appartently microwin or microwindows is a linus freedos application well documented on google and at soundforge but microwinx looks good .

micro xp etc tough picking a name that isnt already a trademark.what exactly is this website your gonna make contain? baddogs micro xp iso the session infs etc? list of things removed or kept ,sound like a good idea.

wow 280mb installed,hell thats a little bigger than 98se install,most impressive.i would love to see your session ini.and u left in ie themes etc right on.i know one mans session ini might not suit anothers depending on what application u need or use but if one create a session ini incorparating the basic most widely used xp fuctions a barebones appoach then i think most peeps will be estatic about it.the time the work the countless vmware xp iso installs etc are most appeciated by many.i think most people are looking for the smallest faster nlited xp with basic needed defaults ,for those who feel you remove 2 much etc maybe their need are different because of a office enviroment etc the appz required on their pc. if a nlited barebones is 2 much 4 you then make your own nlited xp i have tryed though quite large compared to yours very conseravite but no errors 280mb iso but its a start .im learning but in closing looking at yours or others session ini are a excellent guide to removal or keeping things i thank you all.nlite kicks ash.

i lived without google since win 95 ,back then there was a bevy of search engines and like the posts above i always found what i needed,true google is the choice of today everyone remembers google mass exposure a catch phase now google it.but i dont use gmail gtalk etc so i could live without itand besides theres many aleratives and msn search is vastly improving.

i always put the latest setups to programs such as ie7 winrar etc etc generally appz i would installed after each new os installation .i think most people burn appz to cds for slipstreaming as well as speed of internet connection etc. i find its easlier to burn a appz for a friend then try to direct him to the url.i use programs like cd menu pro to create autorun apps cds a mini tech cd which i bring to friends houses to update their oses etc.

a wrapper would rock. how bout it techno geeks.

B) win98se rules lol if u removed pc health etc etc from Me you end up with 98se ..you know what i hate about Me its the browser toolbar too small.

the reason 4 the decrease is alot of older pc are being disgarded and of course all new pc ship with xp ,i figure if theirs programs created like gapes and mdgx etc its life will live on ,in time once all support is dropped by apps and games for 9x then we got problems ,so its always a good idea to archive all your 9x apps games programs patches etc etc and burn them to cd because in time **** that deaded time 9x related programs will become rare like win 95 stuff . remember 98 lives in all of us hail 98se. B)

if you get NTLDR is missing error all you need to do is put in a win 98 startup floppy at prompt a:sys c: then your see a:system transferred and then u can upgrade to a nt based os.Enjoy!!!

why bash 98se it is acool little os that could ,even xp retaines alot of the dynamics of 98 and of all the 9x oses its the fan favorite,hell ived installed it about 500 times on mine and friends pcs even in 2005 i still put win98se on pcs.i think like the post s above if the pc is better with 9x than use it.you basically can srf chat play games email theirs not alot you cant do on 98se infact alot of home users are contend with 98se and never consider xp. if u browse tru these forums youll find the most action in 98 forums second to nlite and so on.why not support 9x and how come you see the spec on appz stated 98/me/2000/xp ,i guess cause 15%of folk still use 98 and upgrade their programs on a 9x box and why does mdgx who clearly cut his teeth on dos related 9x continue to devote so much space on his site to 9x related things because theres demand interest its not a select few who are begging gapes or geogre to create 9x sps to save their poor old 98 ,no its people who still use it maybe your parents friends a aunt ask yourself who you know whos running 98se at home etc youd be sursprized not everyones running out buying a new P4 3 gig mhz etc no its alot of hand me down P2 etc so let raise our glasses and salute this little os that could hail 98se.

i read that. You must remember win95 started it all and every os as borrowed or improved since.i started on 98se and tryed win 95 just for a lark ,it wasnt bad sure u had to be savy finding programs etc but it did the job .10 years since mdgx stood inline at midnight lol. i salute 95 for it brought us to vista. in 2008 well be reading about win98 10 years.the beat goes on..

tweakers indeed .their a heap of programs that make 98 stable and some improve the looks.imagine having these appps back in 99?.ihave a nlited version of xp pro on a p2 -400 runs fine but 98se is rather fun to tweak out.

i was gonna choose all of the above but its not listed.so i use windows 2000 i always got bsod and as far as me i had np and 95 was snappy cool for the day..

here here im another tech savy install this uninstall that and sp2.02 kicks azz .a must have for the 98se minded. 98setome to is problem free. in fact most of the program in this forum are well tested and 99% bug free ived tryed them all .

link theres 100s of thousands of new users emerging in 3rd world countries who are just beggining using pcs many on older boxes running 98 plus there are the same amount of peeps in north america using 98se at the office for printers faxes etc plus a pile of folks with older pcs incapable of running xp in fact at least 15% of machines have 98se or use it as a secondary os now if general motors decided 15% of people dont matter well it would be quite a loss in sales .i agree xp is a vastly superior os and is the best os going but to ignore 15% of users with 98se is foolish.perhaps all new games should be xp nt because u need a good video card ram etc usually p4 type stuff .trying playing gta vice city on a p2 its slow on a p3 better laggy p4 perfection so if the game or app doesnt require much ram or video and could run on a p2 then make it work for all oses and what about support for people would have been using programs brought ones and have upgrADED YEAR TO YEAR .i say backwards compatabity is always a good idea. the poll insnt fixed because 98se users are blind to change its probably a little bias no doubt but not totally one sized ask the pros in here if they think its a good ideas to leave 98se or 9x in todays games appz? just ask yourself why avg msn yahoo still provides support for 9x in their messengers ? because theres a big enough percentage still.my 2 cents....

welcome to dark sinister world of msfn.one thing is certain in this wacky world is windows needs tweaking ,u name the os its here a bevy of tech sweat and those crazy nlite guys.lol but enjoy its a labour of love.

B) win98se is the most user friendly os plus it was problably on more computers at its peak then xp is today .everyone used tryed it curse it and fell in love with the old grey classic look despite its bugs.today we have vista comming xp is turning 4 and and 2 service packs later still bugs.as far as backwards compatabitiy someone brought up a valiant point that most appz games started version 1 on the 9x format sold millions og games and you upgraded on top of 9x so to drop 9x for nt only would affend alot of trusted longtime customers but i sort of agree that dvd driven games like gta sa etc might be better off dropping 9x due to the hardware demand that many old 98 boxes cant do anyway ... your turn to rant...

maybe u should fdisk wipe drive.once i ran nortons goback and later formatted when i rebooted goback continue to boot not allowing me to load xp it left some data in mbr or invisble paration so i fdisk every way and it worked .now not related but its a thought.
