Solved! And in the most incredible way possible : I have a corrupted file on my XP CD. This file is usually removed by nlite. Since I was not using nlite, the file was not removed and was causing the problem. This is only an hypothesis but it has just completed its installation. I'll try to make a new full iso asap.

MUST be me : I removed most recent HFs (in fact, down to 4 months ago), tried latest stable, without anything in HFCABS and it is still not working. I'll try on another computer on friday.

I just tried with an empty HFCABS and without removing cat files : it still restarts. I attached my log. HFSLIP.7z

I can't do proper tests before friday evening (because I probably need to check that my SOURCE folder has no problem itself). edit: I created an ISO from my SOURCE folder and it installed properly. I'll now make a new pass with hfslip, without DX (who knows) and I'll try to install it this evening. edit2: failing again. I'll come with a clear answer on friday (moreover, I forgot to remove HFCABS as I planned).

No, I meant the computer that I will test it but that the computer that has a raid array can not be formatted because it is used for work.

See my signature for an XPSP1 list intended for the current test release. If everything appears to be correct, can you please compress your HFSLIP.LOG and TXTSETUP.SIF files and post it here? I'm completely in the dark as everything's fine here with XPSP1. Problem again. Gonna try a fresh source (that one has just been patched with SP1 and I think an error may have occured). Btw, SP slipstreaming left a svcpack.log file in hfslip's folder. Could it be deleted ? Also, KB833989 (m$ VGX) says something like "try /? for correct use... blablabla".

If you want I can check if XP detects correctly a RAID-0 array with a i915 chip (I think) but I can not install it.

DX10 will only be available to Vista and DX10 will break compatibility to save some CPU ops.

Nor does XP. Some games may use them (I'm thinking of F.E.A.R. Combat which comes with October 05 Dx update). Otherwise, I think these updates are meant to be sort of release candidates and slow migration.

It has restarted. I haven't updated my HFs. I'm using "hfslip-1.0b-61010b.cmd". It is possible I made an error though (I'm a bit in a hurry right now)

Nice desktop and nice wallpaper : it makes me love transparency. I have another comment : don't use MSPaint's png compression, prefer irfanview : your screenshot is small but weighs 1.5MB! (and png makes big files with high quality photos, with landscapes especially)

I've downloaded some (read tens) archives from the internet and was extracting them with 7-zip (because of details view). Some could not be extracted so I tried with UE and it told me there was an error and telling me to look at c:\uniextract.txt First, why in c:\ ? UE is on e:\ here. imho this could be corrected. Then, why not a button that would let you open the log file directly instead of letting the user browse by himself ? Thanks.
