  1. How large is your registry ("C:\Users\<USERNAME>\ntuser.dat" and the files in C:\Windows\System32\config)?
  2. please remove the sptd driver. Run the installer (http://www.duplexsecure.com/en/downloads) and select "Uninstall".
  3. upgrading a VM from Win7 to 8 doesn't work. You need to run the VHD inside a VM (hyper-V), here you can upgrade the VHD.
  4. the kernel uses a lot of CPU. You need to activate stackwalking: xbootmgr -trace boot -traceFlags BASE+LATENCY+DISPATCHER+FILE_IO+FILENAME -stackwalk profile+CSwitch+ReadyThread -resultPath C:\TEMP
  5. I need the dmp file
  6. I hate all Theme options of Office 2013 and now use LibreOffice most of the time.
  7. if you already used DISM to enable .net 3.5, you can delete the folder.
  8. yes, if you don't wan to install .net 3.5. The download of the required files can sometimes fail, so you could use the sxs folder to install .net 3.5
  9. does anyone else have such an issue?
  10. Welcome to msfn
  11. yes, but a large hosts file causes DNS client CPU spikes which is bad. Wait for the CES if there are any new devices which fit your needs.
  12. because you can't have an adblocker in Metro IE you see a lot of flash crap all the time. So having a faster CPU is better. And why do you want a pen? Connect a BT mouse/keyboard when you work in desktop mode.
  13. *d'oh* It works now. I was running on battery. When I connect my USB hub with keyboard/mouse, I can only run on battery.
  14. yeah, the 64Bit version works. I tried this one in a VM.
  15. I tried the 32Bit version of my Baytrail tablet but I can't see the glass effect
  16. nice to hear that you fixed it btw, Happy New Year
  17. the original Windows Vista x64 should also support 8GB.
  18. this is by design. You need a Win8.1 VL ISO to upgrade from Win8 to 8.1. Only OEM and retail versions get the update offered in the store.
  19. I still would not use the old Atoms. They are dual cores, the new ones are quad cores.
  20. the Dell Latitude 10 uses the old Atoms, which are much slower compared to the current Baytrail CPUs.
  21. ARM devices can only run WindowsRT, but there the missing drivers are the issue.
  22. try different/older ATI/AMD drivers.
  23. Take a look at the Dell Venue Pro 11: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/dell-venue-11-pro http://www.microsoftstore.com/store?Action=pdp&Dell-Venue-11-Pro-Tablet=&Locale=en_US&SiteID=msusa&productID=289455100 http://www.theverge.com/products/venue-11-pro/7367
  24. I also saw this message in the eventlog of my dads laptop and he has an Intel GPU and doesn't use Aero. So this is a DWM issue.
  25. try to disable the AMD before entering hibernation. Is it faster?
