SATA Boot Problems - Confused
Kelsenellenelvian replied to Cynikal's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
Under advanced: First /Second/Third/Other Boot Device The BIOS attempts to load the operating system from the devices in the sequence selected in these items. Options: Floppy, LS120, HDD-0, SCSI, CDROM, HDD-1, HDD-2, HDD-3, ZIP100, USB-FDD, USB-ZIP, USB-CDROM, USB-HDD, LAN, Disabled. It might "See" the card as drive #0 so you need to play with this order some. Here is the support page for your mobo (Was a pain in the butt to find ) http://www.fic.com.tw/support/motherboard/...spx?model_id=48 You might wanna update your bios too. -
SATA Boot Problems - Confused
Kelsenellenelvian replied to Cynikal's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
Actually yanno what? My mobo does recognize the drives on my pci card and allows me to set their ordering between the ones onboard and on pci. Lemme rebbot and I tell you the option better. It was under advanced options in harddrive managment... What model is your mobo? SO we can look up the manual. -

Would it by chance be an AMD system? -
OK how bout this? Is your driver for sure a 64x driver? Will you ATTACH you txtsetup.sif (You might need to comress it) so we can peek at it?

OK the deal is this: All images contain mostly the same files. Home basic N containing the least files and ultimate containing the most. So concerning the "N" versions the files the contain are all already in the other versions too so you will save very little space if any by removing just those. Your best bet for the smallest image would be to start by selecting Home Basic and removing all other version as nLite is built for rebuilding and keeping one or all images not just 2 or 3. Don't ask me why maybe it's just not feasible to do it that way. The way these disks are created is not that each "version" is fully one the DVD. all of the files are written to the CD ONCE not multiple times. Its like the old warez All-in-one disks that used to float around and still do. The contain 9 or more versions of XP\2003 on 1 CD with a footprint of less that 700 megs BUT if you goto copy that to your hard drive it will contain 6 or more gigs of data.

I would ask Nanaki about this I have never even used CDSwitch. I assume though it is automatically timing out after TWO hours Seems like an abnormally long time to leave a setup running though.

<-- Tutorial section needs a bit of an update. The whole thing with quotes is automatically done when you browse to the .exe with the built in browse button on the right of the commandline. <-- you place the WPI folder at the ROOT of your drive just like any other disk. Then you will have to make the disk image bootable again using one of the dozens of ways todo this. Nothing needs to be copied to the drive. (vLite is probably the easiest way todo this.) <-- it depends on if you already have a setupcomplete.cmd buried in the sources folder, then your existing one would need to be modified.

Actually WPI doesn't rely on IE just the IE core. I have personally tested this on a nlite disk and found that WPI ran fine (Granted the start process had to be changed slightly) I would dearly love to make WPI work with firefox and Netscape, safari whatever BUT it is based solely on .hta and the mshta engine so without a total re-write (No we won't do it either) it has to have at least the IE core. The Nero thing is just for Nero7, I have used WPI with Nero 6 & 8 for ages without a problem "Nero" just got funky for v.7 because for some reason they decided to mess with the HTML\mshta scripting areas.(Besides anything after v6 is just useless bloat when there are so many apps that can do the same thing with a tenth the footprint and nowhere near is intrusive) YES including the handling of blueray disks... The reboot.js error has been found to do with outlook express hotfixes. At least from the testing I have been able to do. As for setting firefox as the default browser why does it have to be set first? Why not just add a script into WPI that makes it default browser? That way after WPI is ran it is then the default browser. See nearly ALL of the "Issues" you bring up are mere annoyances. There are many ways around them and many alternatives.

Once nero7 is installed your screwed. It somehow changes the behavior of the scripting enging and does not fix it when removed... They do have a new tool though that might help let me go look it up... It is called "Nero 7 Cleantool" http://www.nero.com/eng/support-nero7-tools-utilities.html get it from there and try it. It just might work for you.

Cannot find win51ic.sp3 in the DVD come with eeePC
Kelsenellenelvian replied to saviow's topic in nLite
Same thing just make an empty text file and name it that. -
@ midiboy Any way around this now ? Do I understand correctly that I just have to copy some older windowoptions.js file into the WPIscripts folder and everything will be fine ? Yup that will do it fine. Although the wording isn't quite right it goes to follow that if you don't have write access you can't save the file right? @ scadoo = hmmm lets see. Was IE removed? Do you have nero 7 installed? Is firefox set as defualt browser?

It's called "SFC" or system file checker\protection. You can disable it in the options page. (Right below uxtheme patch)

You're using Vista huh? We have seen this odd bug to and I might have a solution. Let me do some more testing and I'll get back to you. For now just leave the disk in until wpi starts properly... -

Command line uses of WPI WPI supports the use of command line entries for selection of Options, Config files and time for even further customization of your WPI disks or setups. Example: WPI.hta options=useroptions_mritter.js config=config_mritter.js check=Work timer=30 If a path is not specified for the file, it will assume they are in the WPIScripts folder. Paths can be full (starting with a drive letter) or relative to WPI.hta (starting with '.\' or '..\') and must end in '.js'. Spaces are supported only is a path is provided and properly quoted: (config="c:\space in\file path.js")
