Haha... I'd probably be doing the same thing, only a lot more than just 6 shots LOL
  4. Always there with an answer before I could get a chance
  5. Wow... some aewsome hardware there! That'd be sweet to have.
  6. I agree, do a fresh install on the new HD and then plug in your old HD as a slave and copy off everything you'd like to keep, then wipe and use for storage.
  7. Thanks for the cheats guys... cheats always make the game more fun once your sick of the challenge!!
  8. Yeah that was the problem. I have read about changing it from the default so many times when researching, I just forgot. I have set it to DDR2-800, set the timings to 4-4-4-12 and disabled the ITE controller as I have nothing on the 2 red IDE ports, and this thing is bumpin! I've tried everything I can to choke it and its not happening, accept when it comes to something that video intensive ... I think I'll be in the market for a new video card before to long, not sure if the X300 is going to be enough, unless I just don't have something setup right. I setup Office2k3 in 3 minutes flat. Good to hear about the CPU temps, I had the threshold set at 62C and that thing went off the first time I tried to fire up AOEIII.
  9. I got lucky and found the CD. I've got the USB 2.0 working fine, the Raptor is screaming as well. Only have 2 issues as of now: CPU temp averages ~45c idle - 65c load... is this normal?? And next, the RAM.. during boot it comes up with the type of RAM as being PC 4300 Dual Channel Interleaved, not PC2 6400. However, CPU-Z reports PC6400. Also, the timings... CPU-Z reports 5-4-4-15... shouldn't that be 4-4-4-12? Should I edit it manually?
  10. Yeah, I'd like too be able to find all the drivers and make a nlited windows with all the drivers. Any ideas on the hard drive being the third promary disk?
  11. Well.. great news, I got it up and running. It turns out I had to plug in that 2x2pin power connecter I was talking about earlier. There are some problems still, but software only hopefully. The most important problem I believe is the setup of the Raptor in the BIOS. It is showing up as being the third primary drive, while the plextor shows up as the primary master. I cannot simply change the boot order in this BIOS like I've seen in all others. In IDE configuration I have it set to: Configure SATA As [standard IDE] Onboard IDE Operate Mode [Enhanced Mode] Enhanced Mode Support On [s-ATA] Which is how it's supposed to be setup according to manual and forum, however I just dont see where I can make it the Primary IDE Master. Jumper issue? Another thing, I cannot seem to get USB to function at full speed. I have enabled USB 2.0 support in the BIOS and tried both HiSpeed and FullSpeed settings, according to the manual the 'HiSpeed' setting should result in USB 2.0 and ~480mb/s, not for me. I don't know if it's jsut me, but this thing just doesn't seem to be performing like I thought It would have... hopefully I just have something configured wrong somewhere. Plus, I lost the **** ASUS SupporT CD that came with the mobo, so it's been a fun night of finding drivers ... Let me know what ya think.
  12. jcarle... looks like I'm gonna have to put off the computer until later tonight than I thought. I'm going to try some/all the suggestions I've received today and I'll add ya to my msngr and get back with ya. Thanks.
  13. Thanks... I'll IM ya later on tonight if you're on... hopefully ..
  14. Ahh man, that sucks. Well, I have guys over on the ASUS forum questioning my RAM choice saying that it may not be compatible with the baord since its not on the QVL. However, there are people all over that board with the same type of RAM and have it working fine. I was thinking, maybe since its not the same batch and I'm trying them in dual config, that could be the problem. I just really don't wanna pull everything out, it was such a pain getting it all in there... looks like a hurricane hit. Will you be on later this evening and night at some point? I wish I could IM you... to bad that live chat isn't up and running on the site.
  15. Blah... 1. I have the entire 24-pin ATX connection plugged in along with what they call an "EZ Plug" power connection, it's just a standard 4-pin power plug like for legacy HDs and DVDs. 2. It is. 3. There aren't 4. Are you talking about the power switch? I have the two pins connected to the 2-pin power on the bottom right of the baord, and it does come on when I hit the power button, just no video. 5. Not sure why you want me to do this as the board comes on alright, everything seems to be fine... just don't see any video. I have tried both serial and DVI-I. I tried to attach a good pic of my mobo but for some reason when I add the attachment it doesn't show.. the pic is 500kb, maybe to big?
  16. I see nothing on boot!!! P5WD2-P Antec Performance TX640B Case, 400W Antec PSU P4 650 3.4/2M/800 w/ stock HS/Fan 1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 6400 800MHz 74GB WD Raptor 128MB Radeon X300 on the X16_1 port (I think this may be my prob) Samsung SyncMaster910T 19" LCD Plextor DVD PX-740A/SW-BL Arctic Silver 5 I turn on the machine, the green light comes on the mobo, I hear the Raptor spin up, all the fans start up... but I have no video. Got everything hooked up the best I can, the HS/Fan are mounted in tight, the RAM is in tight and I've tried reseating both. There are no beeps on power on, I left it running for about 5 minutes and it just hummed along... didn't turn off, no beeps, I just have no video!! I don't know if the vid card is bad or if I've hooked up something wrong. Any ideas?? Please!! I've spent to much on this beast to have it sitting on my floor lifeless. TIA.
  17. UPDATE: Just surfed on over to good ol newegg... they have a weekend special on raptors. I just ordered the raptor and the 2x512 Ballistix 6400 . I have everything now!! Woohooo! Thanks again jcarle for everything!!
  18. I'm not sure, but I wouldn't think that a scandisk would pick up errors on a flash drive as it's a completely different entity from an IDE device. It probably failed because it didn't know what it was. Can you drop files onto it in explorer and read them? Are you receiving this error after a restart? And why would you be trying to format/scandisk/partition a flash drive anyway??
  19. It's quite possible. Arctic Silver 5 is a thermal paste that goes between the HS/Fan and the CPU itself. The stock HS comes with a thermal pad that performs the same function as the paste, it's just the paste is MUCH better at absorbing and drawing out heat from the CPU. Check the AS5 Homepage and Newegg. Even though you didn't get the Premium, I'd would most definately still check to make sure the HS is installed correctly, the RAM is in the correct slots, check the BIOS to be sure it's being recognized right and consult the ASUS forum as well.
