well, that's the reason I said I "kind of" dispute the assertions made in said article about 40-connector MASTER=MIDDLE and SLAVE=END, since I've always used (per WDC as well) MASTER=END regardless of SLAVE=MIDDLE attached or not. You see, I'm reading CONFLICTING info on "where to connect" on (aka) 40-wire MAS/SLV. As in the "good old days" the Jumper sets Device0-MAS and Device1-SLV (AFAIK). Maybe the 40-wire ones I've been using are Non-CSE (IOW, CS should NOT be used on the Devices and won't work)? Guess I'd better check the box contents and start marking. Either they are "cut" somewhere or disconnected on that pin ( ref http://unixwiz.net/techtips/ide-cable-select.html ). Interesting that said article links back to pcguide. Hence the Non-CSE vs CSE misunderstanding (position of device) in relation to Jumpered-Not-CSE. Am I making sense? Yes, SCSI Terminators - have an old HP NetServer sitting here gathering dust. And the could care less "where connected" and the Jumpers set the SCSI-ID. -

BWAHAHAH!!!! Functional Cable Isolation... Good call! FYI - per the PCGUIDE link - maybe not so true? From WDC (re: 40-conductor) http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/54/~/eide-drive-is-not-recognized-or-detected-by-the-system-bios Jumpers Single/Master(NoSlave)=NoJumper / Master(+Slave)=Jumper <-WD only(?)You might want to check the Jumper Specs on that (unnamed) DVD Drive too... More on 40-conductor / 80-conductor / CS http://pinouts.ru/HD/AtaInternal_pinout.shtml http://unixwiz.net/techtips/ide-cable-select.html To throw fire onto the "position" on 40-conductor (pcguide link) I have 40-conductor Non-CableSelect cables. In addition, I have no problem connecting per WDC. Still referring to CableSelect cables and PROBABLY when using the Jumpers in CS-mode. Strange (or not) that many OLDER CD/DVD-Drives RECOMMEND CS on Channel-1 on the END of the 40-conductor Cable.I'm only KIND OF disputing the "position" of Devices when using Fixed (non-CS) Jumpered Mas/Slv configurations. -

Hmmm.... Found this (dated OLDER than) about the "Studio 2013" version- http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1124630-free-ashampoo-burning-studio-2013-giveaway/ Just a warning... BTW, you STILL have time to get it as of this post... side note - apparently Version 11 (?) edit - This version ALSO has the stupid "Conduit" software - BE AWARE! ( I HATE that stuff!) Same (Conduit crapware) as the "Version 6 Free" one... Extract via UniExtractor. @geej - fine by me... also sans Conduit Toolbar? -

submix8c replied to vipejc's topic in Hardware Hangout
Yes, it DOES matter! (now that we know WHAT you are using and HOW you've been connecting) 3-connector 80-conductor cable NOT USING "CS"!!! Blue=MoBo (end, REGARDLESS of color - or maybe BLACK?)=Master (HDD) (center, REGARDLESS of color - or maybe GREY?)=Slave (DVD) End is ALWAYS "Master", Center is ALWAYS "Slave" - just like 40-conductor! The only "magic" is the BLUE goes to MoBo! From jaclaz' link (AND HE SAID IT TOO!) PLEASE, get with the program! This MoBo is WAY too new to bother with CS, of which OLD MoBo's would sometimes "recommend" it OR the junky OLD CD/DVD would "recommend" it. And, as stated, CS is many times unreliable (MY "last resort"). P.S. Some "genius BIOS" is perfectly happy with "detecting" even though WRONG! -
Be aware MANY Banned Members ar on the Forum Front Page and we start getting Spam. XRumerTest is an XRumer SpamBot and a couple of others too. YES, we KNOW what's going on and you WILL be eradicated!

1 - Have you "assigned" ("stuck") a Drive Letter to ANYTHING AT ALL? 2 - Look in "Computer Management->Removable Storage" and see if anything is "stuck" 3 - Look in Registry "HKLM->System->MountedDevices" and see if the old DriveLetters are "stuck" 4 - Does the BIOS (F1 ?) have the Secondary (DVD Drive) on "Auto"? -
BartPE, Macrium Reflect, and SATA optical drive
submix8c replied to vipejc's topic in Software Hangout
Do it at your own risk. I HIGHLY recommend a GOOD Defrag tool that will "move" ALL folders/files to the FRONT of the Partition FIRST. Also if you DON'T understand the implications of what Gparted really-REALLY does you COULD hose the whole deal. (alignments, cluster sizes, etc etc etc). Defragger Reviews - http://donnedwards.openaccess.co.za/2007/06/great-defrag-shootout-all.html Note: Better go to the Websites to get the latest version. MAYBE JKDefrag will do it. - http://www.kessels.com/JkDefrag/ Notice the bold part? There are some that will NOT move (system-type files). You'll STILL need to be sure that you have enough "room" for the Primary's needs AND be sure that ther's sufficient for a Backup. You suggested a "40gig" as "backup" - does this IMPLY that this is the USED SPACE on your Primary Partition? You have a tendency to NEVER provide sufficient details and expect a clear-cut answer. Maybe if we tortured you? I PERSONALLY would try the "alternate" method against the NEW HDD first to see how it works out, for safety sake. I suppose you would want the "tools" list that you will need to add to the BartPE? I personally don't USE BartPE, but use INSTEAD LiveXP (WinBuilder) - all the tools needed would be there - just ADD the other files (Roboxxx) you need to the Build. Unhook Old HDD, Hook New HDD and TRY it. (Side note - jaclaz also contributed a couple of excellent tools to the WinBuilder.) YES, I have used GParted to resize and was TERRIFIED when I did it (defragged FIRST). Strangely (not really), sometimes Resize of Partitions "assumes" certain Cluster Sizes (you DID know that right?). YOU choose the route. WE choose our OWN methods. "To each their own that works for them" (I am NOT clairvoyant and can't GUARANTEE that anything YOU do will work).
