  1. It is just as fast as previous releases, but loads a whole lot faster.. I'd be very concerned about using it given the below... *However I am using it at present. --------------------------------------------------- I've only been using it for 1 Hr 43 Mins, memory says 75,880K ------------------------------------------------------------------- I've now been using it for 3 Hr 8 Mins, memory says 106,124K
  2. If they are not giving you any guidelines then they just want to see what you are about. There is no way to know what they are looking for.. How do you get selected for American Idol. How do you win? Just submit your work and write them why you like to do this. Expression 3 - free from Microsoft No idea how I did this.... Failed T-Shirt designer.
  3. -------------------------------------------------------- Is this what you mean? The top 387 x 61 banner insert.
  4. Suppose there are 600 million working computers (maybe more) in the world running Win software. Say 500 million have Intel and 100 million have AMD. *Add a dollar to the price of every CPU for research and development. That's $500 million for Intel. That's $100 million for AMD. Would that cover it? Plus, on top of the $40 manufacturing cost you have to add R & D cost of $1 plus packaging and insurance and shipping costs. Custom duty may or may not be applicable because no one else may make these CPU's. Say $9 for that. Now that's $50 total. Add Intel profit, ( manufacture should be 20%) let's say 100%. That's $100 Now add the wholesale profit, (should be about 35%) say 50%. That's $150. Now add the retail sales profit, (should be 50%) say 50%. That's $225. So the CPU should cost $225.oo over the counter in a box! Questions: How much profit do you think Intel & AMD would make? Plus, if they were the wholesaler also?
  5. If it's costing them at least a billion and they have 600 million captive customers, then it's costing them 83 cents - for ALL edtions! I make it $15.oo based on... 10,000 programers at $2,000 per week for five years Lawers standing by - 100 million Senior executives - $50 millin Power, light, rates & taxes - $5 million Gardners _ $100,000 Coffee - Not all ARABICA mind you, but some ROBUSTA - $200,000 Broken office chairs wholesale - $ 1,500 *That's $15.00 for ALL editions
  6. You know more than me about this tcpip.sys, but I just hacked the Registry as per the instructions I found at Microsoft Knowledge Base. I only have a 44 K connection, so I am allowed. You are NOT with your high speed connections. And should not. Shame on you. "Greed is good."
  7. More profit here than car parts or retail clothing. NOT gas/petrol thought!
  8. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050908 Firefox/1.4 (code-named Deer Park) Better known as Mozilla Firefox version 1.5 Beta 1 =OR= as the Title Bar displays: Mozilla Firefox Beta 1 Loads in 2 - 5 seconds as opposed to IE7 B1's 2 seconds, but this is much improved on previous performances. Seems stable enough, better than IE7 B1 at present. Some sites are not displaying properly, notably Microsoft, ofcourse. Video, or whatever it is they have (they don't state) about the Expression suite of products: .. NO PLAY. And missing info on page. http://www.microsoft.com/products/expressi...er/default.aspx You need to be careful when click changing Tabs as it is easy to inadvertently hit one of the Browser Toolbar Folder Hyperlinks. Putting the links in Folders helps solve this problem, as only the Folder links open. ::~..~::..~..::::~..~::..~..::::~..~::..~..::::~..~::..~..::::~..~::..~..::::~..~::..~..:: ***Isn't it time to get rid of Bookmarks altogether AND just use the Bookmarks Toolbar where you can have links, but better still, Folders of links. Much easier to organize and find links. *Also get rid of Favorites in IE and just use the Links Folder. ::~..~::..~..::::~..~::..~..::::~..~::..~..::::~..~::..~..::::~..~::..~..::::~..~::..~..:: The Toolbar backgrounds are Gray on both IE7 B1 & Mozzie 1.5 B1, but they are just beta's. However you can add a Toolbar image to Firefox by making and naming an image tile: background.jpg. This needs to be placed in the Chrome Folder located at:- C:\Documents and Settings\**{your name}**\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\********.default\chrome It gives a bit of color, without the Themes overhead. Finally, Extensions won't install if not compatible with the version of Mozzie you're using. I've found three that will install so far, and work OK. They are IE View 1.2.5, my favorite - InFormEnter 0.2.9.9 and SmoothWheel 0.44.7. However, several others I tried to install, declined. It also comes with one Extension installed: Reporter 1.8b4 'Report a broken web site.' Ironically, the 'View in Firefox' link in IE7 B1 will not open Firefox anymore. That file came from Mozzie, not MS. Maybe it just needs updating. And YOU CAN click and drag the Tabs around to rearrange them. NEAT, but maybe more use in IE7 if you could open Mail to a Tab, then maybe drag it to the left, out of the way.

  10. If nLite took out your install files you cannot repair it. You will have to download and install it gain. (Then take it back out again, I presume.) There's no Firefox plugin as IE & Mozzie use different rendering engines. And MS is copyrighted.
  11. You can open them with IrfanView, then resize them and save them as .ico files. IrfanView - one of the most popular viewers worldwide
  12. That got me thinking.. There was a company operating out of The Presidio. It's some old military barracks in San Francisco. Was also a movie with Sean Connery! Could not think of their name, but I know when I closed the Furball Cannery (because I moved ISP's) they actually saved Aussie GST Calculator! They were going to archive the whole web. Maybe got too big for them.. It's Alexa, I think. They had a Toolbar. Think they got some bad press for spying? Maybe? [They now are owned by: Amazon.com] Don't know what they're up to. Anyway, I did a Google search for the Furball Cannery and came up with 97 links. Good God, I'm so embarrassed I better go hide under the bed. Caught between Iraq and a hard place! I'll say. Well, people should check their links - site has been down for two -or- three years!!! http://pages.alexa.com/company/directions.html
  13. Well, if you move to the Continent, all your problems will be forever solved! NO WMP there.. Just a thought. ------------------------------------------ "Englishmen like to visit the Continent but they wouldn't like to live there" -WordWeb
  14. ---------------------------------------------------------------- I'll be taking the Aust. $20_ Windows Vista Home Basic Edition: for my XP Notebook. And I'll buy a new PC with Windows Vista Home Premium Edition: * If I don't get ripped off for the graphics card, or PC builders hike their prices! Consumer protection: Where is Ralph Nader when you need him. Is Ralph still alive?
  15. Mozilla Firefox Beta 1 loads as fast as Windows Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1. I just installed it and this is its first outing..
  16. The same here. Except it's a Notebook. Has a 15" screen. Laptops are usually considered the very small units. A. Because the price of Notebooks has come down. B. To get away from all those wires. (Well I do have Modem & Mouse.) C. Because it only draws 37 Watts power max. and NOT 400 Watt like desktop D. Because I finally upgraded to Win XP SP2 E. As a stop gap till VISTA gets here.
  17. I was just wondering where XOOM went to? They took my Arabica Screensavers site with them. And Microsoft killed my little girl puppy dogs.. (sniff) Said they had no visitors. They're waiting for the archeologist's of the future. I mean they may not have Maltese X Shih'tzu puppies in the future. They were uploaded with that Explorer button: Publish this Folder to the Web. Bye, bye, girls..........
  18. I'm surprised how many people said they are using Paint for screen shots. Thought you would be using IrfanView for that. (And quick image viewing - and link - open in external editor. ie. Photoshop, PhotoImpact, PSP, PhotoFiltre, etc.) ..Just picky.
  19. I'm not really any good at icons and after seeing Paul Boyer's (Mormegil) Icon-A-Day efforts, well, I can't do this.. http://mormegil.wincustomize.com/Gallery.aspx?SID=83 AND..if you have fast net speed..ALL http://mormegil.wincustomize.com/Preview.a...gil/ip/1340.jpg Yum-ping, yippedy, yikes!!!! What tremendous icons they are. Does Microsoft have any icon designers this good? I suppose the VISTA icons are going to be bigger because you do loose some detail in the new icon designs at small sizes. More a humorous banner or button man myself.....
  20. I voted NO, because without Polls you cannot guess what direction people are taking or thinking. So get in, even if you just click a category and not reply.
  21. Australian English ------------------------------------------ World air traffic control is in English. *Which makes you wonder how the German Luftwaffe got on during WWII!

  23. We say Petrol and not Gas. Petrol Station. People have natural gas connected to their homes for cooking, heating, etc. I don't known what you call gas, you know, the air stuff!! I shop at Woolworths or Coles for my groceries and both offer a petrol coupon with 4 cents off a litre at their petrol stations. ( If you spend more than $30.) *Below is a Holden Commodore. There are several models.
  24. I would say "Hi" because I don't program, just copy free code to make software. Don't want a job and am grateful for the free software I do get. Lately, Photo Story 3 for Windows and Exprssion 3, plus Microsoft Internet Explorer version 7.0.5112.0 Beta 1 (Stand alone - not Vista Beta version)
